I love this machine! czcams.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g Assembly was a snap, only the handle had to be put on and it slides right in. Then a container filled with water and solution. This is not a vacumme cleaner, although the makers say you don't need to vacumme first. It is mainly for solid floor surfaces, but has a rug setting too. I have no rugs, so only used it on my pine wood floors. The machine has a mopping type rolling thing on the bottom, that scrubs the floor with water mixed with cleaning solution. A small bottle of the solution comes with the machine. Dirty water goes into a second compartment. The machine work worked quite well. It isn't very loud, and my floor looks so much better than when I mop it. Best of all, it is so much easier and less messy to use than a mop and bucket! I had a couple of things that might be nice, but not necessary. One is if the cord would retract into the machine instead of having to be managed with one hand. The other is that the amount of floor covered by the amount of solution seemed to be less than stated. But then, I might have gone over the floor more times than intended. I hope I can find the cleaning solution easily, I don't know how available it will be!

I like the fact that our place rug in family room has embedded short hair from my French bulldog and for over a year my Shark Apex can’t budge most of the hair. As soon as I got the V15 it cleaned it up in only two passes on boost mode. I like that I don’t need to lug an upright around to get stairs vacuumed. And it gets the edges clean. After doing my music room my rug looks like it was shampooed. Hasn’t looked this good in a while, and it’s usually vacuumed once a week with the Shark and maintained daily with my Roomba J7+.
I’m a neat freak and so far I’m enjoying this cordless, powerful vacuum. I have a Dyson DC44 cordless that’s 10 years old. Its in excellent condition. I use that for small jobs like hair in restroom, it’s not the strongest and I thought the V15 would be better, but this is on a whole different level of better. My docking station arrives tomorrow.

I have the V12 and i have two Golden Retrievers and the dustbin being small is a non-problem for me. I only have to empty the bin once during cleaning and then of course when i’m done.
I vaccum once every day, since i can’t stand dirt on my feet when walking around.
The advantage of amazing ergonomics are well worth the cons.

Confused why you said there is a huge price difference. The price difference for retail prices is $100 in the U.S., but for Black Friday I found them both on sale on many websites. At Home Depot, I can get the V15 for $585 with the Black Friday sale and military discount. For the V12, it’s on sale for $500. I’m upgrading from a V6 Absolute, and the larger bin and longer battery life seem to justify the price differences for me. Then adding better carpet cleaning and no hair tangling for main carpet brush, and I think I’ve made my decision. The push button feature is nice, but it’s not enough to justify the other compromises in my opinion.

What about hairs in the fluffy head? I only have hard floors, so will be using the fluffy head mostly. But I guess hairs just tangle around the fluffy head. I could use the other head first and then the fluffy head, but that'll be double the work.

    • @CordlessVacuumGuide

The laser slim roller is surprisingly good even with hair will wrap around the axle, since it has a gap. The chunkier Fluffy tool in the V8, V10, and V11 is decent in my tests up to nine-long hair, but some of it will wrap on the roller itself.

Hi, based on your needs, I think the best compromise for you since it's mostly hard floors is the V12 Detect. The smaller bin is a downer but it's the one I use the most inside my home. Strange as it sounds, the V15 and Gen5 Detect may be too powerful for light area rugs, the V12 too, but you could use the torque screw tool to vacuum it. Anyway I just published the Dyson Gen5 and V15 Detect comparison video here >> czcams.com/video/V65Cr3tDDNA/video.html I hope this video helps.
