    Thanks so much for all these lectures but I'd like to add Miro's "Dutch Interior" is based on Hendrick Martensz Sorgh's The Lute Player/The Lutenist (1661)

    Norman Rockwell as you say is an illustrator and for a time graphical artists seemed to show the way to the craft of drawing. It is having something to aim for and when a person is reaching out to emulate someone, then illustrations had an aim to represent life in picture form. One could see the skill involved in producing a visual format. Unfortunately as you say illustrations is often the lesser in Fine Art.

      Yeah, when I was in school people were really down on Rockwell. I'm happy to say that I have lived long enough to see his reputation revised upward as people has reevaluated his impact and significance.
