Watch 'Alaska - The Last Frontier' here: • Alaska - The Last Fron...
In Newfoundland, at the easternmost tip of North America, the landscape is pristine, dramatic, and very sparsely populated. In summer, icebergs occasionally drift along the steep cliffs. When the "Titanic" collided with an iceberg and sank just 300 miles off the coast of Newfoundland in 1912, the last radio messages were picked up in a small wooden hut on the Avalon Peninsula.
Today, most Newfoundlanders live on Avalon. There are particularly many seabirds here. In Witless Bay, the newborn puffins are ready for their first descent into the Atlantic. But some stray onto the coastal road, attracted by the lights of the hotels and restaurants. In doing so, they run the risk of being run over. A team of volunteers saves the lives of countless young birds: The Puffin & Petrel Patrol goes out at night dressed in high-visibility vests to collect the puffins. Biologist Sabrina Wilhelm then brings them back to Green Island, home to the largest puffin colony in North America. Here, the birds catch up on what they should have done long ago: the first dive of their lives.

Newfie here. After working in Ontario Canada, Cincinnati Ohio, Nashville Tennessee, Huntsville Alabama, and Juarez Mexico, for me Newfoundland tops the charts for beauty, friendly people, and uniqueness. We seemed to have kept more of the old Irish, English, Portuguese, French, dialect and culture. More Irish and English than the rest. In fact there are several different dialects in Newfoundland; you would think you’ve gone to another province. Worth the visit!!!

Thanks to whoever made this documentary for showcasing our beloved province and the characters of the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who call this place home. We love visitors and will go above and beyond being kind to anyone needing help. If anyone is interested in another documentary search up "Come from away" it's a Broadway musical based around what happened on 9/11 when the town of gander and surrounding towns took in 3,000 people bound for the US. It's a very moving story, and shows the best part of the human spirit that can shine though the world may be mourning.

I have lived here all my 57years and I never take any of it for granted! I tell my kids you live in the best place on earth so you should appreciate it every day. It is true that the weather is the most challenging but boy when we get a really nice day the feeling here is palpable. I have visited many places that have excellent weather and when you meet people on the street and say "what a nice day" they look at you kind of strange. So if you decide to live here don't let the weather dictate your plans too much. You have to embrace every day with a smile, humor and of course good clothes. Lol. Stop and smell the fresh salt air, fog, mist, drizzle, rain, snow, freezing rain, hail, ice pellets, graupel and lots of wind! Never a dull moment here. There are a couple of sayings here like "if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes, it will change" or "if you don't like the weather out the front door, check the back door!" The capital city of St. John's did have the distinction as the foggiest, windiest, rainiest and the snowiest in Canada. I don't know if that still holds true with climate change but we're right up there! Lol. Come visit you won't be disappointed. Better still come live here. You will really love it and embrace every scenic moment! I have to go now there is a whale in my backyard.

Beautiful program but, just a few small things. It’s pronounced New-finned-land with the accent on land. Newfinned-land (understand?) haha. The other thing… there is so so so much more to NL than the Avalon Penninsula. Central, The Loop, South Coast, West Coast and the great Northern Penninsula. Please come back and film some more.

The only thing missing would be a Jersey milk cow or two in the pasture. Day dreaming as a kid 60 years ago . and the home made bread. Nobody could make home make bread like Mom

I took some road trips and every time We hit a highway, I prayed I should not see any dead animal on the road. Sometimes it feels like we really forgot that those lives matter too. The way she stopped to look at feathers thinking that's a puffin was relatable. At the end of the day everyone matters no matter what sizes and shapes

Very nice show!!! I find it funny that so many people can't pronounce Newfoundland correctly :)

For some context, just the Island part of Newfoundland is close to the size of Scotland - though there's a whole other bigger chunk of the _Province_ of Newfoundland (called 'Labrador') that is on the mainland, east of the Province of Québec.

This is titled as a documentary of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador however this video only presents the tip of the iceberg. Pardon the pun. There is so much of Newfoundland was not included. Way of the mark, very sad.

Yerp…. I’m certified at collecting baby birds and feeding them to other birds later but my passion is tape measure avoidance as well as being the official holder-of-the-cod.
    Also my dad’s a mermaid.
The work of Parker and Stone makes sense now. LOL.
