  • Camouflage was the first(?) record to come with a computer-based promo video on its b-side. Here it is loading on a real ZX81, playing from a Technics SL1210mk2 turntable and showing on a Sony PVM-9220ME. Cartridges used are Shure M44-7.
Stick around to the end for a bonus :)
If anyone wants the video or any of the bonus games to play on an emulator, you can download them here : drive.google.com/file/d/1xwZ4...

Wow, thanks so much for sharing this, running on real hardware! Chris was never recognised as the grandfather of UK multimedia - so far ahead his time; you know he was, he really was! ❤️

Very sad to realise that Sievey died virtually penniless only a month after being diagnosed with cancer. The man was a chaotic genius who had some influence on my childhood growing up. I'm glad people rallied together after he passed to cover the cost of his funeral, but he shouldn't have gone out like that. A real shame.

It's great to see this running on real hardware, nicely put together video as well! I've been involved in the demoscene for more years than I can remember and still make productions for 8 bit computers, absolutely fantastic to see Chris was doing things like this as early as 1983!

Sievey was born a decade or two too soon. What a fascinating character. Gotta admit I don't care all that too much for the Freshies, but his sessions with Hannet yielded some very good stuff.
From his bio (at least the one written by one of his band mates), one may take a kind of a bum, but I like to think of someone born during a time of profound transformations, but that held some anticipations that turned out to be rather incompatible with his surroundings.
He was not a great singer (IMHO), but definitely knew how to get the most of his capabilities. And as a programmer, I would say the same - it's easy to dismis the programming skills of a mere enthusiast, but at times, he did show some rather impressive achievements

Fantastic, at this time there was a great production of intelligent things using very little resources... 😍😍😍

Thanks for that. I remember ordering this in the W H Smith store on Argyle Street, Glasgow after seeing it advertised in Home Computing Weekly. I asked for the cassette version and they ordered vinyl by mistake. I think it was also featured on a TV show.

That's pretty far ahead! Usually you hear about Peter Gabriel, The Residents and Billy Idol when it comes to early multimedia experiments. Sievey doesn't get the credit he's due.
