Awesome video! I feel like this is so relevant all over the country pretty much! Thank you for your hardwork sir. Your map/graph videos especially have absolutely put more fish in the boat! Finally water temps hovering around 52 here Central Midwest. Thanks again! Very humble videos .
Really liking this channel. You cut out a lot of the extra b.s. found on other channels and stay on topic well. Great job and keep it up. Texas noob here. Bought my first bass boat last year. Your tips are super helpful! Thanks again!
I am glad you put the TUBE as a Largemouth bait on this video because two things..I am from down south. Florida, and I have used tubes since i knew they existed...LOL great video Jonny
Cool video! I LOVE the modification tip :inserting a rattle in a tube and Texas rigging the tube. Good stuff there. Ever use a weighted hook with that mod?
Just the video I needed Jonny. The entire Coosa Chain is chocolate milk at the moment. Thanks as always for your great content and tips. Keep posting regularly and your channel will continue to grow. -Cole
One of the best working spinnerbaits (out of the box) was the Hank Parker classic. It was available with Indiana blades and the bait worked great! The problem with some of them I bought, was the extra wire used to wrap the line tie area had a bit of a sharp edge. this would occasionally catch and cut the line on a cast and there would go the bait. When I realized what was happening, I would inspect the new ones and file or sand the wrap ends. Is that perhaps a Jonny Van Gogh there in the background?
@@FishtheMoment not the blade but a small wire wrap around the line tie area... some are twisted, some simply a bend but these were wrapped for extra reinforcement I suppose.
Great video and some unique lure choices! No.2 (flat-sided crankbait) had me wondering but with the bright colors I totally respect ur choice! Great video as always! 👌
You make excellent vids ! Love your bait choices, I never throw tubes but will now and like the rattle idea. I remember Christie throwing that spinnerbait like it was yesterday. Thanks
Are we talking Grand Lake o' the Cherokees if so I'll be there Saturday for the AiA trail, and advice is appreciated my fishing friends, if I can get everything together I may record some of it as well.
Very nice video but it came a few days too late as I faced these conditions last weekend and got skunked really bad!! :-) hahaha... thank you for the advice.
How often do you throw a chatterbait in the mix in these conditions? Thanks, Jonny! Also, always love the flashbacks to the champion youth angler Jonny days!
Not that often, Jason. I find that the spinnerbait draws more bites because it moves more water. I usually start throwing a chatterbait when the water visibility is more than 1ft. A chatterbait will still work in muddy water, but just not as well in my experience. Glad you like the old pictures!
Have you ever tried using single hooks on your lipless baits for better hook ups and less snags. Some Japanese bass anglers and saltwater anglers replace treble hooks with single hooks and report that few fish shake off or pull single hooks. They use single hooks on hard baits for hard fighting fish like GTs, Peacock Bass. Snake Head and Tuna. They also report fewer fish die from single hooks. They also say it makes releasing fish much safer for anglers. I tried using one 4/0 VMC hook on a 1/2oz. Rattle Trap and it worked.I can not tell you how many fish were not caught but I will tell you none of the ones I hooked jumped off. What do think?
For any of you looking to purchase the lures shown in the video I was able to find everything at the tackle warehouse website. I even found Indiana blades.
4:01 Just curious why Berkeley big game? I understand that 20 lb is great but why not an other brand. Here in northern California its severely looked down upon for the thick diameter, poor casting abilities, and the lack resistance to abrasion. I do agree with you that's its cheap but why not buy trilene XL smooth or pline C21, they are all around the same price. Regardless awesome video!!!
Ilya Guryanov hmm that’s interesting. Everyone I fish with in Arkansas loves big game. We also don’t have as my 10 pounders, though!! I also fish a lot of Stren original, but big game usually gets the job done for me.
@@FishtheMoment Ye I guess just diffrent brands have more monopolies in different parts of country. And bass fishing is extremely more prevalent in California. You should plan a trip out here to clear lake or the ca delta;)
Do one for super clear water. My waters here are 1000000 feet visibility... ok, a little exaggerated, more like 20ft, seriously. And it makes the bass so darn hard to trigger.
I have the same problem. Where I mostly fish it's usually muddy water and if you can get the bait close to the fish you will get a bite but when I go to clear water I get a lot of fish trailing my lure but won't bite.
I’d love to have that much snow on the ground. I live in Wisconsin we still have about 2-1/2 to 3 feet of snow on ground and freezing temperatures. Will the lakes ever open up.
Lib Scheuermann yeah I really like the Oval/rectangular shaped O-rings over a traditional one. I don’t know if it makes the bait run better, but it’s easier to tie onto without getting you knot caught in the o-ring opening (where it does from a double wire to a single wire)
Jacob Schmitt I agree on the black spinnerbait! For some reason, I can’t find a 3/4 spinnerbait I like with a single Colorado/Indiana blade so I just customize my own.
I need help trying to figure this out, today i went fishing at a close by Reservoir for smallmouth, its mid April and most of the water is in the low 40’s. So i was looking for some warmer water, i went up into a small shallow creek channel, it was like chocolate milk, less that a foot of visibility and 1-3 feet mostly, but the water was in the high 50’s, much warmer. as i got up into the mouth of the creek a fish exploded in the water, darted to the bank, turned around and slammed into the boat, and took off, I saw several other blowups, all but one happened right next to my boat. So they were caused by me spooking them. Anyways im super confused as to what was going on, will smallmouth move into water that dirty to get warm? I don’t know if they were smallmouth or something else. The Reservoir contains smallmouth bass, trout, yellow perch, suckers, Kokanee, a few chubs, and a few walleye have been illegally introduced. Does Anybody have an idea of what this could have been?
I've found a 7 ft Med Light casting rod is hard to come by, but that is exactly what I want to use also for cranking. I've only got one of my old crankin' rods left and I need a solution before something happens to it, too. What 7' ML are you using?
Haha I know... I hate buying expansive baits. This and a vision 110 are the only baits I would actually pay up for. I will say that I’ve thrown the same flat sided crankbait for 6 years and just changed the hooks. Very durable
Noob here also... trying to paint by the numbers and pick up what you recommend. However in the video you say 3/4 spinner and link goes to 3/8 spinner. Can’t seem to locate what is shown. Red eye shad colors don’t match up with you video. Lol maybe I just need a shopping list.
Hey Gordon. The 3/4 spinnerbait I show in the video is discontinued, so I linked a War Eagle spinnerbait. The war eagle spinnerbait only comes in the 3/4 oz size in a few colors so you’ll need to scroll through the options on the page to find them. As far as the Red Eye shads, I just found the colors on Tackle warehouse using the link. The colors are “Gold Black” and “Sam Rayburn Red Craw”. Hope that helps!

Nice work! I've watched your video's for some time now and really like the info that you share. My question is; do you peg your flipping tube?
Mike Welter I always peg it!
Since you are talking muddy and relatively cold water, what retrieve do you use with the lipless? Yo-yo off the bottom? or steady? Other?
I see you have some type of O-ring on your flat sided crankbait. Do you use this for better movement of the bait? Do you recommend it?
