  • We've tested the 23M, 25.5M, 28M, and 31M wings extensively. Using them for 2 dozen students this year and hundreds of hours of personal flying between my brother and I.... We love it!

    Thanks for sharing the video as there are very few out there on the Universal. Having flown one during my PG course (nearly finished) and after flying/ground handling other wings it was a 'no brainer' on which wing I would buy for myself. I now have one on order! Hopefully it should serve me well as I develop my skills in PG and when I move on into PPG. I also agree with you on its inflations. It is by far the easiest of all the other wings I have used so far to inflate. I just had to get used to the lighter feedback/pressure through the brakes.

    Just thought i would give an update on my own experience with this wing now i have a few hours flying it in comparison to my other wing the Ozone Buzz pwr Z4.
    The Buzz pwr is a great free flying wing...the universal not so good unless winds are moderate to fresh (Universal excels in stronger conditions...i use it regularly in free flying coastal conditions up to 20 knots flying with all the other guys and their speed wings) Awesome glider in this respect.
    For ppg...I find the Universal the far superior glider to forward launch and penetrate winds (i fly a lot in windy conditions ppg). My preferred forward launch is using engine thrust...the Buzz simply will not come up through propellor wash without some real complaining...the Universal comes up through it easily. I rarely have any problems launching the Universal...the Buzz is the opposite, i rarely get it up without any problems under power.
    Perhaps a better comparison would be the universal against a roadster, however i dont own a roadster.

    G'day from Australia Eric. Love all your videos. I been looking in to getting in to PPG for a while now and a localish school supply this wing as part of a package deal: motor, wing and course.. As they've put it, this wing will be fine for both PG and PPG... right? I'm on a limited budget and would love to do both.

    • @aviator
      @aviator  Před 5 lety +1

      @@aviator Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The reviews look good on that wing. Sadly it seems that they only deal Dudek wings and the school I am looking at is the most reasonably priced here... shame about the distance though... looking at a nice 4000 KM round trip. www.tribalflight.com.au/paragliding-online-store/productdetails/catref/ppzopd8d/ref/KOh3Pfdr/learn-to-paramotor-equipment-bundle

    How does the Universal compare to the Synthesis 2? Any comparison between Revo 3 and Roadster 2?

    • @aviator
      @aviator  Před 7 lety

      Ah man, those first two are really old designs now. The Synthesis is a C wing vs. a B... The Revo is a much slower wing and less efficient than the Roadster... But it's better than the older designs mentioned above (in my opinion). Drop me a line via phone or email if you'd like more info :) Check out our Spyder reviews for a more modern EN-B / reflex wing :)

    HELP!!!!! Hello again! I'm plan to buy an Universal. But I don d know wether I choose a 23 or a 25.5 one. I'm flying a Miniplaner Top80, and my naked weight is 72-75 kg. What do you think? Is the trque enougt for the 23nm wing? Thank you!

    • @aviator
      @aviator  Před 9 lety

      The 23 would work, if you're looking for a more dynamic ride... But the 25.5 would be a better choice if you don't want to tax your motor, or are not highly experienced.

  • @carloscamposrama2423

    Hi, I have learning and flying with a tandem trike ( Power2fly Fenix) and a tandem wing (Windtech RuBi 42) with a inflight weght of 260 kg (more than 6 kg/m2), I has been solo flying for a year til now. I thinking to buy Universal 1.1 size 25.5 and I will fly with a trike (Colibri) with inflight weght of 130/140 kg aprox. Is to much weight for this size in a trike?. I will free flying with this wing so the 25.5 is the better size for me in freeflight.
    The video is wonderful.

      Mojo is the safest but not the fastest..mojo is a non reflex paraglider and Dudek is a reflex glider with a huge speed range so you need to be aware of that.Read up on the difference between reflex and non.

    • @swift8143
      @swift8143 Před 6 lety

      AviatorShow Thanks Eric. One more question. You seem to really like the spyder. Would you recommend it for a beginner that is looking for a wing that you wouldn't outgrown in the first year? If so, I weigh 172 and plan to fly 60% PPG and 40% PG. Would you recommend the 24 or the 22? I have heard it's better to be I the higher side of the weight range. But i'm kind of lost on how the weight stuff works. You seem to be the same weight as me and I saw a video of you flying the 20. Does that mean you will just go faster and sink a bit faster in a smaller wing?

    • @aviator
      @aviator  Před 6 lety

      I'd look at the Kona if you're going to be doing freeflying also. It's the best of both worlds for sure.
      Probably look into a 26M. We recently sold one to a similar framed gent so he could do both and he's VERY happy. He normally flies a Spyder 24M.
      As for your question, yessir. Faster.
      Also, more wing loading = less lift and more violent collapses etc.

      I have one!!!! ..........no motor though :-( Also flew one with the guys at High5PPG, loved the locked in feel that it gives, and was still plenty fun for me as a new pilot! Flew the Spyder also, it seemed more agile than the universal but not by much, but I didn't get that lock in feel that I liked.

    What's meant by the term "reflex"?

    • @Termuellinator
      @Termuellinator Před 6 lety

      it's a special type of profile that "autocorrects" pitching in turbulent air and is more collaps resistant. so it's a good thing for higher speeds (= low angle of attack, when normal profiles are most prone to collapse).

    • @577buttfan
      @577buttfan Před 5 lety +1

      There is always a trade off,its alot harder to collapse but when and if it does it will be alot more aggressive in respect to recovery.
