I am a Natural Gas service technician with 22 years of leak response experience. I cant tell you how many times over the years that ive heard " well, we've been smelling it for months, but didnt want to bother you guys "??? I cant say it strongly enough. IF YOU SMELL GAS, CALL RIGHT AWAY. IF THE GAS COMPANY COMES AND THE SMELL REMAINS, CALL AGAIN. CALL EVERY DAY FOR A YEAR IF YOU NEED TO. Every time you call, the company is federally obligated to respond in a short period of time. Sometimes, you get a lazy tech, sometimes one who isnt experienced enough, sometimes you just cant find a source immediately. Sometimes management decides they dont want to invest the resources right away to fix a known issue ( and believe it or not, the government lets them do this based on the severity and location of the leak ). In any case, sending a service tech out, especially an on-call tech is very expensive. The squeaky, costly wheel gets the grease sooner. Cal, call, call. They cant charge you and cant retaliate against you. You just might be saving a life.
Was over 40 years ago in California my neighbor told me how she went out one morning to start her car and smelled natural gas. She did not start the car but walked around to try and locate the source. It was the house next door, the one I eventually bought. She called to report it, then called in sick to work (she didn't want to start her car). When several hours went by and no one came, she called back and threatened to call the TV news. They came ASAP. Turned out the entire line in from the street connection to the house was shot and crumbled to bits. She said if you could smell it outside from across the lot she thought there had to be a lot of gas and was afraid to trigger an ignition. I can only imagine what might have happened if she hadn't insisted. Thanks for commenting and please stay safe in your work.
Good luck with that warning. For the most part, people are idiots.
@@angelachouinard4581 Thank you!
Wait, People still ignore gas!? If I even fart im sitting on the other end of the room. Thats crazy.
America has zero regulations for the storage of ammonium nitrate, the fertilizer ingredient responsible for the Beirut and Wacko explosion. It tends to absorb moisture which makes it unstable. But paying to resettle illegals from the open border is more important.
How horrific, my deepest condolences to the firefighters' family and loved ones. Also, for the homeowners
Props to whoever built that fireplace and chimney.
When I rebuild my home, I rebuilding it out of chimney.
@@SusanKay-a horrible situation but, hilarious comment 🤦🏻♀️🤣
What's up with all of these exploding houses lately 😢😢😢
Bingo
Our failing infrastructure coming to the front.
29 miles from DC, about a 40 minute commute and very close to Dulles. We may never get the full story.
And in DC area. This happened recently in DC. Sterling is a western suburb of DC.
Around D.C. too.
Just finished laying 4500 feet of gas main, never ending remember of how dangerous leaks could be.
Yep an improper gas line lay once destroyed an entire community

Oh God NO! To lose another firefighter is beyond heartbreaking! I’m so sorry for all those injured and broken hearted for the family of the lost brave man!
I never can understand why people smile when speaking about such devastation and the people who were wounded and 1 dead. The reporter should know the difference between gasoline and natural gas. That's exactly why I very seldom watch the news.
I couldn’t agree with you more! How that young lady could come out and smile is beyond my comprehension.
Damn that's 1 thing that always scares the shit outta me which is a gas house explosion..
rip to that firefighter
My heart goes out to the family and everyone who knew that firefighter!! I hope the rest of them arent too injured from all that to heal quickly!! ❤❤❤
RIP Firefighter❤
😢why is that girl smiling???😢
She has no clue😂..
Something fishy is going on.. this is a common trend now.
Guessing the jan 6 pipe bombers house. covering there tracks
Is this the Virginia "house explosion clip" thats been makin the rounds for like a month?
Yes, you had better believe it. It will be hush-hush and the top corporate execs will never be held accountable.
@@ars-almadel_salomonis9680 No. This happened hours ago.
See what can happen when you “cook meth” inside your house…… question…… if the firefighters were responding to a house explosion, how is it that one died and 9 others injured? Just curious. Did the house explode and 2nd time after EM personnel arrived on scene? Neighbors had already stated that the smell of gasoline was noticeable times before this explosion. So very likely not a natural gas explosion but gasoline and a source of ignition. Soooo yea “something is fishy” about this. Just saying. But this will quickly fade away until the next “shiny object” comes across the “news feed”……….. nothing to see here, move along…………
No one is talking about the family if they were home or not ?
From what I heard from the firefighters that where there they made it out before the explosion happened
The family was not in the home at the time.
@@2013HotNewMusic I did watch but I think I all I heard was about the firefighters was trapped inside and they were transported to the hospital which sadly we lost one of them that broke my heart, unfortunately I didn’t hear anything about the residents, FYI I watched bunch of the videos from beginning to the end
I was thinking the same thing.
@@JackFromWyoming The *_"everyone ran out"_* was the family of the girl who was being interviewed, not the residents of the home that exploded. Regardless, the family of the incident home weren't in the home.
🙏 RIP PERISHED FIREFIGHTER 🙏
Condolences to your family and friends at this difficult time. ✝️😢😥
That the 3rd maybe even the 4th house that has blown up in the last 4 months interesting 🤔
What is UP with all this exploding homes likely?!
Thanks ExxonMobil. They love their subsidies and piping gas to peoples homes to make everyone dependent on them
They smelled Natural Gas...or Gasoline ?? Surely to goodness the Reporter knows the difference between gasoline and natural gas?
Mmhmm
There’s actually been a couple explosions like this all over the US. I still think the one downtown Fort Worth at the hotel was something else There’s literally videos of people saying they smell gasoline
LP gas most likely
@@Desy.YKW_ it will be interesting to find out, still a horrible tragedy for the community
I know!
Gasoline? And why not interview a more mature person?
Makes you wonder?
Gas, not Gasoline. I'm sorry that there wasn't any senior witnesses to this tragedy willing to stand in front of a camera just to meet your expectations. obviously the girl's parents should have raised her with more tragedies so she would know how to handle an interview after seeing a house explode. next time, I'm sure the news crew will ferry the local retirement home to the unplanned explosion before it kills people, just in case.
You're a ding dong
@@quanahm928 im 17 and shed tears for the firefigher she clearly doesn't understand reality tbh.
@@notyaaveragejoe she probably didn't even know yet, this was on scene, she was nervous, and bashful, and the reporters were asking HER what happened, not telling her like they did you. you clearly only understand YOUR reality.
Why are there so many house explosions as of late?
Because people don't understand the dangers of gas. Younger homeowners were never taught.
Prayers of strength and healing to the victims in the hospital and anyone else who got hurt. Rest in heavenly peace to the firefighter. Condolences to families and friends.
Why she got a big smile that's disrespectful
Itnprobably is stress. It happens as involunteer muscle contraction on face. I don't think she's disrespectful, rather scared, stressed.
R.I.P. sir sending my condolences.
Horribly confusing explanation of the incident
So very sorry for the loss of this brave man who gave the ultimate sacrifice. A true hero.
Some people smile when they at nervous or scared-stop judging her until you know how she reacts to stress
Is it just me, or are there an abnormally high number of house explosions happening lately?
This wasn't an accident there's been a house a week exploding if your not stupid you know what's happening.
They want to ban natural gas. What better way to turn the public against natural gas.
Oh ,please not laughing, this is not funny ,lady!
Dam it I’m crying and how could they be happy ????😢
Some people laugh and smile when they are nervous not always because it is funny.
Maybe she did the interview before she knew anyone was hurt.
I do not think she was laughing at what happened. There are people out there when they have to deal with tragedy in a moment may react differently. But judge you will.
She may have just been nervous..💝🙏🌹
Praying for the family during this time.
Terrible tragedy, my condolences to the firefighters family and everyone affected. My prayer 🙏
Why wasn’t the gas company called ?
Thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. to that brave fighter. 🙏🏼
So sad sending prayers 🙏♥️🥲
This is a time to mourn. Firefighters are the true heros.
Firefighters definitely don't get paid enough for the risks that they take.
i shed tears for the firefighter who has a family that will not have him come home tonight and this girl who got interviewed seems to not comprehend what she heard was horrific and laughs about it how am i in the same age range as her I don't know.
I was also thinking how disrespectful and ignorant this female laughing and smiling while describing and explosion that killed one brave fireman and injured nine others . I don't think I have seen a bitch look dumber in my life.
ENTITLED living in LALA LAND ." WHY ME KINDA PPL"
You don’t have any idea of the context of that clip. Obviously the explosion had already happened, but that interview was recorded earlier - most likely before any information was known other than that somehing had exploded. The only thing she knows at that point is there was a loud noise that shook the whole house and it was smokey outside and everyone she lived with was OK and as confused as she was.
There is also the very basic human trait of being overwhelmed and having delayed processing when you’re actually involved in a traumatic experience like that. It can take hours or days before the actual weight of the experience catches up with you and you begin to experience it for yourself. That’s the nature of trauma. The fact that you don’t know that is something you should count as a blessing, because it means you’ve never been in those shoes before, but I hope if you ever are in that kind of situation, everyone else is a little kinder and more understanding with you than you’ve been with her.
RIP to the fallen firefighter 🫡 you will be remembered
😱💔😭prayers for those firefighters & their families💝🙏⚘️
Does the news reader woman know the difference between gasoline and gas?
More questions than answers. My condolences to the department and families involved. Rest easy brother. 💔

That girl smiling almost laughing is appalling. Should not have had that put on air. Everyone feels the same that seeing it. That is just totally bad. My heart goes out.
To the firefighter and Their family and anybody that was affected. God bless all of you That are involved .❤❤❤❤❤❤
God bless those involved. And please, don't interview young people who obviously have no concept of death and.seriousness.
Wow... I can't believe she said gasoline.
Question for anyone out there that may know the answer, please? Can someone please tell me if maybe....Just Maybe....if the cold weather could have had something in some way to do with this explosion? Old pipes, pipes not wrapped or insulated for the cold weather??? Just asking because honestly, I don't know anything about natural gas lines and I'm just trying to learn something new. Can natural gas lines even be insulated?? I'm only asking because I truly would like to know/learn. Thank You.
Prayers for the community and firefighters families ❤🙏🙏🙏

What about the family in the house, either i missed something or they arent saying the 2 civilians are from the house.
Not gasoline!!! Liquid gas, the woman kept saying gasoline, which it is not!
Condolences for the fire fighter killed in this tragedy and their loved ones. Prayers for all the injured, and this community!!
Why is ATF their? Not a gas explosion
I agree
Rip 🙏 brother 😭 ✌️🇹🇩
Who are the homeowners? Where were they?
I heard they had evacuated the house along with their pets and were standing outside when the house exploded. I'm SMH because people on that street said they had smelled gas in the air most of the day. Such a horrible tragedy!
Tip: IF you smell a rotten egg smell , can be natural Gas.
Pungent smell, can possibly be carbon monoxide and a petroleum like smell can possibly be gasoline or jetfuel.
*call your local Natural gas company if you smell something don’t take any risks, they have techs they send out to check all calls …

Good reporting from the news staff. Prayers are up for the firefighters and the families. Very brave souls ❤
My condolences to the deceased firefighter. My prayers to all who’re affected. My question is, if the fired department came by earlier to check, could this have been avoided? Very sad to hear and see. I pray all the people in the hospital will be alright
It was natural gas, potentially a leak or a stove left on. It should be protocol for the fire department to bust out all the windows if they pull up to a house reeking of natural gas. Thus decompressing the house and start letting the gas out. The police arrived because it could be suicide, homicide, or the owners could have been home. Even if away they need to locate the owners. At a scene like this, if anyone was inside. They'll have to comb for hours to find any trace of them.
They were trying to clear the house of gas ... It exploded. The owner was present but not in the house at the time because of the gas. Please don't speculate so much.
@@ShimrraJamaaneHow? By going inside or were they outside?
@@JB91710 Both. Some were inside and some outside. To clear the home of gas you have to vent the place. That involves opening doors and windows while placing air movers near to flush the home. You also need to find the source of the leak to try to stop it from getting worse.
@@ShimrraJamaane The leak gets fixed at the street, not in the house.
@@JB91710 Not always. In this case, it was a propane tank, not natural gas. There was no way to shut it off from the street.
😢
*_Why is Kyleigh Krishreck so happy about it?_*
R.I.P. 😢
This country should have a mandatory inspection for every home because this is something very serious. There is alot of people who don’t know what gas smells like and think it’s normal.
If all these people smelt gas they should have phoned 911 right away and had the gas shut off to the neighborhood, never take that lightly
What happened to the family from that home?

Oh no that's horrible
Did they smell gasoline or natural gas?
Who lived at 347 Silver Ridge Drive? And how TF do they know for sure and how are they allowed to say that the cause was a gas leak? A formal investigation takes days, if not weeks or months?
Because the responders detected a cracked propane tank 40 minutes before the thing blew up. This is all public info.
Ughhh the fire chief gave a formal TV interview as to what what happened.
The female reporter said gasoline, Obviously she doesn't understand he meant natural gas

No information about the residence of the home? Was anyone home when this happened? Why is there no mention of any of that?
Why is all this crazy stuff happening in Loudoun County?
I was there. I have video if you want.
Horrible. Sorry for family. houses do not explode.
She is all laughing like a firefighter died u know
Why in the world would anyone even be around this place without a propane specialist on site??
Don't mess with your gas furnace. People are trying to save money by turning their pilot light off and then not cutting off the gas correctly. Leave it to the pros. It's not worth losing everything. I've seen this happen in two separate instances and when it does, there's literally nothing left but a hole in the ground and debris everywhere.
I wonder if anyone's security cameras recorded this incident.
Its the FIRST time ive heard a nnenws report about a home explosion where the RESIDENTS of the home were NOT MENTIONED ONCE. Eight (8) minites and fourteen (14) seconds of video & reports on everyone EXCEPT the resident or owners of the home. Says ALOT. Glad I dont live in that area. You see who matters and dont.
Again?
You never miss 🔥
Was it Natural Gas that is used for cooking, hot water and heating systems or automotive gasoline?
It was a leaking underground propane tank that exploded.
No
Rumors say it was a guy who lived in that house that started the fire and started the explosion. Can’t confirm that but that’s what people are saying
The actual address appears to be 312 Silver Ridge Drive
