"So what?" is an important phrase for me. Sounds almost too simple to be anything but it is powerful.
Absolutely it is. Is your band playing out anytime soon?
@@PainFreeYou - Not to much lately! We have a show on March 16th. :)
Please remind me and if I'm around, I'll come out and watch. @@deirdrefinnegan5436
I've posted abt this on your episodes that early on in my journey (Feb 2019) I had a headache on a damp rainy cold day in NY. I was going to take a cab home. Instead I walked 20 min to the train station, I felt slightly better. By time my train got in, 40 min later, I was fine. Another thing I started to do bc of your info, if I woke up w headache,Instead of freaking & staying in bed, I get up, drink water, move w ease. And I feel fine.
Love it. Thank you for sharing your experience. I remember that story of you walking in the dreary day.
I was recently told that even saying “don’t panic” will connect our brain to the word “panic”. Instead, say to yourself “stay calm” - it works for me.
i’ve recovered id say 80% from my chronic symptoms but a terrible headache a few days ago was enough to trigger some negative thinking and health anxiety that led to a flare up, this video has come at the perfect time thank you
I have a flare up now. I had been doing so well, but this time my pain moved to my hand . I am grateful for you Dan ! This reminds me i can beat this every time!!🎉
Wonderful! Yes you can.
I have some chronic Triggerpoints in the glutes & quads for 3 years from now due to overactivity in sports (cycling and running) Tried everything but always temporary relief. Chiro, dry needling, massage, heat/icepacks, stretching, PT. MRI lower back, hips, pelvis totally normal. The Pain test was 38 points. Never heard of tms before & doctors/therapist never mentioned it (I’m from the Netherlands) Now that I’ve watched a couple of your videos, things become more and more clear….
I've been doing so good with the tms for a while, but two days ago it flared up. So this was exactly what I needed today when my brain started spinning "oh what if I ate something bad, I need to stop eating that". I know now that my brain percieved danger because I started to work out a few days ago. I got fever, ache and got tired, but I didnt care about that. So the brain went "well you can't ignore diareah!" My worst nightmare... Im gonna beat this one too! 👊
Thanks for a great reminder! ❤
Dan here reading my mind through the aether.
Me too
Reading mine too 😊
Yup me too😢thanks ❤
I’m in a flare up, good timing! Thank you 😊
Perfect!
Wow ty listen to this 2x now know what to made a game plan dont freak out i have the game plan with me 😊 love you always ❤
These videos are the best. Alway need reminders how to react when things turn south. Thanks!
Glad you like them! Yep, as calm as possible.
Dan I love your daily videos they help me tremendously !! TMS is all about repetition until it finally sticks!
Yes.
Definitely good timing. I got some CT results and I KNOW my pain increased simply because of learning what’s going on in my spine. So I will say “so what?” and know that this flare will pass. I’m ok. I’m safe.
You got this!
Thank you for the work that you do ❤
Having a huge fat big flare now for weeks try not to panic ❤love you Dan ❤️
Yip back/neck pain came as other symptoms calmed 😅🙈
Great video! And if you have a pet like your beautiful cat, they are always ready for snuggles and great listeners 😻
Yes they do
The best thing you said is being curios instead of fearing
Wow all my tests say I’m fine and X-rays show no organ damage to my heart or lungs but wow I can. Still feel symptoms from the brain that’s interesting haha
Thx Dan❤❤❤❤
Thank you
You're welcome
When i have a flare-up, i actually started using a slight alteration to your "im okay"/"Am i okay?" technique. Instead, I use, "I'm okay, right?". It's a slight tweak, but it asks the mind to reinforce the idea that you really are okay. I assume that I really am okay and tell my body/mind to find the supporting evidence for that
I like that. Love it actually.
Timely as always Dan-have been making a good recovery from CFS for 10 months, living mostly ‘normally’ and recently easing gently into exercise but only building up my walking, was feeling good then last night seemingly out of nowhere strong fatigue symptoms x trying to figure out where i’ve gone wrong and of course worried and bewildered both of which arent helpful so will take your advice re creating a game plan as have had other flares in the past year and they always take me by surprise so thank you ❤
You don't need to figure out what went wrong. Just go right back to confidence and calm reassurance.
@@PainFreeYouthanks Dan x there’s such a strong need to know what happened when symptoms flare so you don’t repeat it but I know you’re right 👍 for the first few hours i feel anxious and retrace my steps to see what I did before accepting it and taking the correct approach so a ‘game plan’ is definitely needed! 😘
Figuring out triggers only shrinks your world. The trigger doesn't matter. The response to the pain matters most. KNOW you are well and calm your fears. @@seffie4363
@@PainFreeYouthank you Dan, I appreciate you taking the time to reply ❤
Thank you Dan, just what I needed as a reminder today! Thank you for your honest, clear heart to heart talks 🙏❤
You are so welcome

So thankful for your videos. I needed this today
Happy to help!
Dan, your coaching skills are so good I wish you lived in our spare bedroom. I could just walk down the hall for my dose of encouragement. Thank you

Thanks for this video Dan. I'm in a huge flare now.
LOVE seeing Finn in your videos! He's precious.
This video provides the map on the quickest way to get the flare down and gone.
Thank you Dan. In a painful flare, how did you know 😏 Doctor said it was the barometer changes causing my nerve and fascia pain to ramp up. I watched this twice and took notes to implement and say "so what" to my brain 😊❤❤
Finn’s response cracks me up. Are you going to say hi to the camera? Guess not… Cats 😂😂😂
Haha
😂
Dan my friend i learn from you i expalin my whole problem to myself that my mind was scared and misinformed
Thank you for sharing such great information 🌺💗🙏🏻Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Dan, such a helpful video. Planning a trip for the first time in years and of course my brain is freaking out! Going to make a flash card now! Love it when your beautiful Finn makes a guest appearance 💗🐾
You can do it!
Yes dan exal the dought inhale the clearity , give your mind safety msg that i m ok i am not broken
It’s the level of pain that scares me 😢so is it only medication that could break the cycle? How can I not be scared of extreme pain
I fear extreme pain, also.
My fear would be; what else is the medication doing/going to do. Being scared is fear fuel to ramp up the signal/sensations. Response is the way out
We all fear extreme pain. But how we respond to it determines how long it stays extreme. My fast start playlist will help. DansFastStart.com
@@PainFreeYouthankyou, I like that you don’t use the f word in your advice [fiybro] as I think giving it a name is giving it space and time, hope you know what I mean
@@princesskaideka rightfully so. Since its just a medical label for TMS that perpetuates fear. Fear is the enemy
Dan you are most suietable person in you tube whose word very clear
Thank you.
Dan, first a word of gratitude. By steadfastly staying in the path charted by you I am now in a much better place symptom-wise (pelvic pain). Over the past week there has been a spike in the pain, albeit in short-lasting bursts. Is it possible that my anxiety and fear surrounding the prospect of a cataract surgery in the foreseeable future is the possible trigger? Thanks and warm regards from India.
That certainly is possible. But you don't have to figure out the trigger. Just go right back to safety. Know that the stress of an impending surgery does not need to create more pelvic pain today. Get clear on that and get back onto safety.
@@PainFreeYou Got it! Thanks again. You are the best.
Off balance have ear wax so now convinced that’s the issue n panic n can’t stop thinking about being off balance 😢
a good ENT can clear the ear wax. If the off balance feeling continues, then it's TMS/Perceived danger. The fear is not helping and is likely making the symptoms stick around longer or more intense. Safety is the way.

❤ Hello Dan ❤
So thank you for your videos. A pain returned in my lower back that I hadn't had in months. I didn't make any wrong movements in particular. I've always heard doctors say "it's because of your lower back that you have pain." So normally I have a good mindset but with this pain that reappears my brain is in mode "if the pain returns = lower back problems = are the source of the sciatica and pain in the leg". I try not to believe it but as the brain bases its reasoning on this old pain that has reappeared, I admit that I have fear. And it's funny because the brain makes connections between the lower back pain that comes back and all the other pain; whereas yesterday I was calm and I didn't make any connections. "I was like, no big deal, It's just TMS".... Do you have any advice please? I did all the possible assessments but the return of this pain scares me a little because my brain says "before you thought it was TMS but this pain that you've already had before and which reappears proves to you that it is structural". My brain won't win the game but I need a helping hand, please. THANKS ! Cheers ;)
The advice is in my daily videos. But here is a point to remember. If your back was the problem, why did the pain go away before? It's not your back. The perception of danger is the only thing going on. Safety is the solution. The doctors are wrong. They don't understand this stuff. They have no solutions.

your answers are so supportive THANK YOU! DAN, I'll carry on ❤ ;) @@PainFreeYou
Hey dan I've been in fear for two years of high alarms on all the time istress etc is it never to late to start training brain even iu r wired all the time extreme anxiety pain sui
What if you don’t consciously have fear at the moment of a flare up?
The subconscious runs the show regarding the presence or absence of pain. The solution is the same. Jump right into conveying safety.
So tired of all this, wish there was a magic switch UGH
Frustration is not part of the solution. KNOWING you are already okay and teaching your brain that FACT. DansFastStart.com - watch, take notes, IMPLEMENT, repeat till better.
Wait I'm confused bc in another vid you said don't push thru...??? So please clarify for my P brain ty
Hi Dan, I need your help! I had chronic back pain for more than three years until I read John Sarno‘s ‚Healing Backpain‘. Interestingly before my back pain started, I had skin problems, it was diagnosed as Rosacea, got the treatment and it was gone in a couple of weeks and then the back pain started. Now the back pain is gone after I was aware of TMS. In the last few days my skin problems have started again, it is exactly the same as the one I had three years ago. I have a feeling that it is due to TMS. Since you have interacted with many in this community, could you please share your opinion and if it is indeed TMS, do you have any specific videos or literature that can help. Thank you so much for everything that you are doing. Extremely grateful!!
The flare up increases fear. Afraid of fear. Makes me sick
Reducing fear will reduce the flare up. Don't let the pain lead the way. Let your mindset lead the way. Have you watched the Fast Start Playlist yet? DansFastStart.com
