Blind Pig accused of racism after canceled show

- The show that rapper Sada Baby was scheduled to perform at on July 5 at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor was abruptly canceled after staff texted his promoter Polo Frost and said they were having staffing issues. Then, they rescheduled another band to play the same day. Only one difference stood out to Polo Frost: race.

Venue didn’t want the liability of potential violence, understandable. But you did take their money, you owe them a refund, simple as that.

Tell him to show the contract. Probably wasn't one. I used to work at blind pig and their far from racist. The last time sada baby came he brought around 50 uncooperative guests who rushed the door and refused to show ID. You'd have to pay me $200 a hour to do that again. And I'm a hip-hop head
Verbal contracts are upheld. All he has to do is show any confirmation of the booking through text, email etc. An advertisement showing he reserved the venue on the said date and time will be the smoking gun if they don’t have a legitimate reason for backing out.
The bar has a right to book, whoever they want to book, money should be refunded though.

He's also a very well respected independent promoter (who works with a number of classic venues around Detroit and has been doing so for 15+ years). He's also a great dude who is very supportive of Michigan artists.
Also the door you're trying to get in is the loading door. It's always locked.

ive seen this happen to a white band I know the reasons not race when your clearly a band moving up the ladder your going to pull a bigger more aggressive crowed they still wanted entertainment its a no one knows their name band no groups or chacers ...so time its just that simple in a weird way its a compliment since it shows they see your star climbing. personally id of loved to be in on the ground floor if I were them

Venue has a right to deny performers, even if they think it’s racist. Issue is they knew the performers and its target patrons, took the money, cancelled, and didn’t refund their money.
