  • Let’s get down and dirty about steroids, or prednisone! Not literally, but sometimes steroids can make you feel like you are climbing out of your skin.
I’m all about being honest and talking about how medications are supposed to help you feel GREAT. But let’s face it, sometimes our best intentions backfire and you may feel HORRIBLE, or at the very least, not like the version of yourself you want to be.
And that is ok! It’s OK to speak up and let your prescribing healthcare person know that you are not liking something.
This is part 1 of a few videos about steroids. Let’s get the conversation started!

I can't say enough about Prednisone's virtues. It stopped my Polymyalgia Rheumatica right in it's tracks. Stopped it cold. Pain totally gone!

I recently went to doctors for lung infection, this prednisone was prescribed along with amox. But the prednisone was a great big wow! I came back to life, my legs didnt swell in fact went down. My arthritis stopped acheing, i was able to move again and felt energized. But the doctors wont help me, loose weight and yadayada, but cant loose weight if there is too much pain and too tired. What is like this i could use?? Is there tests to be given for what makes us inflammed?? I am not living, im just suffering, this has to end.

hi doc. ur video was amazing. I need your guidance. I am asthmatic patient and using inhalers . however since last 8 months i am using 5 mg prednison in doses on medical advice. however, whenever i leave steroids i have increased congestion and cough. Therefore, i am now using one 5 mg with inhaler regularly without any side effect. This enabled me to do my physical activities as well. my sleep is also normal and feeling great. hope 5 mg daily dose will not be a problem in long duration?

Please forgive the oddness of the question it's along the lines of how long is a piece of string? But I have a neurological issue and my doctor has prescribed 1000 mg per week for 12 weeks and then 1000 mg every other week for another 12 weeks so I've been researching and reading and I understand high-dose and low-dose and I guess this qualifies as a high megadose? So then where I'm at is if this is effective in treating the nerve problem what general course of tapering would be the right length of time? Also, I had started on a pill form and after three days of the loading dose I experienced tremendous weakness, so we paused it. My new doctor is prescribed IV steroids, and made me aware that the body better tolerates that perhaps. So I'm also wondering in a generic sense how quickly people start to feel a change for the better with the larger IV dose if that's a question that can even be answered because I do understand a piece of string can be any length.

Hello, I just found your channel and I'm very excited. I'm wondering, I'll go through your videos, but can you do a video specific to AS. I'm a 56 year old female that was only diagnosed in the last 2 years but I have had issues since my late 20s. Unfortunately I could not get doctors to diagnose me, to really take the time to figure out what was going on. At the time I was having multiple auto immune conditions which I believe made it difficult for doctors to see my back pain as real and not depression or stress. I had undiagnosed hashimotos and mcas. They caught hashimoto's but not ankylosing spondylitis or MCAS.

Hi! Im 61 and currently on 5 mg prednisone for PMR. I also have hip bursitis and some tendinitis. It had been a miracle for me. What is an alternative medication or supplement once I come off the pred. In a few months?

Yes I just experience the side effect of a heightened aggravated mood but did not recognize it as a drug side effect and destroyed a special friendship with my outburst. I am trying to mend this relationship but what a poor excuse for my behavior…the medication made me do it! That’s sounds like a lame excuse!!!

My 44 year old daughter is bed bound at home, with no treatment for a) ovarian cancer b)endometriosis c)fibromyalgia d) arthritis...the list goes on.When I, her carer, asked if she could have more opiates for pain control, I was told...oh no, I dont want to make her pain worse. I researched this and discovered the controversial OIH study by Dr Chou which was adopted by the CDC and Australia, that says more opiates in rats cause more pain. BUT NOT IN HUMANS! Dr Chou cleverly got his study through and thousands of pain sufferers have died, of overdoses of illicit drugs, of suicide. My daughter cries day and night. I hate the doctors who wont listen. We have so few like you. Thank you for your compassion.

I have very severe side effects from it but sometimes its the only option. Im currently on a decadron shot and prednisone because i started a bad pleurisy flare and this time i STILL have worsening pain. I could always at least count on it working but now its not 😢 or if it is my flare is THAT bad 😳
I would like to hear what can be done when even prednisone fails. I know i might be put back on chemo or biologics, but many of those protocols also require steroids. That is why my dr put me on stelara, so i can avoid steroids, but stelara didnt help this flare 😢 its months before i can see my rhuemy
