  • Blum is a german hardware manufacturer that has been the king of the US market for long time. Still today is one of the most desired brands for cabinets makers and homeowners.
Nevertheless is not the only premium hardware company on the market. And during this chapter we want to introduce you another great soft close hinge brand: Salice from Italy.

This is the only Salice hinge review I could find but it's not my hinge model: Salice CBP2A99 for 3/8" lipped doors. In 2010, I hired a contractor to install Salice Euro style sets of hinge and plate for my updated 60's cabinets. I purchased the hinges through Rockler. Since then, one by one they have been failing: when we open the door, a plastic c clip breaks and pops out of the hinge, flies across the room (we're lucky one of them hasn't hit us in the eye) . I believe I see the same/ similar plastic piece when you flip both the Blum and the Salice hinges over (0:32 and at 0:59 it's between your left thumb and index finger ) at the first joint from the cabinet door inset. I do not know whether this problem is a design issue, a manufacturing flaw or an installation issue. Rockler doesn't have much to say to me since they were purchased 12 yrs ago and Salice has requested me to send them the broken parts. I am hoping to hear from anyone else who has experienced same/ similar malfunction. thank you.

The first mistake was buying anything from Rockler.

How are they working so far? Do you do any inset cabinetry with Salice yet?

So far we have no complains. We have not used it yet over an inset cabinet. We will keep you updated. Thank you!

Hettich is also a good brand. We switched totally to Salice for now and it is working great so far.

    Pronounce "bloom" not blum.

Warum glauben die Amerikaner, dass es sich auf "Plum" reimt?
