I guess for the massive price difference between the Y62 and the LC200 you could - vinyl wrap the hideous dash with any colour you desire (which goes along way to hiding all the faux wood), replace the audio unit, get it lifted and put decent sized tyres and supercharge it. Even then you’d still have change left over. I’m still a LC200 fan but I can see the value for money. Decent dealer demo Y62 S5 are going for $20k + less than the VX LC200. That’s not small change and it opens up some customisation to improve the 62.

I have got this 5 series patrol. It is unbelievable to drive, and almost embarrasses anything else offroad. So effortless and very comfortable with the suspension. It does love the fuel! I would say it is at least 17 litres per 100km city driving. On long drives, the range is good. Overall, best thing i did was buy this car.

when the '19 model was released in AU, I watched a review of the patrol from the UAE. I sent an email to Nissan Au, asking why the variant released here was so dated (dashboard and tech) and when was Nissan going to release the same variants here? I was contacted by their marketing dept and told 'Nissan listens to their customers'. I said that can't be right, because if you read the comments around the place about how Nissan are treating their Australian customers, you're treating them like dirt. again I was told, we listen to our blah blah blah. so I asked the question again and the young lady from marketing hung up on me. an aside: I asked Mitsubishi. according to your site, sales of the Pajero are falling and therefore you are discontinuing the model as from 2021. Given that the model, aside from a little cosmetics hasn't changed in more than 2 DECADES are you surprised that sales have fallen? I have a 2004 exceed that has been around Oz, without missing a beat., why would I spend $62,000 buying the same car I own now? if Mitsubishi decided to listen to their customers and dragged the Pajero into the 21 century it would again capture a reasonable piece of the market. most pajero drivers don't really want to drive a ute and that's all the pajero sport is. I'm still waiting for a response from another company that 'listens to their customers'.
and No, I wouldn't buy the patrol either. In fact it's getting real hard to find a decent, comfortable off road vehicle as they are either very poor in quality (VW, Land Rover) or just outdated junk that couldn't be sold elsewhere...Nissan

Great review !!! The Nissan Patrol sells only in the Gulf. Petrol is 20 cents in Kuwait and Saudi, so mileage ??, Whats that ?? $ 1.70 a litre in Australia. These big SUV are just too expensive in Australia. I lived in Kuwait and water is pricier than petrol. Stick with the Pajero Sports or Fortuner. They are affordable and up the job and COMPETANT

A few people at a couple of nissan dealers have said that australia will get the updated interior late 2020 or early 2021. Also some rumors are saying that patrol next generation (most likely Y63) will be released in 3 years, (but that is something to been seen). I hope they make the patrol a little bigger, for 3rd row and boot, and not smaller like toyota done on LC300.

I find it interesting that when talking about pricing, there is no mention of that little, bend over and grab your ankles' tax called LCT. That was fought for by the manufacturers to protect the local car industry. No local manufacturing and neither the car industry or either sides of government are fighting to remove. So on the ti-l we're paying a tax on around 26k of the price, BEFORE all those other little thrusts the government love so much.

From what I have read and heard, to costly to make it for righthand drive conversion for small amount of sales here in Australia. But Nissan need to get there stupid heads out of there ass and say, well sales may be a lot better if we had the updated interior, no brainer.

Put a diesel in it, get it near the 10L/100km mark and for all intents and purposes it will be a better 4wd because torque is what matters in a 4wd. Not hp. No one is going to track their patrol

@@supaahflyy if horsepower doesn't matter in a 4wd then why is every 4wd comp filled with gu's running ls motors??? It also makes 85% of its max torque of idle (475nm) so it still has plenty of low power if you want to crawl so technically it has more torque across the rev range than a 70 series. Plus on fuel it weighs 3t+ and is shaped like a box. Compare that to a new camaro which makes only 40kw more, weighs half as much and is aerodynamic yet uses 13L/100km out of a 6.2L I'd say the vk56 is a phenomenal engine for its age and size

The resale value is fantastic for these. Dare I say much better than a 200 series LandCruiser.
For example: a good condition 2012 LC200 Sahara can be had for around $65,000, a loss of $55,000 from new.
A 2012 Y62 Patrol TI-L command around $60,000 on the second hand market. Which means it's depreciated around $25,000 in 9 years.
