    I've had my "deluxe hardtail kit" just sitting in my bedroom begging for assembly! I'm waiting on a call back from the only local bike welder -.- hate being at the mercy of somebody else. However, I am beyond stoked to have found the chopper scene, meet so many rad people, spin wrenches, get creative, and have them knees in the breeze! Grateful you're so willing and able to share your knowledge with us because when you're learning from scrach every last bit helps. As far as i'm concerted these evo chopper builds are my new Bible. Stay mazi my dude! As

    Never had a hardtail Sporty, but I always admired them. Nice and low and the Sporty motor can be built into a beast. Knew a guy with a Ironhead Sporty, ran mid 10's in the 1/4 mile. Extended swingarm with struts and wheelie bar...not a street bike! Your videos tend to send this old man down memory lane. Thanks!

    Well lubed ratchet:) Looking forward to the build. I had a sporty that was a lot like this one. I should have kept it for something like this. Thanks.

    What is the latest (most recent) sportster model that Harley made that also has a kickstart? I would like to buy a sportster but they typically don't have a kickstart anymore... .

    At this time ..could you shorten your back bone ..1/4"..1/2"..to accommodate say putting on a 6 or 10 over springer front end ..that way you wouldn't have to cut apart the neck..???
    Just wondering ..

    I Like it. Im going to be following along on this build. It's bacily the same kind of build I'm doing on my channel. I'm a cheap bastard, so I use mid to late 80s Sportsters. You can pick up running bikes for about 2 grand. #joebobsgarage

    how much did it cost for this bike fully done?

  • @obiobiwan9268
    @obiobiwan9268 Před 4 měsíci

    A rigid frame is cheaper than the kit and it has at least 4 benefits. The rigid frame is $1,100 while the kit is $1,300.
    Benefits:
    1) There are no weak points in the frame
    2) You don't have to weld anything
    3) You don't have the rear section of a frame to dispose of
    4) You have a completely stock frame you can sell for $300-$400 to pay for the parts you'll need to replace
    $1,100 - $400 a frame sells for on ebay and that rigid now cost you $700

      @947w0rks  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Although I completely agree with you, the one downside to doing that, which to most people is the biggest one, is then your original vin number is no longer on your frame. Which here in CA can be a big issue when going to sell the bike/ can result in titling issues, especially if you ever have to get a vin inspection by Chp.

      @@947w0rks Good point. I had the same problem buying a motor in Modesto. The bike got a new motor and I got hung up at the DMV.

    Part 1: Frame ????? You didn't build that frame, you bought it. Why don't you do a series on actually building a frame from 20 ft length of DOM tubing? Then I might watch the rest of your series. Anyone can assemble pretty chrome parts.

  • @Silverass__
    @Silverass__ Před 4 měsíci

    Does the battery go behind the oil pan on that flat bracket piece on the back of the frame?
