Great video! The one thing that needs to be done after a full day of combining is to swipe off, and vacuum out all the wheat chaff so it’s doesn’t smoke/spark up do to hot out side temps, or hot machine temps, if their is a hot liquid leak of any kind, their isn’t any chaff they can soak up the hot oil, transmission fluid, or hydraulic fluid!
Yes, very important to grease all the grease fittings, those combines have alot of moving parts! You are quite the conversationalist Katie :) Happy Harvest!

Kate, assuming our older 9600's are set up similar with the control for the "starting aide" , that yellow button is to inject ether ( also known as starting fluid ) and should never be pressed unless its necessary to use in cold weather. Ether used in a wrong way can severe damage an engine, just a word of warning. Now as to priming the system if the combine has sat for months such as over the winter, again if its similar to the 9600 system, the key is turned to the run position and can do that for a half minute or so as you will hear a faint sound of an electric lift pump and that ensures there is no air in the fuel system and not have to crank the engine over excessively. I hope that helps you out kate, since I assume your dad is quite familiar with the combine talk to him about what I said and see if he agrees. A plane with a carb, indeed that primer pump knob you pull out and then push back in is injecting av gas into the intake manifold as they don't have a butterfly choke system to enrich the mixture to start a cold engine.

G'day from Australia Kate, my father was a wheat farmer when I was your age back in the 1970s. He actually used a PTO Combine towed by a tractor in those days, also you would get some cracked wheat which would need to be collected in bags hung off the side of the Combine, actually made excellent feed for very young chickens. From first-hand experience I can tell you, harvesting looks a lot easier these days but the same old problems still exist, not enough rain, to many weeds, pests, prices, breakdowns, accidents, nothing changes. Biggest scare I ever got was when I was about 15 I took the tractor around to refuel from a gravity fed fuel tank and managed to snag the fuel hose and drag the tank over on its side, without damaging the tank or tractor or spilling any diesel. Miss those days. Enjoying the videos, brings back memories.

It sounds like if we're being honest, you are similar to how we are on my family farm in that we are not having some of our better days right now. I know that I practically sound like a broken record at this point but I really wish that I could share some of our rain with you. We are 5 small fields of hay left to bale that will make around 30 bales and then we are done with our first time over but we've been battling large rains and breakdowns for the last 4-5 weeks. I'm confident that we'll make it through it, though, as will you with your farm. Additionally, great job being the boss!

You should try getting a drone. You have a use for one to check on if anything is missed in the field. You can use it for lots of things like Welker’s do. They can follow you. Catherine asked what most scared me in the Air Force. I was in an ambulance with an unconcious dying passenger I had to drive 65 miles to our parent base at 2AM. As I left a corpsman said "It's all up to you.". My blood ran cold. Catherine said the sentence fit you too except you didn't have to drive as fast as I. It still depended on you. She would have skipped dinner too.. The man would have died if we were 10 minutes later. You ran the farm smoothly. It worked out. Good job.

It sounds like if we're being honest, you are similar to how we are on my family farm in that we are not having some of our better days right now. I know that I practically sound like a broken record at this point but I really wish that I could share some of our rain with you. We are 5 small fields of hay left to bale that will make around 30 bales and then we are done with our first time over but we've been battling large rains and breakdowns for the last 4-5 weeks. I'm confident that we'll make it through it, though, as will you with your farm.
Additionally, great job being the boss!

You should try getting a drone. You have a use for one to check on if anything is missed in the field. You can use it for lots of things like Welker’s do. They can follow you. Would sitting down at the start of the day and planning who does what row from what direction work for your crew? Seems a lot of "decisions on the fly" and uncertainty at times.

Catherine asked what most scared me in the Air Force. I was in an ambulance with an unconcious dying passenger I had to drive 65 miles to our parent base at 2AM. As I left a corpsman said "It's all up to you.". My blood ran cold.
Catherine said the sentence fit you too except you didn't have to drive as fast as I. It still depended on you. She would have skipped dinner too..
The man would have died if we were 10 minutes later. You ran the farm smoothly. It worked out. Good job.
