I have had tons of fun with GK, it’s a good game to kick back to, AK is more intense and serious. I enjoyed both games and recommend playing both and appreciating their differences.

You know it took a while for me to get used to playing it but once you do it's a very fun game. I feel some people don't like it because we've all gotten used to the Arkham series. I love that you literally have to be a detective in this game it really test your mind, and the fact that you get to play as somebody's other than Batman and you can switch characters anytime that you want. I love that you get to play as the bad family in the story other than playing them as a DLC like you did in the previous games.
I agree! I think the large draw for me, was that you weren't actually Batman, but the characters from the universe! Would love for more games to follow suit.
Before watching, I can easily say why. They compare it to the Arkham games as if they're Rocksteady. I remember years back people did the same to Arkham Knight. Compare it to previous game and it was unoptimized mess at launch, the batmobile, game breaking bugs, but this was apples to apples. Meaning same company, same devs. But here the game doesn't have actual breaking bugs. Just unoptimized, so released too early. I just find it odd that's all. That would be like yelling at Returnal for not being Dark Souls. GK clearly tried to do something different, never advertised it either. Nor did it have the same budget. Then people who bombed AK are praising it. I think at some point AK fell below 20% positive rating on steam and people forget it took YEARS for it to be optimized. It's w/e. Just people can't accept that Rocksteady said they were done with Batman and look at the last with rose tinted glasses.
So many people seem to forget that Arkham Knight was the Cyberpunk 2077 of it’s time. Steam delisted it ffs lol. Gotham is a flawed game but still good. Comparing an open world RPG to a linear story drive. Action game is kind of moronic and sort of invalidates most of the terrible opinions people seem to have. Most reviews compare every aspect of the game to Avengers and Arkham and it just goes to show how utterly dumb game reviewers can be. Gotham is not alone, but is just the most recent example of how people can only ever compare something to something else that looks the same. Weird.
Bruh this comment is underrated af. I didn’t have any problems with this game and have been playing it non stop since launch (currently on 3rd NG+). My problem is that people heard “30 fps” and immediately called the game trash. I’m the type of person that doesn’t just go by everyone’s word and I like to experience it myself. Most ppl don’t even get the opportunity to experience it cuz they hear everyone else shitting on it.
I'm in the camp that saw a lot of potential with the combat, but think it was presented really poorly. For example, gunners have this mechanic where if you dodge at the LAST second, they completely miss you. But if you dodge a little too early, they actually react to your dodge and you have to dodge again or get tagged by their last couple of shots. When you figure this out, it actually improves the feeling of dodging ranged attacks because it forces you to wait until the laaaaaast second, and then it can feel really great to get that true dodge that they can't react to. However, the game does NOTHING to let you know this is happening. For the first few hours of gameplay, you're going to be convinced it's just f-ing random. Sometimes they react, sometimes they don't. Only when you stop and reverse engineer what's happening do you suddenly realize how this interaction works, and can exploit it to your advantage. The combat is full of mechanics like this, and watching some streams / reviews it's clear that this is adding a ton of frustration to the experience. Exploiting resistances, perfect attacks, timed attacks. All of it can make the combat feel totally different, but the game does a terrible job communicating any of it. If you're lucky, you'll notice you were assigned some unlocked tutorials to teach you some of it. But there are entire mechanics that don't even get that much.
I think the game should have made more effort when emplaning a perfect dodge and a perfect timed attack. They also needed to make it more clear visually that you had made a perfect dodge/attack. 100% Agreed that the game just needed to explain these mechanics better. Preferably in the intro tutorial.
They shouldn't of just made evey attack square either it makes it spammy then you can miss out on the timing attack all together. It just gets repetitive too pressing two buttons to attack and dodge and that's it
They dislike Gotham Knights because a) it's not an Arkham game and b) you can't play as Batman. Which I personally think is stupid since we all knew this even before the game released. People don't handle change well, and will rush to cancel anything that's different.
Here's the problem with this, and every other regurgitated review on Gotham Knights: people DO like this game and, in xbox at least, it's probably the 3rd best game to come out in 2022 so far. Internet hacks have decided to dog pile the game for likes and views, but the majority of us normally people that play the game find it perfectly enjoyable.
Some people hate it simply cause its different and not more of the same of what they re used too and others hate it for absolutely reason other then it being 30 fps.
@@SlickGaming1 ya it's not perfect I personally would have liked a far deeper talent and skill system along with a crafting system that actually let me add the element I want onto a piece of gear. Also my xbox version did crash 3x in the 35+ so hours I played. I think it would have been really cool if since the campaign was just 2 player max that as you played the other 2 characters that wernt being played would show up in missions occasionally and help you out or ask for your help with things if they got into trouble..
It gets compared to Arkham games, and it shouldn't. But even removing that comparison, it is a game that has a lot of money thrown at it but very little soul. The story beats are good, and based on the comics, but the dialogue is so...meh. The UI is messy, the controls are clunky, the traversal skills are boring, its all so average. The bike feels so slow, the combat is super repetitive, the gadgets are minimal, the map doesn't look or feel like Gotham, and the list goes on. It's not a bad game, but for the price they ask, for the expectatives they created... it's terribly average.
First and foremost, watching this footage is completely different than my current play through since those enemy status indicators cluttering the screen were tabbed off and difficulty boosted to hard since I usually get overpowered in the slow grind. The Assassin's Creed comparison was spot on. It's not as accessible as any of the other Arkham games since your characters do not have a full compliment of their fighting skills unlocked at the beginning. This doesn't make it a bad game, since it works for some like me, while not for others. I will say that regardless of what some say about the city, I found it far more alive with pedestrians walking about and an actual traffic/subway system compared to any of the previous Arkham games. There is far more detail when going from some of the slums, industrial park, and metropolitan areas included here. What I refuse to defend in any way is the eye gauging, generic mobile service game menus that was shipped with the game. The pivot from the Avengers was apparent, but should have been stronger. Was a 5-minute font & size change too much to ask?
It's funny, because if they had just done what you said and changed the UI, they probably would have removed the idea that it feels like its a Marvel Avengers Clone. They also could removed the resources or make them collectable or more scarce, so that item crafting feels like something you have to put some thought into.
yep, people just thought this was a Arkham game its not at all its a typical rpg its like you can just coast by in play the game for sure but if you want to feel overpower you have to use all the game mechanics. this for sure is not a 10/10 but its at least a 6/10 for me it a 7/10 i have so much fun playing this game yes the frame drop sucked but being on pc i look up stuff to help since than 60-100 fps on the highest setting and sometime drops to 40. i think once this game get fixed and all the dlc people will realized how much fun this game can be.

You are right about this game and what you said about it being a ubi/ AC game and I still bought it just to make content and going through the game there were small moments I was like wow that was cool and it was most the bat family interacting with each other. I feel like this game will get more shine in the later yrs like how the popularity for Metal Gear revengeance just sky rocketed the game into the limelight again but I do hope for dlc or a sequel I feel like they had something here just need to push it more also the side boss were pretty dope.
I personally love the game so far. It's different for what it is, but it's something nice to tune out to and play, while at the same time, solving clues and doing some detective work. I also really enjoy switching between characters
for me, it honestly just feels like theres a lack of polish. The buildings seem flat, the streets have no debris and seem empty. Theres districts, but they all seem the same at the same time. Was really disappointed in this. The gameplay is fun, but for 30fps on console, and a so-so story, I was kind of upset with how it ended up landing. It 100% feels like a previous gen game.
I 100% agree. It feels like another title that probably could have done with another year in development or even more to get everything right and add a little more.

30fps is a constant cry. I haven’t experienced any drop in framrate and it always looks beautiful. This framrate talk sounds like a bunch of entitlement and you just need to move on instead of crying about it. Combat everything is in the game, do the tutorial, if you’re unsure about timing do that tutorial over. Everything requires practice and timing. If you think you’re just spamming buttons you’re not using your other abilities enough. You don’t need to know the name of the crafting materials. Just play the game and the mats will come. Yellow ones are most important easy. If you need a system to hold your hand because gear has elements and enemies have elemental weaknesses. Go sit in the corner. It’s not hard to read a profile and equip gear that goes around the enemies resistances or damages them. Crying over a game that has farming which was told. Fighting the same enemies… what do you expect it’s not a mmo. Too many people are spoiled and cry over spilled milk. Not the bad milk the good milk straight from the source. Play on hard, play with all the characters, master your choice character. Give me a real reason why this is bad because this has been the smoothest game that’s released in awhile as I have put well over 60+ hours and find myself going back having to pull myself away to play something else. But hey I’m just looking to have fun all this fps bs and comparing it to other games is just childish.
Of course!! Its hard to folow up a game that is sop loved. But the truth is, its a different team and its not even set in the same "story" as the original games
Also, even tho I enjoyed origins. Look at how rough around the edges that game was from a presentation standpoint . The snow looked very dry and flat and clipped through a lot of things, costumes had very flat textures. And that was a game that used 90% of its assets from prior Arkham games.
I like your format it's a little refreshing.. anyone can have their own opinion about a game or anything for that matter.. but I find that the people who are put subjectively to the forefront..and not letting your own biases take over, are the best people to listen to.. doesn't get any more real than this
I think it was definitely originally designed as a GAAS but they saw how Avengers bombed and tried to pivot. I think the studio has a good base to expand on depending on how they patch it and how well the raid is designed. I think the characters are written well and the boss fight complaints boil down to people either being bad at the game or bringing Cryo weapons to fight Mr. Freeze. Making it 4K Native and Raytracing was a poor decision. I turned off Raytracing on PC and it's been a pretty smooth experience bar some hitching here and there in open world traversal. It's definitely a lot smoother than launch Elden Ring was on PC.
I think this game is good for Casual and playing with a friend. Im just not happy with the random Crashes, and a random frame rate drop. Man alot of games I really want to play optimizing seems to be alot of Game company problems.
I tried to like Gotham nights, I really did, I ignored all the reviews and avoided everything online while I was playing it, I turned it off after the first 2 hours, I went back to it determined to like it, after a week of playing it I realized the combat is atrocious and simplified, the entire game is watered down and has no depth, then it hit me, it's a mobile game masquerading as a AAA game, the writing is almost as bad as the combat, I remember at one point I was using the interrogation mechanic while two other thugs were just standing there with guns watching me do it
I personally think the combat is great, there is a level of depth, but the issue is the game doesn't teach the player the importance of it. i do agree that the games activities and other elements lack a lot of depth. But I wouldn't call this a mobile game ... 😂
Besides the AI being dumb allowing you to silent takedown someone with another guy standing next to them and the fact that Robin is a master of stealth in a bright green red and yellow costume aside, my only real complaints about the game are instead of just a skill tree I wish there was an opportunity to unlock different gadgets and weapons which have their own moves and combos because mashing square and dodging with circle does become repetitive. There could easily be jump and ducking attacks, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to parry and block attacks from basic villains and only have to dodge the big powerful ones. The other complaint is I wish there was an actual incentive to use each character rather than just picking a favorite. Maybe each main mission could tell u which skills would be needed more than others like saying you'll need to stay under the radar hinting Robin is the better choice or making each mission specific to 1 or 2 characters specialties making u need to use them. I just feel like why put 4 playable characters in the game and not give me a reason to use them all.
The AI being dumb is a tough one. A lot of modern games have literally the same stealth systems of taking down an enemy, right next to another enemy. You could always change Robins outfit 😂 I do agree that there should be some sort of scouting or even intel gathering phase before missions, so you can decide which character you want to play as for the mission. It would probably incentive players trying out different characters and diversifying playstyles, Helping the game to remain fresher for longer.
@Slick Gaming Lol the dumb AI and Robin's suit were meant to be tongue in cheek complaints, not serious ones lol. The incentive thing and the fighting are my 2 real complaints. I agree though a lot of games have similar issues. Even God of War, a game I've loved since the first one came out for PS2, has an issue of repetitive combat in my opinion. If it weren't for the different weapons it would be almost unbearable but even still at its core, as much as I love it, its still mashing 2 buttons and dodging/blocking. I know that with games like these its more about the story/journey and the puzzles rather than the fighting whereas a game like Mortal Kombat is the exact opposite with the fighting being the focal point. I just wish there were more games that were closer to the middle.
I think people forgot how awful the batmobile was, especially in comparison to the batcycle. I think a big strong suit of this game is the way you traverse the world in the sense that you are running from rooftop to rooftop or powersliding around corners with the batcycle while your Cape flows in the wind. It makes for a much more batman feeling game apposed to arkham knight where the open world clearly wasn't designed enough around the batmobile due to the incredibly narrow design of gotham. Not to mention the god awful controls, none of that really matters though because it's made instantly obsolete because you can essentially fly as batman, killing the feeling of being batman, stalking your prey from the skylines of gotham. It's one of the things I think gotham knights does 10x better than any arkham game.
I agree in the sense that the boatmobile wasn't the greatest. But Arkham's strengths came from Batman's wing glide. It was much faster and often a great way to move around the world. At least compared to Batgirls Glide in Gotham Knights.
@@SlickGaming1 in a sense I agree, the glide itself was alot more fluid than in gotham knights, the issue I had with it was the grapple boost, it kinda just removed the need to use the skyline at all because you could just fly everywhere. I think theres a really good In-between that gotham knights can get with a few tweaks to batgirl.
@@SlickGaming1 Hyper fantasised is a part of DC's charm Gotham looks like a mix of London and New York with towering skyscrapers and blips with noir elements with a touch of Neon. Gotham knights' Gotham is generic. artistic choice or not. Suicide squad kill the justice league is on the way and looking at Metropolis in the trailer it's architecture gorgeous it's like a a 40s view of the the future a utopia if will with the gold and clean look and vintage taxis in the streets like in superman the animated series.
@@SlickGaming1 it's something I noticed when I played arkham city back when it released. And I couldn't unsee it afterwards especially the subway platform it's reminiscent of the one from London at least as presented in movies like the Harry Potter series. And the clock tower in knight reminded me of Victoria tower or Big Ben. The lady of Gotham statue definitely reminded me of the lady of liberty statue in New York. Then the gargoyles just add to that atmosphere.
If they just have left the combat from previous Arkham games and add all those special moves into it, it would have been perfect and better frame rate.
I agree that it would have been amazing to have the old combat in the latest gam , plus the abilities. But I think they wanted to distance themselves from the older games, so they don't want to copy the game to much.
Totally disagree. We had four games with that combat. Time to move on. This is an RPG not an action adventure game. It is centered around creating builds. I think that feature is consistently over looked.
I keep hearing comparisons with batman arkham games. People need to stop doing that when talking about this game. Sure this game needs work but man, I'm proud this game did something different. And let's be honest, I do love the arkham games but they also had issues that I'm afraid to say that no one is really wanting to admit. This game has Movement issues, arkham was no different. As someone who’s played plenty of RPGs but no live service games, I don’t understand what is live service-y about it? I’ve yet to come across something that doesn’t seem like typical RPG affair?
The reason people are comparing this to a live service, is mainly the random resources and layout of the inventory when compared to Marvel Avengers. It looks like it was going to be a direct competitor , until they decided to change the game.

My game crashes every time I try to fast travel, there is a screen tear that is constantly appearing on my screen even when I’m just running around the tower, and the world is just kind of bland. There are other issues but this game could’ve been way better.
A lot of my footage is from early on, before I had figured out the elemental effects typing and proper way to utilise the combat, but even still most enemies will be a couple of levels above your character, meaning it does become a little bit of a grind when doing open world activities.

This is a brave statement! I would have to disagree with you. I think Nintendo are stuck in a limbo of the same IPs, same games on an outdated "console". But in saying that there are plenty of other game developers that make games that are not innovative at all.

Word of mouth. Once it takes hold a game is mediocre to bad, people just disregard it. Plus the reality is that the developers of this game handled this game pretty badly. Also the PR on it was a disaster.
It's not made by the same developers, or set in the same world/narrative as the Arkham games, but it is a bat game, so I understand the need for the comparison.
I miss the old Arkham games never played this one looks alright but something's off about it dunno if I should try it maybe wait for a black Friday steam sale or something

I don't think it gets a free pass at all. Every review I see says the same thing. Repetitive can be okay, but it has to feel good while you're doing it. And Spiderman is brought up constantly as an example of that.

How many legitimately good super hero games have even come out in the last 10 years? Arkham Knight was absolutely busted on PC at launch but all these reviews comparing it conveniently forget that. It was so busted at launch I got a refund from a digital key seller after redeeming my key and that NEVER happens. If we're really getting down to it, Spiderman did nothing we haven't already seen in Arkham City but high review scores all around while GK gets knocked for "not doing anything new." That Playstation exclusive review armor is too strong these days.

There are a few different types of haters. I will list them below. BATMAN FANBOYS: Won’t give it a chance because it’s not about Batman. ROCKSTEADY FANBOYS: Pissed that any property other than Rocksteady touch the Batman IP. THE TRENDERS: Hate or love whatever IGN tells them to. THE UNIFORMED: People who gave the game a chance without understanding how non button mashing/RPGs work and think that the combat is bad when in fact they’re just bad at the game. THE UNREALISTIC PEOPLE: 30 fps was a game breaker for them because they think that 60 fps is an industry standard of next Gen when in fact MANY up coming ps5 games will be capped at 30. Mark my words. GRAPHICS vs ART STYLE: Gotham Knights DOES have better graphics than Arkham Knight. The thing that throws people off is the art style. Textures and motion are vastly superior to Arkham. It’s just that Arkham was photo realistic and Gotham Knights is comic book based. Anyway. The game is amazing.
Because Arkham Knight is like 7 years older and looks and feels like a step backwards. And theres no Batman and the Batman there is doesnt make sense or feel like Batman. Super disappointing
@@SlickGaming1 i didnt expect it to be the same game. But considering 7 years to take what was good and build on that in whatever direction they went its on the fail side. Graphically not that big of a leap and is some cases a regression. Gameplay wise Arkham combat is smother and more satifying. Adding grind to a game, i just dont get it. Subjectively i hated the main story but the side missions were much better.
Didn't even watch the video but the main 2 reasons are people assume it plays like the Arkham games, and it doesn't so it's automatically a trash game to them, and last one is they can't play as Batman, automatic shit game. There ya go.
It's really disappointing I was excited about this game all year. I know some people say it's no problem playing at 30fps, but I feel like it makes my eyes bleed. I'm really disappointed at devs in general their not making full use of the series x dev kit

I for one really enjoyed marvel avengers. My big issue with that game was the fact there was no cop-op working for ages after launch and the end game was pretty much non existent (talking first few months after the games release)

The only reason I was going to pay for a ps5 and play this game was for the co op and story with my brother. I always knew they would have updates and dlc's because games now come out unfinished and worked on over time. I currently played overwatch since day one a d seen how that has changed over the years.
Game looks visually worse than Arkham knight, people like using super moves from flowing a combo chain based on skill rather than a slow meter, and enemies weren’t sponges, stealth and movement are dull too, it’s a decent super hero game but it’s worse than Arkham knights like 7 years ago
It’s a great game. Just like everything these days “well it’s not what I wanted, so it sucks”. Shut up! Fun gameplay, great characters, open world fun cases missions and side quests. Plus, it’s in the Batman world. What’s not to love!

I mean Fortnite is just running around shooting people match after match... One of the most lucrative games around... Madden is just toss the ball and score... It might be because I spammed it to move as fast as possible, so sometimes it snapped onto things I didn't want it to. At least it was consistent for one of us 😅😂
The game is literally going to have four player coop raid mode lol they created a great single player and is going to release the live service end game stuff at the end of the month which is a great choice because avengers single player mode felt like a add on because it released with the live service stuff to begin with
Without comparing this to the Arkham games I still don't like it. It just feels hollow and like a cash grab or that it's missing it's soul or something. They made the combat suck and they made the stealth suck. Both very important in a Batman game. Shit even the fact that the batcycle dousnt have vibrations when your driving it shows you how little they cared in my eyes. They did some things good but that doesn't make it a good game. All together it's not worth the 70 I paid for it. Makes me mad when I think about it a litlle
I think the bat cycle tweak you mentioned, sums up the game. They got the overall idea right, they just lacked small details here and there that as a collective make a great game. There not necessarily game features you think about, but ultimately contribute to a game being great.

This is a god damn mobile game dressed as an actual game. From the UI to the loot to the comical animations in combat to the standard story and the incredibly grindy nature of the game. I'll play it when it comes to a deep deep discount, which will probably be very soon
I disagree with a lot of things. The city view is nice for a big crime city. I even made a pic my background. The grappling hook I like because I believe it’s more realistic. If your going through the city the bat motorcycle you def bob and weaving. I don’t like that it’s slow tho. The combat system is clutch because it’s like Arkham but also different. I like it teaches you how to time your button smashing. Most games you do repetitive things but it’s clear here you doing it because yea your fighting crime every night. I believe it’s more than a average game. And doing the co op is so much fun. But I believe your video was kinda Knick picking. I don’t like this I don’t like this. It’s actually a good game as you continue to go on. Just do everything to upgrade fast
My issue isn't really with how realistic the grapple is, more how fidgety it is to use. I agree that when riding the bat bike you have to weave through traffic, but your never really using the slide mechanic, which is the fun part about using the bike.
I dont play this game because it soooooo bad optimized for pc. I have a 3070ti and its a struggle just to reach 60 stable fps, plus the bugs, its just not a finished game, Sorry cyberknights but this is just as bad as Cyberpunk release date....
I've no PC to play on, I played cyberpunk on ps4 at release. It was awful, but I bit my lip and played it anyway. It's great on ps5. Gotham knights on console, is very much more doable then cyberpunk was
How do I know ur lying, 70+ frames pre patch Gotham knights, 2080ti and i9-9900k, my pc is above $4k including both monitors and post patch it’s running from 100-120 frames
This game is amazing! What went wrong were the trash reviewers that did not play the game. I have been playing gn non stop. Please stop comparing it to Arkham! It's a different story and a different comic book. The combat is way better and lock on target? Why? Those drone masters will kick beat that ass! Too much flying at you to lock on one target when you actually get far in the game.

The people who like the game are playing it, so I guess it makes sense to pander to the haters. Feels like AC? I'm sorry but I didn't see a Time Savers tab anywhere, nor felt the grind was so unbearable that it needed one.

I have had tons of fun with GK, it’s a good game to kick back to, AK is more intense and serious. I enjoyed both games and recommend playing both and appreciating their differences.

Combat gets ALOT easier once you learn the elemental weaknesses of enemies. Makes a huge difference.

You know it took a while for me to get used to playing it but once you do it's a very fun game. I feel some people don't like it because we've all gotten used to the Arkham series. I love that you literally have to be a detective in this game it really test your mind, and the fact that you get to play as somebody's other than Batman and you can switch characters anytime that you want. I love that you get to play as the bad family in the story other than playing them as a DLC like you did in the previous games.
I agree! I think the large draw for me, was that you weren't actually Batman, but the characters from the universe! Would love for more games to follow suit.
Before watching, I can easily say why. They compare it to the Arkham games as if they're Rocksteady. I remember years back people did the same to Arkham Knight. Compare it to previous game and it was unoptimized mess at launch, the batmobile, game breaking bugs, but this was apples to apples. Meaning same company, same devs. But here the game doesn't have actual breaking bugs. Just unoptimized, so released too early. I just find it odd that's all. That would be like yelling at Returnal for not being Dark Souls. GK clearly tried to do something different, never advertised it either. Nor did it have the same budget. Then people who bombed AK are praising it. I think at some point AK fell below 20% positive rating on steam and people forget it took YEARS for it to be optimized. It's w/e. Just people can't accept that Rocksteady said they were done with Batman and look at the last with rose tinted glasses.
Agreed. I think its just a matter of cleaning up the rough patches and the game will be a lot more adored than it currently is.
So many people seem to forget that Arkham Knight was the Cyberpunk 2077 of it’s time. Steam delisted it ffs lol. Gotham is a flawed game but still good. Comparing an open world RPG to a linear story drive. Action game is kind of moronic and sort of invalidates most of the terrible opinions people seem to have.
Most reviews compare every aspect of the game to Avengers and Arkham and it just goes to show how utterly dumb game reviewers can be. Gotham is not alone, but is just the most recent example of how people can only ever compare something to something else that looks the same.

Bruh this comment is underrated af. I didn’t have any problems with this game and have been playing it non stop since launch (currently on 3rd NG+). My problem is that people heard “30 fps” and immediately called the game trash. I’m the type of person that doesn’t just go by everyone’s word and I like to experience it myself. Most ppl don’t even get the opportunity to experience it cuz they hear everyone else shitting on it.

I'm in the camp that saw a lot of potential with the combat, but think it was presented really poorly.
For example, gunners have this mechanic where if you dodge at the LAST second, they completely miss you. But if you dodge a little too early, they actually react to your dodge and you have to dodge again or get tagged by their last couple of shots. When you figure this out, it actually improves the feeling of dodging ranged attacks because it forces you to wait until the laaaaaast second, and then it can feel really great to get that true dodge that they can't react to.
However, the game does NOTHING to let you know this is happening. For the first few hours of gameplay, you're going to be convinced it's just f-ing random. Sometimes they react, sometimes they don't. Only when you stop and reverse engineer what's happening do you suddenly realize how this interaction works, and can exploit it to your advantage.
The combat is full of mechanics like this, and watching some streams / reviews it's clear that this is adding a ton of frustration to the experience. Exploiting resistances, perfect attacks, timed attacks. All of it can make the combat feel totally different, but the game does a terrible job communicating any of it. If you're lucky, you'll notice you were assigned some unlocked tutorials to teach you some of it. But there are entire mechanics that don't even get that much.
I think the game should have made more effort when emplaning a perfect dodge and a perfect timed attack. They also needed to make it more clear visually that you had made a perfect dodge/attack.
100% Agreed that the game just needed to explain these mechanics better. Preferably in the intro tutorial.
They shouldn't of just made evey attack square either it makes it spammy then you can miss out on the timing attack all together. It just gets repetitive too pressing two buttons to attack and dodge and that's it
They dislike Gotham Knights because a) it's not an Arkham game and b) you can't play as Batman. Which I personally think is stupid since we all knew this even before the game released. People don't handle change well, and will rush to cancel anything that's different.

Here's the problem with this, and every other regurgitated review on Gotham Knights: people DO like this game and, in xbox at least, it's probably the 3rd best game to come out in 2022 so far.
Internet hacks have decided to dog pile the game for likes and views, but the majority of us normally people that play the game find it perfectly enjoyable.
Some people hate it simply cause its different and not more of the same of what they re used too and others hate it for absolutely reason other then it being 30 fps.
I agree that a lot of the hate isn't really justified. But at the same time this game could be a fair bit better.
@@SlickGaming1 ya it's not perfect I personally would have liked a far deeper talent and skill system along with a crafting system that actually let me add the element I want onto a piece of gear. Also my xbox version did crash 3x in the 35+ so hours I played. I think it would have been really cool if since the campaign was just 2 player max that as you played the other 2 characters that wernt being played would show up in missions occasionally and help you out or ask for your help with things if they got into trouble..
It gets compared to Arkham games, and it shouldn't. But even removing that comparison, it is a game that has a lot of money thrown at it but very little soul. The story beats are good, and based on the comics, but the dialogue is so...meh. The UI is messy, the controls are clunky, the traversal skills are boring, its all so average. The bike feels so slow, the combat is super repetitive, the gadgets are minimal, the map doesn't look or feel like Gotham, and the list goes on. It's not a bad game, but for the price they ask, for the expectatives they created... it's terribly average.

First and foremost, watching this footage is completely different than my current play through since those enemy status indicators cluttering the screen were tabbed off and difficulty boosted to hard since I usually get overpowered in the slow grind. The Assassin's Creed comparison was spot on. It's not as accessible as any of the other Arkham games since your characters do not have a full compliment of their fighting skills unlocked at the beginning. This doesn't make it a bad game, since it works for some like me, while not for others. I will say that regardless of what some say about the city, I found it far more alive with pedestrians walking about and an actual traffic/subway system compared to any of the previous Arkham games. There is far more detail when going from some of the slums, industrial park, and metropolitan areas included here. What I refuse to defend in any way is the eye gauging, generic mobile service game menus that was shipped with the game. The pivot from the Avengers was apparent, but should have been stronger. Was a 5-minute font & size change too much to ask?
I liked the city in GK more than AK too.
It's funny, because if they had just done what you said and changed the UI, they probably would have removed the idea that it feels like its a Marvel Avengers Clone. They also could removed the resources or make them collectable or more scarce, so that item crafting feels like something you have to put some thought into.
On the map check the factions weakness to help with tank enemies! That really helped me each of them are weak to certain elemental damage!
That's a great tip! I actually figure it out eventually that there are good elemental typing's for different enemies haha
yep, people just thought this was a Arkham game its not at all its a typical rpg its like you can just coast by in play the game for sure but if you want to feel overpower you have to use all the game mechanics. this for sure is not a 10/10 but its at least a 6/10 for me it a 7/10 i have so much fun playing this game yes the frame drop sucked but being on pc i look up stuff to help since than 60-100 fps on the highest setting and sometime drops to 40. i think once this game get fixed and all the dlc people will realized how much fun this game can be.

You are right about this game and what you said about it being a ubi/ AC game and I still bought it just to make content and going through the game there were small moments I was like wow that was cool and it was most the bat family interacting with each other. I feel like this game will get more shine in the later yrs like how the popularity for Metal Gear revengeance just sky rocketed the game into the limelight again but I do hope for dlc or a sequel I feel like they had something here just need to push it more also the side boss were pretty dope.

I personally love the game so far. It's different for what it is, but it's something nice to tune out to and play, while at the same time, solving clues and doing some detective work. I also really enjoy switching between characters
I think thats the best feature of the game. being able to play as any of the Bat crew, is a really nice touch!
for me, it honestly just feels like theres a lack of polish. The buildings seem flat, the streets have no debris and seem empty. Theres districts, but they all seem the same at the same time. Was really disappointed in this. The gameplay is fun, but for 30fps on console, and a so-so story, I was kind of upset with how it ended up landing. It 100% feels like a previous gen game.
I 100% agree. It feels like another title that probably could have done with another year in development or even more to get everything right and add a little more.

30fps is a constant cry. I haven’t experienced any drop in framrate and it always looks beautiful. This framrate talk sounds like a bunch of entitlement and you just need to move on instead of crying about it.
Combat everything is in the game, do the tutorial, if you’re unsure about timing do that tutorial over. Everything requires practice and timing. If you think you’re just spamming buttons you’re not using your other abilities enough.
You don’t need to know the name of the crafting materials. Just play the game and the mats will come. Yellow ones are most important easy.
If you need a system to hold your hand because gear has elements and enemies have elemental weaknesses. Go sit in the corner. It’s not hard to read a profile and equip gear that goes around the enemies resistances or damages them.
Crying over a game that has farming which was told. Fighting the same enemies… what do you expect it’s not a mmo.
Too many people are spoiled and cry over spilled milk. Not the bad milk the good milk straight from the source. Play on hard, play with all the characters, master your choice character. Give me a real reason why this is bad because this has been the smoothest game that’s released in awhile as I have put well over 60+ hours and find myself going back having to pull myself away to play something else. But hey I’m just looking to have fun all this fps bs and comparing it to other games is just childish.

Also, even tho I enjoyed origins. Look at how rough around the edges that game was from a presentation standpoint . The snow looked very dry and flat and clipped through a lot of things, costumes had very flat textures. And that was a game that used 90% of its assets from prior Arkham games.

I think it was definitely originally designed as a GAAS but they saw how Avengers bombed and tried to pivot. I think the studio has a good base to expand on depending on how they patch it and how well the raid is designed. I think the characters are written well and the boss fight complaints boil down to people either being bad at the game or bringing Cryo weapons to fight Mr. Freeze.
Making it 4K Native and Raytracing was a poor decision. I turned off Raytracing on PC and it's been a pretty smooth experience bar some hitching here and there in open world traversal. It's definitely a lot smoother than launch Elden Ring was on PC.
I hope that the raid is really good. All the boss fights were amazing in my opinion.
I think this game is good for Casual and playing with a friend. Im just not happy with the random Crashes, and a random frame rate drop. Man alot of games I really want to play optimizing seems to be alot of Game company problems.
Its a huge issue these days, so many games would be a lot more enjoyable and approachable if they were just a bit more optimised. I feel your pain 😭
I tried to like Gotham nights, I really did, I ignored all the reviews and avoided everything online while I was playing it, I turned it off after the first 2 hours, I went back to it determined to like it, after a week of playing it I realized the combat is atrocious and simplified, the entire game is watered down and has no depth, then it hit me, it's a mobile game masquerading as a AAA game, the writing is almost as bad as the combat, I remember at one point I was using the interrogation mechanic while two other thugs were just standing there with guns watching me do it
I personally think the combat is great, there is a level of depth, but the issue is the game doesn't teach the player the importance of it. i do agree that the games activities and other elements lack a lot of depth. But I wouldn't call this a mobile game ... 😂

Besides the AI being dumb allowing you to silent takedown someone with another guy standing next to them and the fact that Robin is a master of stealth in a bright green red and yellow costume aside, my only real complaints about the game are instead of just a skill tree I wish there was an opportunity to unlock different gadgets and weapons which have their own moves and combos because mashing square and dodging with circle does become repetitive. There could easily be jump and ducking attacks, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to parry and block attacks from basic villains and only have to dodge the big powerful ones. The other complaint is I wish there was an actual incentive to use each character rather than just picking a favorite. Maybe each main mission could tell u which skills would be needed more than others like saying you'll need to stay under the radar hinting Robin is the better choice or making each mission specific to 1 or 2 characters specialties making u need to use them. I just feel like why put 4 playable characters in the game and not give me a reason to use them all.
The AI being dumb is a tough one. A lot of modern games have literally the same stealth systems of taking down an enemy, right next to another enemy. You could always change Robins outfit 😂 I do agree that there should be some sort of scouting or even intel gathering phase before missions, so you can decide which character you want to play as for the mission. It would probably incentive players trying out different characters and diversifying playstyles, Helping the game to remain fresher for longer.
@Slick Gaming Lol the dumb AI and Robin's suit were meant to be tongue in cheek complaints, not serious ones lol. The incentive thing and the fighting are my 2 real complaints. I agree though a lot of games have similar issues. Even God of War, a game I've loved since the first one came out for PS2, has an issue of repetitive combat in my opinion. If it weren't for the different weapons it would be almost unbearable but even still at its core, as much as I love it, its still mashing 2 buttons and dodging/blocking. I know that with games like these its more about the story/journey and the puzzles rather than the fighting whereas a game like Mortal Kombat is the exact opposite with the fighting being the focal point. I just wish there were more games that were closer to the middle.
I think people forgot how awful the batmobile was, especially in comparison to the batcycle.
I think a big strong suit of this game is the way you traverse the world in the sense that you are running from rooftop to rooftop or powersliding around corners with the batcycle while your Cape flows in the wind.
It makes for a much more batman feeling game apposed to arkham knight where the open world clearly wasn't designed enough around the batmobile due to the incredibly narrow design of gotham. Not to mention the god awful controls, none of that really matters though because it's made instantly obsolete because you can essentially fly as batman, killing the feeling of being batman, stalking your prey from the skylines of gotham. It's one of the things I think gotham knights does 10x better than any arkham game.
I agree in the sense that the boatmobile wasn't the greatest. But Arkham's strengths came from Batman's wing glide. It was much faster and often a great way to move around the world. At least compared to Batgirls Glide in Gotham Knights.
@@SlickGaming1 in a sense I agree, the glide itself was alot more fluid than in gotham knights, the issue I had with it was the grapple boost, it kinda just removed the need to use the skyline at all because you could just fly everywhere. I think theres a really good In-between that gotham knights can get with a few tweaks to batgirl.

Suicide squad kill the justice league is on the way and looking at Metropolis in the trailer it's architecture gorgeous it's like a a 40s view of the the future a utopia if will with the gold and clean look and vintage taxis in the streets like in superman the animated series.

@@SlickGaming1 it's something I noticed when I played arkham city back when it released. And I couldn't unsee it afterwards especially the subway platform it's reminiscent of the one from London at least as presented in movies like the Harry Potter series. And the clock tower in knight reminded me of Victoria tower or Big Ben. The lady of Gotham statue definitely reminded me of the lady of liberty statue in New York. Then the gargoyles just add to that atmosphere.
If they just have left the combat from previous Arkham games and add all those special moves into it, it would have been perfect and better frame rate.
I agree that it would have been amazing to have the old combat in the latest gam , plus the abilities. But I think they wanted to distance themselves from the older games, so they don't want to copy the game to much.
Totally disagree. We had four games with that combat. Time to move on. This is an RPG not an action adventure game. It is centered around creating builds. I think that feature is consistently over looked.

And let's be honest, I do love the arkham games but they also had issues that I'm afraid to say that no one is really wanting to admit. This game has Movement issues, arkham was no different. If any of you forgotten Batman couldn't scale everything like like the 4 characters here in gotham knights couldn't do

As someone who’s played plenty of RPGs but no live service games, I don’t understand what is live service-y about it? I’ve yet to come across something that doesn’t seem like typical RPG affair?
The reason people are comparing this to a live service, is mainly the random resources and layout of the inventory when compared to Marvel Avengers. It looks like it was going to be a direct competitor , until they decided to change the game.

My game crashes every time I try to fast travel, there is a screen tear that is constantly appearing on my screen even when I’m just running around the tower, and the world is just kind of bland. There are other issues but this game could’ve been way better.
Yeh I think the game could have done with some more time in development, to make it run smoother and just make the world a bit more interesting
The criminals look like damage sponges
A lot of my footage is from early on, before I had figured out the elemental effects typing and proper way to utilise the combat, but even still most enemies will be a couple of levels above your character, meaning it does become a little bit of a grind when doing open world activities.

This is a brave statement! I would have to disagree with you. I think Nintendo are stuck in a limbo of the same IPs, same games on an outdated "console". But in saying that there are plenty of other game developers that make games that are not innovative at all.

I think people don't like like rpg which is what gotham knights is everything that this game dose is pretty much what a rpg dose which a lot of people don't realize
I agree to a certain extent. Because there are RPGs out there that are better for various reasons. But this is still a solid title.

Word of mouth. Once it takes hold a game is mediocre to bad, people just disregard it. Plus the reality is that the developers of this game handled this game pretty badly. Also the PR on it was a disaster.

This game can’t avoid the Arkham comparison. For me if the combat doesn’t match Arkham games speed and impact then it’s not for me.
It's not made by the same developers, or set in the same world/narrative as the Arkham games, but it is a bat game, so I understand the need for the comparison.
They did make Batman Arkham Origins though so they’re not foreign to the combat flow of the Arkham series.
I miss the old Arkham games never played this one looks alright but something's off about it dunno if I should try it maybe wait for a black Friday steam sale or something

I don't think it gets a free pass at all. Every review I see says the same thing. Repetitive can be okay, but it has to feel good while you're doing it. And Spiderman is brought up constantly as an example of that.

How many legitimately good super hero games have even come out in the last 10 years? Arkham Knight was absolutely busted on PC at launch but all these reviews comparing it conveniently forget that. It was so busted at launch I got a refund from a digital key seller after redeeming my key and that NEVER happens. If we're really getting down to it, Spiderman did nothing we haven't already seen in Arkham City but high review scores all around while GK gets knocked for "not doing anything new." That Playstation exclusive review armor is too strong these days.

I don't like the camera angles. And the combat system. But the game is fun to play .
It would be nice if the camera angles zoomed out a little more when fighting.

Pissed that any property other than Rocksteady touch the Batman IP.

THE UNIFORMED:
People who gave the game a chance without understanding how non button mashing/RPGs work and think that the combat is bad when in fact they’re just bad at the game.
THE UNREALISTIC PEOPLE:
30 fps was a game breaker for them because they think that 60 fps is an industry standard of next Gen when in fact MANY up coming ps5 games will be capped at 30. Mark my words.
GRAPHICS vs ART STYLE:
Gotham Knights DOES have better graphics than Arkham Knight. The thing that throws people off is the art style. Textures and motion are vastly superior to Arkham. It’s just that Arkham was photo realistic and Gotham Knights is comic book based.
Anyway. The game is amazing.

@@SlickGaming1 i didnt expect it to be the same game. But considering 7 years to take what was good and build on that in whatever direction they went its on the fail side. Graphically not that big of a leap and is some cases a regression. Gameplay wise Arkham combat is smother and more satifying. Adding grind to a game, i just dont get it. Subjectively i hated the main story but the side missions were much better.
Didn't even watch the video but the main 2 reasons are people assume it plays like the Arkham games, and it doesn't so it's automatically a trash game to them, and last one is they can't play as Batman, automatic shit game. There ya go.

It's really disappointing I was excited about this game all year. I know some people say it's no problem playing at 30fps, but I feel like it makes my eyes bleed. I'm really disappointed at devs in general their not making full use of the series x dev kit
That's understandable. I'm sure if its gets a couple more patches the game will run smoothly and you wont be able to notice the 30fps.

I for one really enjoyed marvel avengers. My big issue with that game was the fact there was no cop-op working for ages after launch and the end game was pretty much non existent (talking first few months after the games release)

The only reason I was going to pay for a ps5 and play this game was for the co op and story with my brother. I always knew they would have updates and dlc's because games now come out unfinished and worked on over time. I currently played overwatch since day one a d seen how that has changed over the years.
Game looks visually worse than Arkham knight, people like using super moves from flowing a combo chain based on skill rather than a slow meter, and enemies weren’t sponges, stealth and movement are dull too, it’s a decent super hero game but it’s worse than Arkham knights like 7 years ago
I agree that it isn't as good as the Arkham games, but i think it does enough to be a solid title on its own.
It’s a great game. Just like everything these days “well it’s not what I wanted, so it sucks”. Shut up! Fun gameplay, great characters, open world fun cases missions and side quests. Plus, it’s in the Batman world. What’s not to love!

I think the fact that Fornite is a pvp game, it kind of changes the repetitive nature. But it all depends on how broadly you define repetitive.

It might be because I spammed it to move as fast as possible, so sometimes it snapped onto things I didn't want it to. At least it was consistent for one of us 😅😂
The game is literally going to have four player coop raid mode lol they created a great single player and is going to release the live service end game stuff at the end of the month which is a great choice because avengers single player mode felt like a add on because it released with the live service stuff to begin with

Without comparing this to the Arkham games I still don't like it. It just feels hollow and like a cash grab or that it's missing it's soul or something. They made the combat suck and they made the stealth suck. Both very important in a Batman game. Shit even the fact that the batcycle dousnt have vibrations when your driving it shows you how little they cared in my eyes. They did some things good but that doesn't make it a good game. All together it's not worth the 70 I paid for it. Makes me mad when I think about it a litlle
I think the bat cycle tweak you mentioned, sums up the game. They got the overall idea right, they just lacked small details here and there that as a collective make a great game. There not necessarily game features you think about, but ultimately contribute to a game being great.

This is a god damn mobile game dressed as an actual game. From the UI to the loot to the comical animations in combat to the standard story and the incredibly grindy nature of the game. I'll play it when it comes to a deep deep discount, which will probably be very soon

I disagree with a lot of things. The city view is nice for a big crime city. I even made a pic my background. The grappling hook I like because I believe it’s more realistic. If your going through the city the bat motorcycle you def bob and weaving. I don’t like that it’s slow tho. The combat system is clutch because it’s like Arkham but also different. I like it teaches you how to time your button smashing. Most games you do repetitive things but it’s clear here you doing it because yea your fighting crime every night. I believe it’s more than a average game. And doing the co op is so much fun. But I believe your video was kinda Knick picking. I don’t like this I don’t like this. It’s actually a good game as you continue to go on. Just do everything to upgrade fast
My issue isn't really with how realistic the grapple is, more how fidgety it is to use. I agree that when riding the bat bike you have to weave through traffic, but your never really using the slide mechanic, which is the fun part about using the bike.
That frame rate, well lack their of 🤮🤮🤮

I dont play this game because it soooooo bad optimized for pc. I have a 3070ti and its a struggle just to reach 60 stable fps, plus the bugs, its just not a finished game, Sorry cyberknights but this is just as bad as Cyberpunk release date....
I've no PC to play on, I played cyberpunk on ps4 at release. It was awful, but I bit my lip and played it anyway. It's great on ps5. Gotham knights on console, is very much more doable then cyberpunk was
How do I know ur lying, 70+ frames pre patch Gotham knights, 2080ti and i9-9900k, my pc is above $4k including both monitors and post patch it’s running from 100-120 frames
I think the game is poorly optimized. But with more patches it should be a lot smoother.

This game is amazing! What went wrong were the trash reviewers that did not play the game. I have been playing gn non stop. Please stop comparing it to Arkham! It's a different story and a different comic book. The combat is way better and lock on target? Why? Those drone masters will kick beat that ass! Too much flying at you to lock on one target when you actually get far in the game.
I think the game has a great foundation, that needs a little more fine tuning. But in saying that, I agree with you, its a solid game

Xbox games as a whole have been very disappointing the last year or more. Yes, there has been a game here or there, but not much exciting as a whole.
