Just wanted to share some real facts about Michael Jackson below, to remind people WHY Michael was the greatest artist ever lived 👑. Because at present time, many people “forgot” all the good things he’s done, because they believe whatever nonsense the media feeds them. The media controls what you see. Scandals, crazy stories, controversial topics draw a lot of attention, especially if it’s about a very famous person. They put dirt on his name to bring him down because they didn’t like the fact that he, a BLACK entertainer, became so extremely famous AND influential. At the time people were waaaaay more close minded and racist than nowadays. (Don’t get me wrong, racism is still a problem) Michael Jackson changed the music industry. He broke racial barriers. He paved the way for black artists. He put MTV on the map, he made an impact on history, his persona had cultural and historical significance. He changed the face of entertainment. He established the Super Bowl performance in 1993. His inspirational songs about charity, racism, corruption, environment, the speeches he gave about equal rights, his fight for clean water in Africa, his many donations to charity, have set an example for other celebrities to get involved with charity and use their fame , money and status to help others. What other celebrity before Michael Jackson ever took interest in actually helping other people? He was the first who spoke about the child in the Ghetto with AIDS that can’t wait, he funded the vaccines of thousands of children, he gave scholarships to many unprivileged black people in the USA. When Michael Jackson performed ‘’They don’t care about us’’ in poor neighborhoods in Brazil, his mere presence there was enough to bring attention to the problems people who lived there were facing. Before George Clooney and Angelina Jolie there was Michael Jackson visiting orphanages, hospitals, inviting to his house unprivileged and terminally ill kids for a free playday, covering medical expenses of sick kids for years. The media vilified him but if anyone else had done as much for other people as Michael Jackson did they would have been awarded the Peace Nobel Prize. Michael Jackson may have been ridiculed for his skin condition Vitiligo, which turned his skin white, confirmed in his autopsy report BUT the anniversary of his death 25/06 is now the official Vitiligo day, in his memory. People who suffer from vitiligo, take comfort in the fact that Michael Jackson was also distressed by it. Jayz, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce , Kanye West, Rihanna, Britney Spears are only a few artists who have become entrepreneurs following his example. Michael Jackson was the first artist who had his own clothing line, business activity , publishing catalog. Michael Jackson was as pioneering in business as he was in music. Michael Jackson paved the way for artists to become business moguls.
Princess Diana died in 97 and gave Elton a boost. Bodyguard in 92 put Whitney #1. Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous took MJ to #1 and kept him their because they were even spaced out 79-82-87-92 and off course he had a big boost in 2009 (RIP)
Thriller came out in 1982 and was huge but really blew up when the music videos came out a year or two later. At one point the music videos where the best grossing home video of all time.
Motown never paid to have there artists record sales counted. The Supremes probably would’ve been really high on the list for a good chunk of the 60’s.
It's crazy that it took so long for a woman to be in the top, and then it took even longer for a black woman (Whitney). Then after Whitney it wasn't till Rihanna that another black woman was really slaying the charts.
when she said 15min of fame for psy... he was one of the most famous acts in Asia even before Gangnam style and still is but it really shows how if artists don't chart well in America then they're deemed by the public as "no names"
Beyoncé's fans are so insecure... it's surprising to see how they come with all of the excuses and try to diminish other accomplishments to uplift Beyoncé. If Beyoncé had songs to update, she'll update them. She still updating her sales from Lemonade. At least y'all saw who were the true Queens and Kings. There is n need for PR Stunt when your music is great
Actually hilarious to see that Taylor Swift was outselling Kanye West before he took the mic? Which he claimed "made her famous." Clearly, it was the other way around...
This comment section is just full of Beyoncé excuses lmao. She’s legendary in the US but not played as frequently as Rihanna and Gaga worldwide that’s just the truth 🤷🏻♂️
what are you talking about??? that list goes by years and months, so obviously they would look to riaa certifications. beyoncé hasn’t updated many of her albums in over 10 years. the last time her debut album was updated was back in 2004. beyoncé sold around 70-100M albums worldwide and gaga over close to 40M albums. rihanna only sold 60M albums but she did outsell beyoncé records sales because she released many singles in a short amount of time compared to beyoncé
This isn't 2010. 😂 Rihanna and Gaga's presence aren't nearly as big worldwide as they once were. Gaga, especially, hardly got any kind of airplay before this last release.

You had to actually go to a store and buy the CD. I tell you, he would have outsold EVERYONE in the 2000s and 2010s in digital purchasing if he showed up around that time
As much as I love Beyoncé I’m not surprised she’s so low on the list...her sound wasn’t as universal compared as everyone else on here, ppl like MJ and Riri has a very universal sound so they had more hits and they were more popular, even tho I prefer bey over riri( I still love them both tho)

The fact that Whitney was one of the bestselling artists up to 2005 (20 years after her debut) is amazing
Queen was about to take over, but then...THRILLER CAME BUSTING IN.
Madonna was about to take over but...BAD CAME BUSTING IN ASWELL.
Also, lets talk about how the only time everybody got momentum was when Michael was taking breaks 👀☕ The impact Michael Jackson had on the world is immense and undeniable. He set and broke records, challenged racial boundaries and revolutionized the music industry. (Which u can obviously even see in the statistics from 1984)Michael Jackson's music and groundbreaking creativity changed the very infrastructure of the way music is produced and promoted.
Damn MJ 17 years at the top with the number 1 selling album
this is certified sales. artists have to pay to have their music certified Platinum, Gold etc. So this is those who sold the most that have been certified by RIAA. Beyoncé hasn’t had 80% of her catalogue certified.
EXACTLY! i still people in the comments trying to discredit her
Stylez Beast Mode exactly eminem did rule the 2000’s and he still is a huge seller. this list is highly inaccurate
They calculated albums + singles sold. That's why Rihanna was on top because she sells a lot of singles. When Beyonce and Adele sell a lot of albums
plus it’s goes by RIAA certifications and beyoncé hasn’t updated many of hers in over 10 years lol

Janet Jackson should've definitely been more prominent on here. Her, Mariah, and Whitney RULED the 90s. it's too bad she hasn't updated her RIAA certifications.
Agreed. I was like I know Janet should be near the top!
@@Zzucia She was the 2nd best selling singer of the 90s next to Mariah so should have been higher. This list isn't to accurate, but it's a good effort.

Yess Kings 💜
Ofc MJ was gonna be on top, he’s the KING for a reason 🙌🏽👑
Americans give Beyonce too much credit. Like 2/3s of her sales are from the states. She's big. But Rihanna has been the biggest black female artist WW for like over a decade now.
Michael DOMINATED the charts goddamn
(Don’t get me wrong, racism is still a problem)
Michael Jackson changed the music industry.
Louder!!!!!fellas👏👏👏
This dude MJ had a dominant career 😂👑
Princess Diana died in 97 and gave Elton a boost.
Bodyguard in 92 put Whitney #1.
Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous took MJ to #1 and kept him their because they were even spaced out 79-82-87-92 and off course he had a big boost in 2009 (RIP)
This is based on certifications not sales. Beyonce has sold way more than alot of the artists on this list.
There is artist like Mariah Carey who haven't update their sales since the 90s... yet she still upthere
For 7 years Rihanna held onto that 1st place spot wooow
Ok but Michael KICKED THEIR ASSES OFF THE CHARTS

The top 10 is actually with Rihanna, Drake, Taylor, Beyoncé, Nicki, Ariana
A7m4D F16 yeah you right
That's what I said
And Billie had the best selling album in 2019
So Whitney and Celine are the only females who matched MJ at his peak
Thriller came out in 1982 and was huge but really blew up when the music videos came out a year or two later. At one point the music videos where the best grossing home video of all time.
Michael stayed there for Lord knows how many years, I'm surprised at Beyoncé's and Janet's short appearance tho
Motown never paid to have there artists record sales counted. The Supremes probably would’ve been really high on the list for a good chunk of the 60’s.
EXACTLY!
I'm pretty sure the Beatles dominated the 60s by far but ya supremes were up there for a bit.
@@lukaz3336 Yes, The Beatles were the highest grossing act of the 60’s. The Supremes were 2nd.
I'm pretty sure Michael Jackson sales boomed when he died, so idk what's going on with this list.
It's crazy that it took so long for a woman to be in the top, and then it took even longer for a black woman (Whitney). Then after Whitney it wasn't till Rihanna that another black woman was really slaying the charts.

Actually hilarious to see that Taylor Swift was outselling Kanye West before he took the mic? Which he claimed "made her famous." Clearly, it was the other way around...

Should react to The Beatles.
I love how the Beatles broke up in 1970 and still where part of the best selling for a long time😂😂
This comment section is just full of Beyoncé excuses lmao. She’s legendary in the US but not played as frequently as Rihanna and Gaga worldwide that’s just the truth 🤷🏻♂️
No hate tho I still think she’s one of the greatest performers of all time
what are you talking about??? that list goes by years and months, so obviously they would look to riaa certifications. beyoncé hasn’t updated many of her albums in over 10 years. the last time her debut album was updated was back in 2004. beyoncé sold around 70-100M albums worldwide and gaga over close to 40M albums. rihanna only sold 60M albums but she did outsell beyoncé records sales because she released many singles in a short amount of time compared to beyoncé
This isn't 2010. 😂 Rihanna and Gaga's presence aren't nearly as big worldwide as they once were. Gaga, especially, hardly got any kind of airplay before this last release.
I think the most interesting part of this video is how the trends shifted from Bands and groups of musicians to solo artists in the 00's and beyond.
All this proves is that MJ is the GOAT
Didn’t expect Nicki to be on there during 2015-2019. I thought it would be 2010-2014, but I was wrong. There were more pop girls then ig.

And what most people forget is MJ was dominating ALL them years when digital purchases weren't a thing. You couldn't just go to apple Music and buy the album. Top Dog nielsen, chart data and billboard have not matching numbers, and they are usually the ones when it comes to music numbers.
As much as I love Beyoncé I’m not surprised she’s so low on the list...her sound wasn’t as universal compared as everyone else on here, ppl like MJ and Riri has a very universal sound so they had more hits and they were more popular, even tho I prefer bey over riri( I still love them both tho)
rihanna isn’t more popular than beyoncé. she released more albums and more singles than beyoncé in a few amount of years. rihanna overall isn’t more successful than beyoncé
