Jokes aside, the R3 is a good bike at a bad price, so it has its pros and we just can't ignore those. But yeah, on the whole the Aprilia is hands down the better bike

Hey Pravin, the Ninja is a lot more expensive than the other 2, we were aiming for bikes that are in a similar price bracket. Thanks for the suggestion though

R3 hands down is the all rounder. Its a decent track machine and a cool tourer.
RS 457 not so much with its committed stance and low fuel economy.
Similarly R3 is not a track beast. It is a decent challenger at best. Thats it.

But you will have a very good bike in your hands. And trust us, as comfortable as the R3 is, it'll still make for a fantastic track bike!
Yamaha only is responsible for its fall. R3 could have been such a hit had they done some tech updates and priced competitively. But Japanese companies never learn from their mistakes

Personally I would have bought the R3 for sure if it would have been priced competitively. Other than that I love the R3 for the bike it is.

Man it was a pretty bad comparison. He had only one thing to say again and again the ergonomic. Common man a bike has the right to be a little stiff. And I have rode the bike and it's not as bad as you are portraying.

And yes, sportsbikes have to be stiff but they can be that in varying amounts and the Aprilia is the stiffer one of the two

Let's be accurate - the R3 is not 'retro', it's simply an older model. Yamaha is dumping its outdated stock at a premium price.
It's not been updated properly in quite a while so yeah, in the company of modern day bikes like the Aprilia, it can feel quite dated

Arguments being made for Yamaha R3 is just plain stupid as if they are justifying hard to compare R3 with RS457. Its correct that if you want practicality and comfort get a naked or ADV, why bother buying a fully faired sports bike. Aprillia RS457 hands down is the best bike to get if someone wants to learn fast responsible and alert riding, and enjoy it thoroughly on race tracks. R3 doesn't even come close and specially with that pricing.

Ok, Why are we comparing RS457 to the R3 in the first place?. R3 is never in the game. RS457 and Ninja 500 are Ying and Yang. The R3 is just a Boring, Older, Feature-less bike that looks like a R15, with very poor value for money.
It's ironic that Yamaha had the guts to re-release it now with all the competition going ahead. It was already a dud back then.
We understand your frustration Alex but trust us, the R3 is anything but boring to ride. Do get a test ride!

I knew I couldn't afford R3 or the RS457, so I bought the next best thing RR310 BTO. But You know what bike I liked so much in the past. R3. That older model which looked so much awesome. Then they redesigned it to look like R15. Only then I started to notice the drawbacks in it. When you like a bike for its looks and performance., you usually can forgive other things. Although this performs well. The competition is so much ahead. If Yamaha thought their brand value is sufficient enough to sell this, or People would not be intelligent enough to choose wisely. It's high time they changed their mind.

But yeah, I get it. Some of the other details about the R3 is the fact that it just doesn't feel special. The levers feel cheap and wiring is all over the place. So that big bike feel, especially at its price, is lacking. The Aprilia, on the other hand, feels EXTREMELY special. So the disappointment is very, very valid. It definitely is high time the Japanese get serious about their performance bikes
