    A review of the Master Grade Hyaku Shiki Version 2.0.
    It's been a while, but I'm still making these. I got a 40 hour a week job a little while back, so that cut into my time hard, but now I don't have that any more (it was seasonal) so I'm back to having enough time to work on these.
    Expect another review soon. It's practically already done.
    - Production notes -
    -My 2nd review using Adobe Premier, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm using it to actually create a style for the look of these reviews. Using the same fonts, color choices, drop shadows, ect. It's been a lot of fun.
    -I got much more consistent light with this review because I put the LED on top of the camera, then blasted soft light. That made the lighting more consistent, and I used other lights from around my house to create shadows to give it more depth. Too bad this is a reflective kit, so it's all sorta wasted lol
    -I shot all the still images for this review in both jpeg and RAW. I just used the jpeg's for the review because I wanted to knock this out quickly. But in the next review I did (Gundam Alex), I actually took the time to use RAW files and it looked soooooo much better. Maybe one day I'll go back and re-edit this Hyaku Shiki review with the RAW files instead. It'd really cut down on some of the glare from the gold.
    Wow, thanks for reading all that. I hope it helps you in whatever video production you do. Here's a reward: • BALLS JUST WANNA GROW UP

    One feature you didn't mention is that this kit is compatible with the Ballute System from the 2005 MG and comes with its own attachment parts.
    (To be fair, this is one of your older reviews so there's always something you're gonna miss back then)

    I personally think the proportions look perfect. Overall a 10/10 kit for me. Only downside is the sticker decals, should have just made everything dry transfer.

      I cut them out, held them in place with some tape, then just used my nail to transfer the decal. I didn’t want to use a coin or something to transfer them in case it slipped and scratched the gold coating. Thanks for asking!

    I think the main problem about the proportion that i have is that the torso is a bit too tall

    • @redheadphones6
      @redheadphones6  Před 4 lety +2

      You're not wrong, lol. There's a lot wrong with these proportions, and it suffers a lot from the 'modernization' a lot of kits have to deal with. Part of me want's to take a look at the ver 1.0, just to see some more bulky proportions.

    • @redheadphones6
      @redheadphones6  Před 4 lety +2

      It's definitely not as tight as it could be given the interchangeable eyes, but I didn't have any serious issues. You might be able to use a little topcoat or cement in the connecting section in the head to make it more snug. Best of luck!

    • @sanictheedgehog
      @sanictheedgehog Před rokem +2

      I know this comment is a year old but maybe someone else is wondering the same thing so I'll answer. DO NOT top coat this kit. You have a good chance of ruining the finish and the top coat actually scratches easier and is more noticeable than the regular parts by themselves. Just don't take any knives to it and you should be good. There's a video on youtube of a guy top coating his kit then and showing what it looks like and comparisons between things.

    How do you clean up the visible area nubs on the gold parts without scratching the rest of it?

    • @redheadphones6
      @redheadphones6  Před 6 lety +3

      With a coated kit like this, there isn't a whole lot you can do. I personally just got the nub down as far as I could with just an exact-o blade rather than use sandpaper (which might mess up the surrounding gold). Then I used a gold paint marker over the nub to try and blend it in. I'm sure there are better ways of doing it, but that's the quickest and easiest for me.
      The only real way to get this kit looking perfect with no signs of nubs at all would be to buy one of the P-Bandai releases of this kit, which don't have the coating, de-nub it really well with sand paper and just apply the gold yourself.
