      Can't answer that, not all houses have the same electricity needs. Depends on a lot of factors and what appliances you plan to use.

    We have used the czcams.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    Great video. Some notes: the max output is 600 wats. That's why the power tools and heater only pulled 600. I'm not sure that you'll actually be able to cut very much wood with it, because the tools won't have the juice they need under load.

    Thanks for the comprehensive review. In December, I purchased an EcoFlow River Pro with 160 W solar panel for my shed from their website for $655. My lawn care equipment (lawn mower, weed eater, trimmer, etc.) are all Kobalt battery powered tools, so I wanted power in the shed to recharge the batteries for these devices. In addition to having a charging option, I also installed interior lights that are connected to the RiverPro. And, since the generator and solar panels are portable, I can use it in the house during power outages or take it with me for outdoor activities. I use it much more often than I thought I would. I recharge it about once a week so with an 800 recharging cycles to 80% battery capacity, it should last a few decades before I'll need to replace it. That comes out to about $2.73 per month, an exceptional deal in my opinion.

      @@TKCL That would be amazing!! I mean... not that going through a hurricane is amazing... but you get what I'm saying. Once I get my plans finalized, my wife and I are going for a week long camp trip using ONLY the River Pro and solar. We're bringing radios, heated blankets, GPS, powered grill, cooler, 2 Ebikes, lights, cameras, a drone, Wi-Fi hotspot, heated portable shower, and the typical gadgets(tablets, phones, etc). We are going to do reviews on everything we bring to car camp/glamp with the Pro literally being the center piece tying everything together.
      Anyways keep up the reviews. I REALLY like your format for this video(excusing the glare, which I totally understand), but you excluded firmware updates for a positive feature, and cons of this device. There aren't many cons for the Pro, I know(i.e. fan noise, Bluetooth for those away from a network/convenience, LiFePO4 cells next time), but it may give Ecoflow insight on improvements for their future products, and help consumers narrow their decisions.

    17:04 It's using its voltage drop magic (they call it X Boost) to keep the load under 600 watts. The river pro does the same thing with my Keurig. Heating items like hot plates will work but they will never get up to the highest temperature. The appliance will be capped at whatever temp it can reach with 600 watts.

    • @jaycarneygiants
      @jaycarneygiants Před 2 lety

      @@krisyas3136 it depends on your machine. The ecoflow is going to lower the volts to keep the wattage around 600. If your machine can heat up at 600 watts ( like my keurig) it will work. But there could be some circuitry in it that prevents it from working. "HOW" does ecoflow accomplish this? I'm not sure that's why I called it magic lol. Sorry couldn't be more helpful

  • @JustVinnyBlues
    @JustVinnyBlues Před 3 lety +19

    One thing to remember is that the boost works by reducing voltage. Therefore, any device that requires an exhaust fan you cannot run continuously. The device will run hotter but the motor and exhaust fan will run slower. So there are some things that can overheat.

    Good Video. Resistance (heating element) loads are killers, they will drain this thing in short order. You need to check your saws at full cutting load, not just startup. FLA is with the saw cutting or grinder grinding, not startup. I'll keep my generators for most applications. It obviously defaults to 600W max. output, that is why "Low" and "High" on the heater does not change with the load. That "brownout" of the refrigerator is concerning as such low voltages can cause damage to compressors and electronic control boards of some of the fancier refrigerators. Nice for use in a closed space as you said.

      If he had disabled x-boost for the fridge/freezer test there shouldn't have been a brownout when the compressor kicked on. However he left x-boost on when testing all appliances, not just the ones that require it.
      X-Boost lowers voltage (intentional brownout) when draw goes over 600w to handle loads up to 1800w surge/running, however with X-Boost off it can handle surges up to 1200w starting, 600w running.

    Thank you. Good review on this. It's my understanding this unit will compensate over 600 watt appliances by reducing the corresponding voltage somehow. No idea if that damages the appliance or tool, but it does allow it to run for a while. Also, the chop saw ran, but will it run when your putting more torque or load on it cutting wood? Saw another video where it cut out in that scenario. Its not an end all be all, but with modern technology is the best I've seen so far. That said, I still think it's worth having as it does power a lot, great when SHTF scenario, light and easy to move around, and charges very quickly, eliminating having to buy a lot of panels. Someone I know uses it as a UPS for his computers because of the bypass function where it can be charged and still power at the same time

    If you could do a test with X-Boost disabled that would be very informative for the appliances that don't require it to see what runs and what doesn't. Your fridge, freezer, DeWalt batteries, blender, laptop, tiny AC unit, etc. should not need X-Boost enabled. This would show us if the inverter can handle important appliances (mainly the fridge/freezer/air conditioner.)
    Also, while not likely, the X-Boost function could damage your laptop charger and is actually strongly recommended to have X-Boost disabled when powering "sensitive" electronics. X-Boost is solely for devices needing more than 1200w, like your 15a (1800w) circular saw.
    With X-Boost disabled: 600w running, 1200w surge.
    With X-Boost enabled: 1800w running, reduced voltage as demand increases (aka brownout.)

    I got myself River pro, but I am having second thoughts:How about safety? Some of the appliances like refridgerators should be grounded for safety reasons. There does not seem to be a possibility of that. There is a screw on the device, which is described as the earth screw but the sockets (at least on the European version of River Pro) are not of the type that would connect to the grounding. And I found one device that River Pro is not able to power a gas heater (this is a heater for central heating and water, it requires some electricity for controls and the pump). When plugged into River Pro, at first it seems to work, but does not give the spark to light the gas. I did some googling and one of the answers stated that it is due to the lack of grounding.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 2 lety

      Hmmm not sure to be honest, you do realize no generators (gas or electric) offer grounding right? It's up to the consumer to ground to earth for obvious reasons. I'm not familiar with the power requirements of what your trying to power, have you tried it on boost mode?

    • @NN-bk6xc
      @NN-bk6xc Před 2 lety

      @@TKCLI found out what is the problem. I got confused about the grounding, because the sockets on River Pro (international version) do not look like our normal sockets that provide grounding. In case of a power outage I simply need to plug the powerstation into the socket on the wall (even though it does not have electricity, it provides grounding) to get grounding for the appliances. They could have actually mentioned it in the instruction manual. My gas heater also works now (it uses natural gas from the gas network but it does not work without electricity).
