I never wanted a staffy but my husband loves them so when a friend had puppies we decided to get one.He is now 10 months old and is honestly the loveliest boy ever.He is so gentle and cuddly i love him so much. We have also now got a beagle/staffy cross and she is so sweet too.Love Staffs

I love Staffies. In compensation for their relatively small size, Staffies are strong, brave, loyal & intelligent. All Staffie lovers should read 'Jock of the Bushveldt' by Percy Fitzpatrick. It has also been made into a film and is available on DVD.
My next door neighbor had a staffy and she would come see me nearly everyday when i was a lad. Still miss her till this day, so loving and caring these dogs. Recommended for anyone just looking for a loyal and loving companion.
Too many buyers/breeders when they are looking for a Stafford are so over focused on colour. I loved watching this video as it showed that the conformation of the dog was the most prominent critique. I love all Staffords and have done for thirty years. Thanks for sharing!
Staffordshire Bulls (sometimes referred to as Staffies) are swell dogs, I tell you what. They are a breed that really captures the true essence/spirit of a bulldog. Even though they have went more along the line of pets and show dogs than working dogs, they are still dogs that can be used for many manner of work and canine sports. But coming from the original bulldog folks now know of as the American Pit bulldog, that is not all too surprising. It's good to see that even though it has moved to be seen as a companion, it has not really lost the agility, functionality, integrity, or health of a working/purpose bulldog.
These are wonderful, beautiful dogs, and you should learn to write with proper grammar before you decide to criticize. Ideas expressed in such an unintelligent manner will never be taken seriously. It is only your loss that you will never experience or understand the greatness of this and related dog breeds.
I get so mad watching this film!...Only because These are PROPER STAFFORDS owned by true enthusiasts who have only the interest of the breed at heart. I walk through my city every night and see a Rag Tag of mongrels with a bit of Stafford thrown in for the local Arseholes to have as some kind of status symbol and when one of these things mauls someone the media say it was a Staffordshire bull terrier 'type dog' that did the damage.Staffords were the best kept secret for dog lovers for many years and I wish it had stayed that way.

My great-great-grandmother has a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that suffers from cataracts. They lenses on both eyes are very cloudy. It's caused by getting older. Dogs have limited color vision, but because Jasper has such bad cataracts, his color vision is even worse. It started in one eye, but then got it in the other. His vision is very bad. The vet says it is caused by aging. However, he was hit by a car and my great-great-grandmother thinks that is what caused it. I think it could be ultraviolet light, as she lives in Fresno, CA and it is sunny 97% of the time there. Somebody mentioned it could be genetic, too. Another person mentioned it could be caused by his skin disease, which he has suffered from all his life. Somebody else said it could be caused by my great-great-grandmother smoking in the house. One veterinary technician said it could be caused by the fact that he had been on corticosteroids for his skin disease for a long time. Jasper also suffers from a metabolic condition called Aminoaciduria, which I've read can cause cataracts in humans, but I'm not sure about dogs. The cataract in his left eye is partial. It is a Nuclear sclerosis cataract. The one in his right eye is a Cortical cataract. Jasper's father suffered from Posterior subcapsular cataracts. His eyes started getting cloudy at around 7, but you could still see through the cataract, but you can't now. The vet was able to classify both cataracts in his eyes and both are a 5. I still think it's because all of the UVB exposure the dog gets living in Fresno, CA. Jasper will be getting surgery to remove his cataracts in exactly 6 days. They said because his cataracts are so bad that surgery will give him some of his sight back. He will be getting a procedure called Phacoemulsification.

most of them are not enough exercise . I can't put pictures in here ... just to show you what regular swimming can do from a sbt . definition it's like of a body builder . some of them have a good head , some are moving good ... but most of them are'n exercise enough .

Ann, some staffys have had all the aggression bred out of them and they are cute and brilliant all their life like my sister's one which she paid $3,000 for. Mine was a runaway from a back yard breeder and you are right, he was perfect until he was 2 years old and then he started wanting to dominate other dogs, particularly male ones and small ones. Although he is unpredictable and can be good with some dogs, I have to always have him on a lead or secured as he is a killer. He has killed a kangaroo and 2 cats, almost killed a couple of other cats and a couple of other dogs and a sheep. But he is perfect with humans including children and I love him. As for you 2 guys who replied to Ann...what is wrong with you that you need to be so insulting? Go get ya heads read so you can start enjoying life a bit more!
I do enjoy life quite a bit there "PIP"... Guess what....bully breeds were pretty much always bread to be aggressive towards animals but great with people and reason for this was when breaking up dog fights,hog hunts etc.the dogs needed to realise the enemy wasn't us so ya some will still have the instinct to kill animals and be dominate. Use a bit of common sense there "pippy" ....as for insulting being used cause I don't "enjoy" life....like I said its quite the opposite so as always....."Go Fuuucckk yaaaaaaaaself"... They pant so much because: a) they're very excited with so many other dogs around etc. and b) at least in this video it looks like it was hot and on a hot day, heavy breathing isn't exactly uncommon. And the barely moving: well they simply musn't move whilst being judged, how else are you supposed to do that?

They were originally bred as a bear baiting & fighting. Not a drug dealers dog. However a lot of aggression has been bred out of bull terriers they are not aggressive breed towards humans I have kept this breed all my life & are yet to be attacked or bitten by a staffy. Anyway given the amount of illegal immigration into Sweden the last few years this breed of dog is the least of your worries!

That is why when you're buying a SBT ALWAYS make sure it L2GHA and HC clear. That way in the future no litters will be affected by these illnesses.
