I would love to see a showdown between “Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” vs. “The Day that Violence Died” (which was shown briefly in the intro to “Simpsons Showdowns”), an episode about Censorship vs. an episode about Copyright; both are episodes on Itchy and Scratchy, how the public sees them, someone opposes what they represent, how the aftermath resorted to a change on human life, and how it got brought back by a major setback. “Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” has three things for their case: 1. The Introduction to I&S Studios. - we get to see who was behind the wraparound segments that Krusty the Klown is involved with. It adds layers to the hard work that animation has to go through in presenting a story. The behind the scenes of Itchy and Scratchy reminds me of Rocko's Modern Life, with "I Have No Son", in which we get to see inner workings of Bighead Studios (or BS). 2. We get more “Itchy and Scratchy” Fun - they have 10 shorts within the episode (three of them are censored clunkers done on purpose, but seven of them are pure gold). Each segment is different, but really highlights why Itchy and Scratchy is so iconic to the Kids of Springfield. Legend says that, externally, Itchy and Scratchy was inspired by Herman and Katnip, which makes sense when you realize how gruesomely violent the cartoons were compared to Tom and Jerry, which mostly dealt with being kicked out of 3. It talks about the pros and cons of Censorship - Parents have the say on what they want their children to watch; and it's still going on to this day. This episode highlights the effects of censorship, trying to appease both kids and adults. A lot of cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes have went through this before. It also mocks some people see nudity as sinful as violence, even though not everyone thinks the same thing. It’s like politics; when you have a double standard, you can’t win. “The Day that Violence Died” also has three things for their case: 1. Itchy was created by someone else - In this story, we learn that Chester J. Lampwick is the real creator of Scratchy's abuser, Itchy. We also learn that Roger Myers Sr. is a plagiarist, and that he stole Itchy to claim as his own character, just so Scratchy would be tormented. It’s no wonder why Roger Myers Sr’s cartoon “That Happy Cat” (starring Scratchy) was a clunker in the episode “Itchy and Scratchy: the Movie”; no one liked stuff that has no conflict. 2. Lionel Hutz joins the Feud - Because it’s an episode on copyright, Lionel partakes on the law related stuff. We get a lot of cool jokes coming this episode because of it, like the "Objection, Sustained" gag, and the "Surprise Witness" lineup. Lionel Hutz is the Phoenix Wright of Springfield, before Phoenix Wright was a thing; he just loves to be the surprise hero. It's no wonder Devin Stone of LegalEagle fame favors Hutz over Wright. 3. The Aftermath of a Lost Culture: Throughout the episode, we see how the pairing of Itchy and Scratchy is important to Springfield, that the disappearance of said Iconography would lead to great sadness. Plus, unlike the SJW variant of Itchy and Scratchy from the previous episode, the "Amendment to Be" song is iconic and palatable; I will take a Parody of School House Rock that is fun, over a self-parody that is more harmful than helpful. Whatever the case may be, both episodes have their flaws, but are good in their right. I wouldn’t pair “Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” with “The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show”, since the “Poochie” one had nothing to do with what the former two did in similarity, and the title is like a parody of the OG Marge centered I&S episode; it’s nothing more than the writers of the Simpsons mocking new characters that have poor introductions; with the title mocking the very thing people loved about the series before. “The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show” feels more like an episode meant for a showdown with “The Front”, another episode with a similar premise involving Itchy and Scratchy not getting the attention of the audience. Overall, I don’t know why “Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” vs. “The Day that Violence Died” didn’t become a showdown video.
I have always thought the storeline in, "you only move twice" was brilliant how the perspective of a mad man trying to take over the world was shown though the lens of Homer Simpson being completely unaware...
WOW MAN SERIOUSLY? YOU MANAGED TO LOOK THAT DEEP INTO THIS CRYPTIC EPISODE? LIKE, BOND WAS THERE EVEN! Jesus fucking Christ man, that's like getting a hint of Jesus after anally inserting the Bible.
I don't think he was putting on an act, either. He's really a super nice guy, when you overlook the whole trying to take over the world. All our world leaders should just fold and let him be the ruler, he's already proven he's a very kind boss so he'll do us good.
I love that this joke is an actual subject for DEBATE among Simpsons fans. Because Homer could either be thinking of an entirely different time he saw someone say goodbye to shoes, or be referring to exactly that time three seconds ago, and both are solid jokes.
I love how you only move twice ends I love how homer barely even realizes he's working for a villain and scorpio is actually a good guy to homer through the whole episode. He's clearly an evil guy but he never heel turns on homer. The fact that he's a super villain is actually nothing to do with why they leave and that's hilarious. I think Scorpio is actually good to his employees genuinely because of how readily he lets homer leave. If he were truly calculating then he would have seen homer deciding to leave for his family's happiness as some sort of betrayal and he would have heel turned But he didn't. He was good to him from start to finish. It's a great gag having a megalomaniacal super villain as a genuinely good person to work for. I think the writers were trying to answer that question - why be a goon for an evil mastermind? The answer they came up with was "what if he's actually a great boss" I loved it My vote certainly goes to that. It's hard to vote against sideshow bob, but the irony of Scorpio is just too good.
cape feare has more memorable jokes and scenes but you only move twice is a better funnier more constant written episode cause its not just a parody of a movie...they are both classics though
One thing I'm incredibly impressed by is that Cape Feare is the most padded episode of the entire classic era, and it's somehow still a standout among some incredibly stiff competition. The episode has the long chorus line couch gag that the writers use whenever an episode is a bit short, it has the rake gag, which was also there because the episode came up short, and it even has a second version of the opening sequence. When you're able to make _filler_ that funny and memorable, you've threaded an almost impossible needle.
You Only Move Twice is my all time favorite episode solely on the ending with the military storming the compound and Homer walking through all the chaos completely unaware. Scorpio throwing the grenade, the woman doing the flips before snapping that dude's neck, the jets flying by and shooting missiles, Hank saying to kill someone on the way out, it's just so freaking hilarious.
Having now been to both countries, I can't choose! France has amazing food and architecture, but Italy has just-as-good food, pretty views and lots of nice art. Okay, so I didn't like Rome much, but I wasn't completely well when I went there. Naples was good, and it was pretty warm for winter. I only went for one overnight trip to Paris, but it dazzled me. I should definitely visit the Louvre if I ever get another chance to go...should really have done that last time, but time constraints...
@@razkable At least we don't feel the need to let school children to shoot each other while charging the parents for their hospital treatment, enjoy your dumb ass, backwards, 3rd world country...
@@razkable you're just stupid, judge a country based on what they did so much time ago on war and not looking at the beautiful culture and food of italy. You can't stand italians because of this? We are really gentle and nice people, what an idiotic comment!
I thought it was kinda early to do another subscriber milestone video, so this is my de facto 10K subscriber special. Wanted to take a look at two of the all-time greats. Enjoy! :)
I countered the copyright claim and Fox let it expire... The copyright strike was revoked and the video came back. Kinda chalking it up to a random occurrence, maybe the video description did it. The Kittens video stays as a monument to the whole kerfuffle. (I hope this video is still up tomorrow when I wake up.) :p
cape fear is superior and the rake and elephant and cactus joke is perfect but last exit to springfield tops any episode imo....dental plan......lisa needs braces...need I say more?...its basically the rake joke but with just sound instead of slapstick and it was made a year earlier...they copied the same format for the rake joke where it goes on a little long but gets funny again the more it occurs cause they are short on time and need to fill some air...
It’s funny how he wants to be John Elway in one episode, yet doesn’t want to own the Broncos. Also, Homer has sort of hinted at liking the Broncos and wants them to win on more than one occasion. Just shows how he forgets these things quite easily. Also, after You Only Move Twice aired, the Broncos won the Super Bowl two years in a row after.
I've always enjoyed 'You Only Move Twice' a lot more. "Maybe it just fell down on it's own?" "We can't take that chance." "You always say that. I want to take a chance!"
I think you only move twice may have been the real jump the shark episode for classic simpsons..the show never was as good or the same after it aired...fan response was so positive so the show went into a more surreal approach to writing episodes cause it got so much praise that every episode wanted to be on its level in terms of fan praise and quirky style ..it may have broke the show..
Yeah, Sideshow Bob already had some episodes, but the fact that many simpsons fans remember a villian that just appeared in one talks about how memorable it is.
Plus I just loved he was a genuinely nice guy who just so happens to be an egomanical mad man bent on world domination. Like the niceness wasn't an act at all.
Hannah Shribman-Brown Despite the Show going somewhat downhill at the end of the 90s in terms of plot and character, I think the show's hilarity didn't really fall out until around Season 14. But even that is golden compared to the horrible, cutesy, humorless, *extremely* self-referential garbage pile it is now.
Well, yes. I own Season 14 on DVD, and it still had some decent episodes. "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" still gets a few laughs out of me. I own Season 15, too, which was still decent. Still, Season 11 is probably my least favourite of the first 15 seasons - that or Season 13. I mean, seriously, Season 11 seemed to think it could get away with doing anything and have the audience still love it regardless.
You Only Live Twice is a great episode of the Simpsons with a great guest performance. Cape Feare is a shining example of 90s sitcom television at its finest.
I can't decide, both episodes are great that it's hard to come up with a paramount for either! You can't put that kind of life altering decision upon my life sir!
Maybe I am in the minority, but I really wish You Only Move Twice would end with Simpsons staying in the new town. It felt so refreshing for me to see old characters in a new environment. I wish we would have at least a few more episodes with Mr. Scorpio.
That could be a cool idea for a spinoff series. Being unable to do housework, Marge decides to give art another try, Lisa tries various ideas to deal with her allergies for an episode or 2, maybe trying on a mask, going to the chemist before deciding to be a shutin who uses internet conferencing for her studies. Bart decides to take over the class by rallying a few kids to revolt against his teacher. He becomes the new teacher (possibly with Lisa getting opportunities for assist sessions) and looks for ways to teach this new class whilst looking out for anyone trying to overthrow him. Homer continues working with Scorpio and shows them a few tricks he picked up in Springfield.
hank scorpio is one of my favorite simpsons characters of all time, so is sideshow bob of course but sideshow bob has had so many more lines that he's bound to have more mediocre lines. Everything out of scorpio's mouth is gold lol. His delivery is amazing and the witty side-stepping of the way he speaks is fantastic Also that scene where lisa calls the chipmunk reticulated is sooo adorable
While I love both, I am biased towards Hank Scorpio. Cape Feare does have the more memorable and punchy jokes, but I just love Hank Scorpio and everything about him. I kinda figured which one you were going for and I wish they would have brought back Hank. He was a character that could have come back as a force of nature. BTW, love your videos.
It's a tough one, but You Only Move Twice is my personal favourite episode. "Good work Homer! When you get home there will be another storey on your house."
Cape Feare has the rakes, the chainsaw and hockey mask joke, the Mr. Thompson joke and is overall just a more hillarious episode. I hate to say that as You Only Move Twice is one of my favorite episodes of all time, but it's second only to Cape Feare.
Do you know how hard this was for me to decide? These are literally my two favorite episodes in the series! Sideshow Bob and Hank Scorpio are also two of my favorite Simpsons characters (actually, Sideshow Bob IS my favorite).
I don't know why, but I've somehow came to watching these lil videos whenever I'm feeling super anxious. They really distract me in the best way! Thanks for making them 💛
God !!!! My 2 favorite episode of the simpsons...it's like choosing between my two children !!! Damn Cape Feare is kinda better because it has the most iconic jokes !
I think I'd go for You Only Move Twice, because I think that with its humour, it's more accessible to people who don't necessarily watch cartoons in general.
Slideshow Bob's HMS Pinefore is probably the best Simpson's musical of all time. Kelsey Grammar nails it perfectly. I actually want to see him in an operetta
Agree completely with this. Both are fantastic episodes, but Cape Feare has all the classic moments one remembers when they think 'The Simpsons'. It was a favourite of mine when I was younger. I could never get enough of the 'The Thompsons' and still love the 'I think he's talking to you' scene. And I mean, when you think 'Sideshow Bob', you think of the whole rake scene and the big musical on the boat. The whole Panda's locked in Moe's is another quintessential scene IMO, one of those moments you never forget.
Both episodes are great but Cape Feare has always been my favorite episode. As you mentioned it has so many iconic gags and deep belly laughs that sends it to the top. One of my favorite moments is when Homer asks if they want to drive through the cactus patch and you hear Sideshow Bob’s low moan ‘No!’ And Homer “Well three against one!” And drives though it, oblivious to the fact that only 2 of his kids can talk. 😂😂
Do by any chance watch a lot of theater? There's a play you would probably love that's built around the Cape Feare episode. It's called "Mr. Burns," it's about how pop culture evolves over time in a post-apocalyptic world, and we see several interpretations of Cape Feare, each more over-the-top than the last. If a production of it ever goes on where you have a chance to see it, I'd highly recommend it to any Simpsons fan.
You Only Move Twice is the better one imo. Scorpio is an incredibly interesting character, and I wish he showed up more than once. It also sticks with me better than Cape Feare, because I had never seen the source material or the HMS Pinafore musical, unlike the much more wide spread James Bond parody, when I saw them back when they first released.
When Homer asks Hank if there's any sugar and Hank just has handfuls of loose sugar in his pockets then asks if Homer wants cream might my favourite Simpsons joke ever
Yeah, but look at who he's talking to...the ignorant people of Springfield who would obviously never be able to make that distinction , so that would make it even funnier
I know Hank Scorpio is a supervilain...but he's probably the best boss and life coach homer ever had in the entire serie ! Yeah he,s trying to conquer the world, but he actually giving great advice to Homer, like follow your dream, do what you think is right for your family, don't be affraid to try some new ideas... and damn that hamac idea is actually pretty clever if they had laptop !! Also nobody choose France ! lolll I just love that character...wish they used him once more...
The right choice was made by a wide margin. The thing I like the most about Cape Feare is that there is a joke in here for everyone, no matter what type of humor appeals to you. Like repetition? Here are some rakes and elephants. Like unexpected shock humor? This episode does it right, no matter how many times Homer wants to give me brownie before I go to bed. Like making fun of everyday, mundane situations? Just ask Mr. Thompson. And if you disagree? "2 against 1!" I do not think it is the best episode of the series, but I DO think it is the funniest. My favorite overall is probably Homer Badman for just being so relevant to real-life while still being relentlessly funny.
Have you seen Mr Enter's Admirable Animation review on Homer Badman? That was the point he made - that it's topical and still relevant, but really funny with it. "That's your solution to everything - to move under the sea. It's not gonna happen!"
Cape Feare is peak Simpsons even though I LOVE You Only Move Twice. I feel Hank Scorpio was at a disadvantage since there's more history to Sideshow Bob and Cape Feare is arguably his best appearance, where as Hank Scorpio is considered by many to be one of (if not THE) best One-Episode Simpsons Characters.
Dude I've got a great idea Lisa vs Bart vs the third grade vs lisa on ice the clashes between Bart and Lisa Plz do this my favourite is Lisa on Ice because it shows a competitive side to Lisa and gives her a chance of being popular but at the end she would rather have her brother 😀
Respect. These were pretty good arguments, and the debate style presentation is awesome. I personally like "You Only Move Twice" more than "Cape Fear". I dunno if it's just the overall parody of something else that draws me away from it, or if it's just the Hank Scorpio character just really sold me on the episode. I can say that for some reason "You Only Move Twice" is the least stale of the "Simpsons move out of Springfield story lines.
Scorpio and some of the jokes really make it a pretty easy choice of You Only Move Twice, for me - even though I do like Cape Feare a lot. Scorpio is absolutely brilliant because he's a great guy and the ideal boss, and the fact that he's a supervillain doesn't really factor into it - moreover Homer never really notices or acknowledges this, even though it's referenced throughout and Homer even interacts with this side of Scorpio when he tackles James Bont. That and a lot of the other best moments in that episode are funny because they're just ridiculous (Scorpio having sugar in his pockets, "You ever see a guy say goodbye to a shoe?", Scorpio's jacket, "When you go home tonight there's going to be another storey on your house", stuff like that.) Also, "Want some cream?" "Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh..... no." Actually, I don't want to ramble but another great thing with Scorpio is that a lot of the time he operates on Homer's intellectual level. When Bont accuses him of being mad, he just calls him a jerk, he immediately agrees with Homer's hammock suggestion, all that stuff makes him just that extra bit more likeable.
I'd say the Bob-Rake Theory's success in execution comes down to one crucial factor: That extra beat. You start with the inciting action. The action repeats, and there's a chuckle at the repeat. The action continues to repeat, and the joke risks going stale. It still goes on repeating, and it generates new laughter. This can only happen once, so something needs to happen after that realization of "OMG, it's STILL going!" Enter the change of perspective in this scene, where it is suddenly revealed just how many rakes surround Bob. We then see he runs into the same rake, which gets another laugh. As the scene closes, we're amused wondering why Homer ever parked there. That change in perspective was crucial to the joke's longevity, and it demonstrates why this scene works and something like "Peter Griffin pushes dead frog in shoebox out of window w/ pencil" doesn't. The other scene has nothing else to it other than waiting for the joke to end, and that's never (hardly ever) a good sign.
You Only Move Twice wins for me simply for this one iconic line - “What’s wrong with this country? Can’t a man walk down the street without being offered a job?”
While I like both episodes, "You Only Move Twice" never really stood out to me. But from your argument, I see why people love it. I love "Cape Feare" more, probably, but Sideshow Bob is my favourite Simpsons character, so I'm probably a little biased. Still love the movie theatre scene! "Wait, I've got a good one now! Marge, say 'stay away from my son' again." I can't think of anything I don't like for either episode, though. I actually do have a different opinion about the dramatic music during Marge's wine-drinking - it felt pretty out-of-place. Maybe I was too young to get why it was so funny last time I watched it. I felt really sorry for Bart, though - he got a pretty raw deal in both episodes. He was either being stalked, or stuck with a group of kids who can barely articulate themselves.
I really like the melodrama of the wine-drinking thing. It plays with Marge's unhappiness, but viewing it through the lens of Marge drinking a glass and a half of wine as being scandalous. Which, for Marge, is a pretty deep descent. Maybe it's the fact that this is such a silly episode that I view that piece of drama to be over-the-top and silly as well. That scene kinda skirts the line of serious and silly in its presentation.
you only move twice is a top 10er all time for sure...its too funny...is it pointless story wise yes but because its just jokes jokes and more quick jokes it can do what the classic simpsons does best...satirize real life and tv sitcoms pay homage to movies while also turning average jokes on their heads and coming up with new angles on classic bits.....cape feare marge vs the monorail and last exit to springfield also fall into this category...they are just too funny not to put in your top 10-15...the simpsons at the end of the day are a comedy series...they are paid to make us laugh...these episodes do it the best..
Congrats on hitting 10K subs! I'm rather a late newcomer to your channel but I really enjoy your content and look forward to new videos from you knowing it will be done with respect and be entertaining if not educational in some way. Anyway, *my two cents* on this showdown of two top Simpsons episodes: While _Cape Feare_ is a really good episode I personally have to go with _You Only Move Twice_ for various personal reasons: fond childhood memories (I remember watching it with my parents when it first aired), the James Bond parody aspect of it, the satirical humor with a dash of situational comedy, and that this was one if not the first show where I rooted for the *bad guy* to win.
I can't believe YOMT drawing out the moving out of Springfield was categorized as a pro lol. We know in both cases this is impermanent and CF wisely cutting to the chase speaks to how methodical in its approach it is. I love when the Simpsons gets musical and a spectacular parody. I actually think it's legitimately more freaky than the remake. As someone who thinks the original is so much better this episode existing most likely because of the remake gives sense and meaning to a thing existing that I don't really care for, and that is truly priceless.
I reached the same conclusion with just as much careful thought. Both are top-tier episodes that everyone should watch, and they each do things better than the other episode (YOMT has the better ending, Cape Feare has a greater atmosphere), but I ultimately consider Cape Feare the more focused experience. Now it's fair to say that YOMT works as well as it does because it doesn't just focus on Homer & Hank, but Cape Feare to me just seems like the more complete package. Referencing the earlier review, it's quite impressive just how well they balance real stakes and comedy, never veering too far into one side or the other.
I didn't see the remake of Cape Feare until probably 25 years after I first saw this episode, and I literally just learned it was a remake a few minutes ago, but it didn't affect my original enjoyment of it. If anything it made me appreciate it even more since I was able to enjoy the humour in a different context.
Cape Feare has more memorable and iconic moments, but Hank Scorpio is easily the best one-off character in Simpsons history. Every single line of his is amazing.
You Only Move Twice is the funnier episode for me which makes it the better one; every single line that comes out of Hank Scorpio's mouth is hilarious. But I completely understand why you went with Cape Feare because every part of that episode is calculated to fit with the pacing which makes it more coherent as a whole episode. Also, while Marge and Lisa's stories in You Only Move Twice aren't the worst ones they've had, they're still not satisfactory compared to the genius of Hank Scorpio's character. It makes me wish that they had just focused on the stuff with Homer all along, but then it might have felt too stretched out. So even though I have a personal preference for You Only Move Twice, Cape Feare is more objectively the better episode, so basically I agree! XD
I think Scorpio is like your first proper boss who tries to be friendly and welcoming and you feel really cares, but then you see him or her dealing with a problem or disciplining an employee and suddenly you realise they're ruthless after all. Homer represents that innocence of the teen realising the working world can be even more tough than high school, albeit taken to a bit of an extreme in this episode.
Very tough competition! They are both really good episodes. Cape Fear always pulls me in well and I can feel a legitimate sense of suspense during the story. However I do like Hank Scorpio a lot too. As cool as Hank is though, I think maybe I’m a little more partial to Cape Fear. I just love Sideshow Bob’s humor. Still I really do like both of them myself!
Actually the "Die Bart, Die" joke worked pretty good in the German Dub of the "cape fear" episode. Partially because this is what audiences here would read first anyway on Bob's chest.
Why didn't they ever reference Hank Scorpio again? I mean, even if they couldn't get t he actor back for an episode, I would have loved the occasional lampshading of the fact that the east coast has been seized by a super villain that promotes universal health care and a high minimum wage. Stuff like just seeing a poster of him in an episode set in New York or something.

“Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” has three things for their case:

Overall, I don’t know why “Itchy and Scratchy and Marge” vs. “The Day that Violence Died” didn’t become a showdown video.
The fact that they used an entire elephant just for the word "the" cracks me the heck up.
Die word "die"

I think the writers were trying to answer that question - why be a goon for an evil mastermind? The answer they came up with was "what if he's actually a great boss"
I loved it
My vote certainly goes to that. It's hard to vote against sideshow bob, but the irony of Scorpio is just too good.
Not to mention gifting Homer a football team for no reason after he had left.

Personally, I prefer You Only Move Twice, but I'll always remember my Dad completely losing his shit over the rake gag in Cape Feare.
cape feare has more memorable jokes and scenes but you only move twice is a better funnier more constant written episode cause its not just a parody of a movie...they are both classics though
Thowmp....Eeehayiyi! Thowmp....Eeehayiyi!
The rake gag is so dumb it's hilarious.
let's face it, therake gag is funny NOT because of the slapstck, but because of Bob's reaction to the entire thing.
What's your least favourite country? France or Italy?
France.
Hehehe. No one ever says Italy...

You just don't understand football Marge.

It's funny that Cape Feare was considered the Shark Jumping episode for the Simpson, back when it was released.
Really?
I think you only move twice may have been the real jump the shark episode for classic simpsons..the show never was as good or the same after it aired...fan response was so positive so the show went into a more surreal approach to writing episodes cause it got so much praise that every episode wanted to be on its level in terms of fan praise and quirky style ..it may have broke the show..
@@razkable I feel like all of season 8 was still good, You Only Move Twice was at the start of the season, but regarding seasons 9+ I agree

Yeah, Sideshow Bob already had some episodes, but the fact that many simpsons fans remember a villian that just appeared in one talks about how memorable it is.

Do a Simpsons Showdown with two utterly terrible "modern" episodes against each other. Which one is the least worst?
Soooo...Seasons 11 and 12 don't count? He did "Kill The Alligator and Run" vs "Simpson Safari" as horrible episodes.
No, by modern I mean an episode from the last five years or so. Seasons 11 and 12 were ages ago.
Well, I really meant that that showdown fit half the bill, right?
Cape Feare is my personal favorite episode of The Simpsons.
Good choice!
BART YOU WANT TO SEE MY NEW CHAIN SAW AND HOCKEY MASK?
You Only Live Twice is a great episode of the Simpsons with a great guest performance.
Cape Feare is a shining example of 90s sitcom television at its finest.
Poor Sideshow Bob... all he wanted was quality children's programming.
You Only Move Twice is an episode that I'm happy to watch again in reruns. Cape Feare is an episode I wish I could watch for the first time again.
His delivery is amazing and the witty side-stepping of the way he speaks is fantastic
Also that scene where lisa calls the chipmunk reticulated is sooo adorable

While I love both, I am biased towards Hank Scorpio. Cape Feare does have the more memorable and punchy jokes, but I just love Hank Scorpio and everything about him. I kinda figured which one you were going for and I wish they would have brought back Hank. He was a character that could have come back as a force of nature. BTW, love your videos.
It's a tough one, but You Only Move Twice is my personal favourite episode. "Good work Homer! When you get home there will be another storey on your house."

Slideshow Bob's HMS Pinefore is probably the best Simpson's musical of all time. Kelsey Grammar nails it perfectly. I actually want to see him in an operetta
Didn't expect the "You've got some attitude mister" at the end 😂😂
The "The Bart, The" joke bothers me as a German speaker, because "Die" is feminine. Technically it should be "Der Bart, Der".
Yeah but as a villain trying to fob off and lie the real meaning of the tattoo, it fits. He tells a lie, and the people buy it.
Nancy cartwright
A joke doesn't have to be fully accurate, that's the beauty of it.
I prefer Cape Feared due to how tight it is. They're both great, though.
These are literally my top two episodes of all time. You Only move Twice is my fav of all time, Cape Feare close behind.
Nice video, sir!
This is a cruel matchup. I can't pick between these two.
"2 against 1!"
I do not think it is the best episode of the series, but I DO think it is the funniest.
Your going to have to put some sugar on that celery or get out mam
Hank scorpio isnt a villain, hes jut a misunderstood working man having some problems with the government. He's a hero, if anything.
Dude I've got a great idea
Lisa vs Bart vs the third grade vs
lisa on ice the clashes between Bart and Lisa
Plz do this my favourite is Lisa on Ice because it shows a competitive side to Lisa and gives her a chance of being popular but at the end she would rather have her brother 😀
Both episodes are great, but Lisa on Ice would beat the other hands down.
Good point
"We paid for bloooood!"
No lisa on ice vs my sister my sitter bart vs lisa showdone
That and a lot of the other best moments in that episode are funny because they're just ridiculous (Scorpio having sugar in his pockets, "You ever see a guy say goodbye to a shoe?", Scorpio's jacket, "When you go home tonight there's going to be another storey on your house", stuff like that.)
Also, "Want some cream?" "Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh..... no."
Actually, I don't want to ramble but another great thing with Scorpio is that a lot of the time he operates on Homer's intellectual level. When Bont accuses him of being mad, he just calls him a jerk, he immediately agrees with Homer's hammock suggestion, all that stuff makes him just that extra bit more likeable.
Any chance of simpsons mystery of what happened to Hank Scorpio after this episode?
Gsmoove Dagmus killed in the shootout, in hiding,
Gsmoove Dagmus I thought he seized the east coast
Then he went underground for a while, assumed the identity of one Russ Cargill and became director of the EPA.
"You Only Move Twice" was my favorite episode along with "Simpson Tide"
"hey kids, want to drive through that cactus patch?"
yea..yeah ..no!
..hmm three against one" 😂
Also the sound of him continuing to step on rakes off-screen after the scene transition.
Marge, say 'stay away from my son' again."
I can't think of anything I don't like for either episode, though.

Anyway, *my two cents* on this showdown of two top Simpsons episodes:
While _Cape Feare_ is a really good episode I personally have to go with _You Only Move Twice_ for various personal reasons: fond childhood memories (I remember watching it with my parents when it first aired), the James Bond parody aspect of it, the satirical humor with a dash of situational comedy, and that this was one if not the first show where I rooted for the *bad guy* to win.
‘Bart do you want some brownie before you go to bed’ to this day, has me in hysterics
You only move twice is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen it’s my favorite Simpsons episode
My two favorite jokes of all time:
Hank Scorpio: you want some cream?
Lisa: Oh no, Dad's been drugged!
Marge: no he hasn't
"BY LUCIFER'S BEARD!"
"Ever see a man say goodbye to a shoe?"
I didn't see the remake of Cape Feare until probably 25 years after I first saw this episode, and I literally just learned it was a remake a few minutes ago, but it didn't affect my original enjoyment of it. If anything it made me appreciate it even more since I was able to enjoy the humour in a different context.
I have 1 word for you: Swartzwelder.
Cape Feare has more memorable and iconic moments, but Hank Scorpio is easily the best one-off character in Simpsons history. Every single line of his is amazing.
Both are animated perfection, Awesome review.
6:20 The Simpsons was the first joke to do the James bond spoof. Now every show and movie is doing it!
"Oh il stay away from your son alright , stay away forever!"
Got any sugar round here?
"Sugar yeah here you go sorry it's not in packages...want some cream?"
XD
I'd totally work for Hank Scorpio, I've worked for Walmart and he seems less psychopathic.
I started binging your videos on Saturday
cape fear is my #1 Simpsons episode of all time.
You only move twice for me it's just such a classic
Very tough competition! They are both really good episodes. Cape Fear always pulls me in well and I can feel a legitimate sense of suspense during the story. However I do like Hank Scorpio a lot too. As cool as Hank is though, I think maybe I’m a little more partial to Cape Fear. I just love Sideshow Bob’s humor. Still I really do like both of them myself!
Actually the "Die Bart, Die" joke worked pretty good in the German Dub of the "cape fear" episode. Partially because this is what audiences here would read first anyway on Bob's chest.
you da best the real jims you just got another sub

I for one would say the Sideshow Bob episode is better just because I have a crush on Sideshow Bob
