I'm a straight male, and I have always thought he was a good looking man, for girls to swoon over. What I can't figure out , is why women throw their underwear at Dwight Yoakam who is only 15 years younger. Maybe they go for that tattered jeans look. Neil is more accomplished.
WE were all so very young when this song came out. It was the year I turned 18. I was married and my husband had turned 21. It was the year in Canada that the age to go to a bar or pub as we called it, was lowered to 18, ironically just after he turned the old legal age of 21. So that year we could both legally drink alcohol. He did not think it was funny at all. We managed to stay married quite happily for 35 years. To my surprise, he called it quits and the joke was on me as the BEEGEEs sang. Still love him and I’m 73 this year. Still love Neil and this song.

I have this memory frozen in time of this song...growing up in the early seventies, and an older friend who had fallen in love for the first time. I stopped by her house on a Saturday to find her listening to a 45 of this record, on one of those record players that opened up from a little suitcase. It was broken, and it would stop going round, but she would turn it with her finger to keep it going. She didn't care if it sped up or slowed down, she just had to hear it some more. I just stood there watching her play it over and over, thinking about that boy, wondering about love and what secrets this song held for her ❤

I'm a straight male, and I have always thought he was a good looking man, for girls to swoon over. What I can't figure out , is why women throw their underwear at Dwight Yoakam who is only 15 years younger. Maybe they go for that tattered jeans look. Neil is more accomplished.
So handsome too !
@@skipdow3.... he is smoking hot !
agreed! he does, by far, have one of the most sexiest voices of any male singer! .....well said
WE were all so very young when this song came out.
When you're 14 and you listen to this song when it first aired, you think everything is going to be good for the rest of your life.
It definitely is an uplifting tune!
Clasica
That's a perfect description, absolutely...
Great song to help me re-enter "the world" after coming back from combat tour in Vietnam.
Thank you for your Service🙂🙏
God Bless you from Sylvia UK 🇬🇧.
Welcome home!
Thanks for service from 🇬🇧
Thanks for your service!! God bless our Vietnam Vets
This record is 47 years old and yet ageless! Still sounding great after so many years!
You Gone And Made Me Feel Old And Good..............
So very true, ageless
Great songs never die, right ?
The guy singing it is 76 now, and he can still sound nearly as great. A song about wine. Look it up !
He's got Parkinson's Disease
Cracklin' Rosie, get on board
We're gonna ride till there ain't no more to go
Taking it slow
Lord, don't you know
Have me a time with a poor man's lady
Hitchin' on a twilight train
Ain't nothing there that I care to take along
Maybe a song
To sing when I want
Don't need to say please to no man for a happy tune
Oh, I love my Rosie child
She got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in style
Cracklin' Rosie you're a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me, girl
Our song keeps runnin' on
Play it now
Play it now
Play it now, my baby
Cracklin' Rosie, make me a smile
God if it lasts for an hour, that's all right
We got all night
To set the world right
Find us a dream that don't asks no questions, yeah

I think one of the things that made him so popular, is his songs are so easy to sing along with.
One that always comes back to me is Shilo.
I was seven or eight I'm 53 years old now reminds me of my childhood had a good childhood growing up may God bless love y'all
Nobody else can captivate an audience with all their flash and fire works, than he can just sitting on the stage and singing.
Thanks for being a fan!! I just wanna appreciate you in particular for being a fan and you should keep supporting me it brings me so much joy that I'm able to put smiles on your faces and hearts. 🌴🌼💋💋
Wholly agree
You never met my Jesus.
yep...no tricks or smoke or dancers...just talent!!! Amazing
@@lilpoohbear653 that's how it was then; you had to be damn good to make it; Elvis is the only other from that time that i can think of who only needed himself to put on one hell of a performance - no strobe lights & smoke, no help to powerfully elt out a song
Neil is the best of the best..I'
AM I SAID...BUT IM FOREVER IN BLUE JEANS....WHEN HE NEIL WAS AT FENWAY.....SWEET CAROLINE... im 80 and still listen to and appreciate NEIL
My older brother loved this song, and so do I. I remember going to meet his ship when he was in the Navy. He died a little over a year ago.Three months after his wife. I cry everything I play it, but it makes me feel like he is with me.
🙏
Sorry for your loss
So handsome with a beautiful voice.I have always love Neil Diamond

When your born with the name, Neil Diamond, how could you not be a star ?
Thomas Furlan probably not his real name
shining bright
NOT his birth name.
Ernest Kovach it is his birth name
Just a boy from Brooklyn that made the big time!! Sing it Neil!! 🎶 💪 👏
Love this song. Brings back very special memories ❤
I was 8 back when i first heard this song.. im now 60 and still loving it!!!❤ thank you ND....
I'm a wine expert and one of the fun stories I always love sharing at wine events is that Neil wrote this song about a rosé wine. They have a sparkling pink wine in Canada that they call, "Crackling Rosé" that inspired the song.
how many songs have those "hidden" meanings or messages that so many people don't understand; one such is the great "Whiter Shade of Pale" (Gary Brooker & Procol Harum); the live in Denmak version is fantastic
This keep me going awhile I recovery in hospital ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love Neil diamond
That was one of my dad's favorite singers I would be sitting in the backseat mom and dad would be up front smoking cigarettes listening to coming to America I miss my dad I would love to have a conversation with him today. Press on in the good work Mr Neil diamond
Sorry to hear today of his Parkinson's. Such an amazing performer. Wish you the best, Neil Diamond!!
Made me so sad to watch him on Times Square on New Eves Year 2018 with the mic shaking in his hands.💔 So, so sad. We are all getting older.
Brilliant
really?? another one? :-/ just thinkin of glenn campb.
@@candym2835 so true candy. So awful when in the mind you feel like you did in your youth...you are so lucky to have seen neil in Times square..l guess you are from New york..
@@candym2835 or did you mean you saw neil on TV
this song never gets old..
Gary Simms 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Exactly, only us old wrinklies are getting old.
Gary Simms Amen to that
Timeless. 🎶
Love this
I grew Up with this Song.
I dont know why i remembered this Song today. Am i getting old ?
Music isn't a generational thing... I'm 41. Good music is good music, period. Most music I listen to is from the 30's through the 70's. I love the 80's too. From Sinatra to Skynyrd, I welcome it all.
I never get tired of this music. Even cowboys dig it!
Neil is one of the best things to come out of America, I’m a Brit and don’t say that lightly.
Born in the best era for music.
The superb Neil Diamond. Absolutely legendary singer 👏👏👏
Rip Quinn my dear friend this was one of our songs ❤️
Love ya Benny
He was just so handsome, love his hair, voice everything!
Very sexy
Hello Sandra
Hope you are safe due to the pandemic?
@@williamsscoot4655 Same to you. Yes I am safe and well.
Neil’s music helped me through a dysfunctional upbringing, he really is part of me.
Iam from 66 and love this
I have no words... utterly fabulous ❤
I'm now 106, with 6 kids. 22 grandkids, 54 great-grandkids and 52 great -great -grandkids. Neil Diamond got me through World War 1,2 and those other wars. Plus 3 marriages to horrible women. He even pulled me through a harrowing bout with gonorrhea in the 40's I don't know where I'd be without him. God Bless you Neil, you are one in a million!
Jeez, if modern songwriters could produce stuff like this the modern world would be more bearable.
@Fire and Ice or maybe you just haven't heard it. there's stuff like this and better being released every day but instead of finding and listening to it, you'd rather just stay ignorant
@@stephensealls9229 well, why don't you provide some links if they exist rather than complaining about them complaining
Joey Vindictive you can’t search yourself? whatever. look up mac demarco, cuco, small forward, the counting crows, mt. joy, daniel ceaser, frank ocean, it looks sad, and much more. stop making dumb claims you know nothing about
@@stephensealls9229 i didn't make any claims but I'll look up a few of those and see if they actually sound like this. I do know counting crows sound nothing like this.
Joey Vindictive no songs from today are going to sound exactly like this, but it’s even better now. mt. joy, small forward, mac demarco, post malone are just modern versions. also, look up “friend of the devil” by counting crows, it sounds pretty similar to this
Crackling' Rose... About a bottle of wine!!!
You're the man Neil!!😅😅✌
I play this when I get lonely. Reminds me of my grandma Alspaugh. She had a great life time. Signed Debrah Alspaugh Bentley.
What an extraordinarily talented man, Neil Diamond is! One of the most gifted singer/songwriters of our generation, and we've been SO blessed to have him and his music to enjoy!😄💒
Jody Wilke a superb talent Jody
But he can't save your soul. Only Jesus Christ can do that.
Neil Diamond was and is a genius in music! No one compares.
But he never offered to die on a cross to save us from our sins. He can't save our soul like my Jesus can.
One of Neils Best., Thank you Neil.
At least here, with Neil, we dont need anybody to post lyrics.....because Neil sings you a song, clear and strong....and you can understand him. Good times.....
My parents used to take me to a restaurant in the 70s and they had these little jukeboxes on the wall and this is one of those songs they always played good memories this in December 63
God ! I miss the 70's.
Yes, me too, but they live in us, our memories, those of us who were Lucky enough to have lived in and beyond the 70s!
AghaniZaman Best yrs. of my life! I loved the 70s
AghaniZaman i miss the 60's great times, every thing was so new
You are not the only one the best music the best movies tv and the sky was true blue.Shame I will not see Neil in concert with his recent diagnosis of Parkinson's Quality in music is extremely rare.
Pat Jenkins California in the 70’s probably the greatest place on earth then
Wonderful. May all have shining 2024 ❤
wow just burst into tears! never realize how that song has so many 1970's memories tied to it!
This song hit the spot in 1970 and still does in 2021.
I remember taking a girl named Cathy to the Persimmon Festival and we had a unforgettable night that night! Neil was singing this song and we were laughing and singing along. His music was great and she gave a lifetime of memories. Rock on Cathy!!!
Wow ,amazing just love neil Diamond

From the fall of 1970, I remember where I was and what i was doing as this climbed up the charts!
He’s singing about a cheap wine, not stealing another man’s woman. Always loved the song, even more so now.
It's a song about not having a girl. And instead comforting yourself with booze.
This album belongs with the greatest of the rock era, or any era....
Amen
I have this memory frozen in time of this song...growing up in the early seventies, and an older friend who had fallen in love for the first time. I stopped by her house on a Saturday to find her listening to a 45 of this record, on one of those record players that opened up from a little suitcase. It was broken, and it would stop going round, but she would turn it with her finger to keep it going. She didn't care if it sped up or slowed down, she just had to hear it some more. I just stood there watching her play it over and over, thinking about that boy, wondering about love and what secrets this song held for her ❤
