    0-60 in 9.7 seconds is pretty decent for a 1.8 saloon 1993! Of course in the UK our base model was a 316i with a 12.5 second 0-60 time, or if you were a real cheapskate, the 318tds with just 90hp and a 14.5 second 0-60! I don't think BMW sold many of those however.

      It's still about the same.

    • @cargueone1971
      @cargueone1971 Před 9 lety +4

      Yes those who say it's the same today it's not. Middle class made 50k then, equal to about 110k. A 25k BMW was pretty affordable. The middle class still makes 50k today, equal to 50k but the base 3 series are about 43k. People forget to do wage equations also in their price arguments. If we use those people's logic, minimum wage should be at 19 dollars an hour, and guess what, it's not. So people, stop with the price equations. cars are way more expensive now

    • @ktkof04
      @ktkof04 Před 9 lety +1

      Carlos Guevara Dude, your numbers are all based on bullshit. Middle class in the early 90's wasn't 50k, and 50K isn't 110k in today's money. Minimum wage has never even once been close to $19/hr, especially in the 90's. Keep your ignorance elsewhere Carlos.

    • @cargueone1971
      @cargueone1971 Před 9 lety

      ktkof04 middle class is not minimum wage. I grew up snd
      and worked middle class, 50k was the norm. The U.S. dollar bought more then. I also stated that minimum wage was never 19 dollars an hour if you read the comment. If you can read, pick up some books and use common sense. Take your arrogance and self entitlement somewhere else. I've been in the workforce for years, and the fact is that wages in the past 20 years have gone down. People always use inflation equations on goods but not on wages. That was my point.

    • @ktkof04
      @ktkof04 Před 9 lety +1

      Carlos Guevara Obviously middle class isn't minimum wage, I never implied that. $50k was not "norm" for most Americans in 1993. Care to come up with some actual proof that '93 $50k USD was average? I doubt it. There is no arrogance or self entitlement with me. I grew up in a small town in the mid-west, where most households could've only dreamed to make $50k in the early 90's. Wages in the last 20 year's have varied by quite a bit, often depending on your education and skill set. Inflation is calculated for goods and wages. If you're talking a PPP level, I'd still argue you can by a new better BMW for less.
