Older balls are still good. Long as they have been kept in decent shape and don't have a ton of games on them. Eventually the oil and use just gets in the ball and air hardens the cover. The only advantage to buying top of the line new balls is you know the cover isn't dried out and there's no games on it
Yeah, on your local house shot. Get on actual patterns and report back.
@@stormb28 some. It just depends on how good the condition is. That's literally the deciding factor. For example if it's been in a box/bag for 10yrs it'll be just as good as a new ball. If it's been sitting in the pro shop on a shelf for 7yrs and has been used it will be hit or miss

I still have a og defiant, of black widow solid reactive, the faball enterprise blue hammer and blue pearl hammer urethane, marvel and marvel s , zero gravity, between me , my dad and my older brother we have ALOT of old bowling balls from 2010 and before
99% true regarding games on a ball, only one ball I ever owned that did not die or weaken on me was the Storm Paradigm. I had resurfaced it so much the logos were almost gone and it still hooked like it did out of the box with easily 500+ games on it. Got it when it released in 2006 and stupidly got rid of it before moving in 2014, the Columbia 300 Alter Ego was also another one that stood the test of time for me.

The only two oldies I have drilled up right now are a 2011 C300 Freeze, as well as a 2011 Hammer Epidemic. Just scored a NIB Hammer Arson this week. I also have the first 4 Ebonite Missions (OG, 2.0, 250k, X) pretty much on display on my dresser.

@@AyoMrB Thanks. I never threw a Teal Rhino. My first ball I threw was the Johnny Pertraglia LT48, I believe that was rubber. Im 68 and very old school.
When I first started bowling and wanted to get my first reactive ball, I went to Facebook marketplace to see if I can find something for cheap to get me started. I got lucky and found a truck picker who came across over 50 used balls from a trailer and sold me all the ones not cracked for $50 😳 I ended up with 26 balls dating around 2008-2012. Of all those balls I ended up taking the Track 505T and 912T and Track Blue Sparkle Spare for my arsenal. I eventually sold the 505T for $50 and donated my 912T as I started getting new equipment. I still use the track spare ball and I have no plans to replace it! I’ve sold all of the balls (and gifted some too) and made a good bit of profit 😁 One of the balls in that set was a Mutant Cell and that thing was angular! I didn’t use it because it was 14lb, but it didn’t take long to find a buyer for that!
This makes me want to get my Original Hyroad back out and roll it😁

I still throw my Brunswick Fury Pearl from 2007, love that ball, I just know what its going to do. You can find some pop up here and there. I recognize a few of these balls from back in high school though, I know that roto grip Cell ball was a great ball.

It's interesting that all of those balls look very smooth down lane and want to get into a roll as soon as they hit friction. Not a lot of back-end snap to them compared to a lot of modern bowling balls. I wonder if that has to do with the fact that they're all plugged multiple times or if it's more a result of changes in oil layouts over the last 10+ years

I bowled as a youth and then got back into it around 2008 in my early 20's. Wes Malott made those cell and cell pearl balls look amazing and I always wanted one but never got them. Same with the Virtual Gravity.

Roto grip is still in my bag, also threw a perfect game in league with it, back when it was fresh..
I still occasionally throw my Danger Zone Red Alert from 2005. But, to this day, I still use my C-System Alpha Max every time I open bowl or in league. I have a Knockout black and blue and it hardly sees action.

this just shows you only need one solid ball and you’ll be good for years. i got too obsessed with getting a bunch of balls when in reality having one strike ball and one spare ball is all you need
My first reactive ball was a roto grip rouge cell, and I still have it to this day, it's been a great ball!

loved my invasion. i was devastated when it was stolen from my car. they got the chrome and yellow power groove as well. i took a hiatus from the game over that.

Wes Mallott gave me a brand new roto grip cell pearl during the US OPEN when I was working at Brunswick zone Carolier and we got to talking about ball speed and rev rate and he said “what weight ball do you throw?” I told him 16# and he said hold on a sec, and he came back in with a brand new cell pearl and I still use it today as my primary ball, until my Black widow 3.0 gets drilled

My dad had a virtual gravity that had like 12 games on it so I got it re drilled was surprised at how much it hooked

If i could have any bowling balls it would be from visionary and 3 lane 1 balls the pink panthers and the teal buzzsaw . But i could put 2 to 3 arsenals out of my dads old visionary bowling balls . Plus he was on test staff

Good video; I've been getting increasingly annoyed at Bowling CZcamsrs who say how a +10-year-old ball will go straight as an arrow. That doesn't make sense, specifically on a med volume or slightly burned house shot. Then again, they're all staffers or own proshops so....

Do a league with the balls. Compare averages to newer balls that you have in a current league. Post a video/videos on updates of that. I would like to see how that compares to some of these so called modern day house shots. I bowl at a couple different spots here in OH and WOW some places I swear make up there own oil pattern. Half the time if I ask what the pattern is they have no idea.

There is such thing as coefficient of restitution. There is a max level for how strong balls are able to be in terms of amount of deflection. So in a way, yeah they are because of the way the rules are for making balls.

8:26 shot goes 13 to 5. Next shit goes 16 to 8. Both strike. God nobody would average 200 on anything truly challenging. I'm a 220 house bowler myself, tool 4 years off and went back to my first night of league last week. Shoot 180 212 245 267. Front 7 and I think all 7 looked different going down the lane. Lol

@@220avg fair, I couldn't see your feet. Yeah I don't mind feeling like a boss shooting big games 😏 I get it. I prefer/miss wood lanes for the fact that you actually have transition. I can pretty much throw my 4 games without changing ball or position. Usually I start off with the solid and end up changing to pearl if the ball loses its reaction. Bowl on brother
