As in INFP I find that most of the time my assertiveness only shows when I’m upset or angry. I have no problem saying exactly what’s on my mind when in this state but otherwise I keep everything to myself, even when I feel I should say something. It seem like it takes me getting mad to say anything that I would normally hold back. I have been trying to change this but it’s a 46 year habit. LOL

Believe in ourselves that we can change is really important to us as INFP.
We have to express our feeling to this world in a good ways.
And I really believe in you because We are INFP Who can deal with inner emotional in a good way.
Do not let anybody or anything tell you What is value?
But ask yourself first then you will develop inner values to be the best values to this world around you.
No matter How old are you, just believe in yourself!!!

I think the "just do something" is the key element here. Just by doing something and especially in a different way, like getting up earlier/later, making some totally new food is a start for a change. Once you try small things differently, the courage towards bigger changes will also emerge eventually.

As an infp I always wanted to be a celebrity. I didn't have the confidence before but once in a while i would right. And when I say once in a while I mean once in a blue moon. Then I saw an interview where Eminem was talking about scattered rhymes. It just clicked with me and for two weeks every day, I wrote random lines down. After I put them together. And to my surprise it came out dope for my first time. Ever since then I've been writing and learning music. I kept getting better, I found out at 20 years old that I have a special gift for it. It comes extremely natural. It was just the hardest thing to get started. That's the hard part. But with the infp personality once I got started and stuck to it, it became my life. Now I believe I can achieve ANYTHING through my creativity. Nothing can hold me back. I will do what I truly want to with a career. I'm sure of it. It's been 4 years since I wrote cause I'm an asshole. The first 2-3 I was hesitant. It was a hobby. Now, I'm going to make it a career. I now realize the thing holding me back. Self doubt. Now I can ignore it and just go for it! My advice to all infps is to find what you truly want to do! I'm sure you already do though, I was very young when I new just thought it was an unrealistic one. But anyway my advice is to find what you are passionate about, and do it. Believe in your self! Even if you think you will never amount to anything, that your just kidding yourself, or your just not intelligent like I did, and still do ignore it. You will most likely surprise yourself. I know I did!!

This is great man. As an INFP - id like to add.. One thing I found really good to do is to take time to break things/goals down into little pieces using Te in order to make things more easily solved with Fi pasison and Ne inspiration. When things are broken into pieces, it's like a child could do it. For example, If youre looking to Design a Character for a project/or job... break down all the logical steps that are required to do so.. so that you can become more efficient and refer back to those processes next time .. so theres a consistency in the standard of work. As I design characters myself for work, I have found that a loose thumbnail sketch process is most important to begin with, then within that thumbnailing process I break down all the things I need to cover in order to solve all the problems to achieve a complete design. For example, start with what the chars head should look like. I have a process where I just scribble shapes until I have a shape that I like. Even within that process I may have a stage where I just sketch EYES or noses separately from the full drawing. Big nose, small nose, flared nostrils (all that good Ne stuff) I then move on to full body sketches (now not worrying about head as Ive already gone there). Even in that phase I might do separate sketches of costume of items of clothing and try out all the option intuitively.. then I do another phase where I try to combine the head shape ideas with the body shape and the costumes and merge the ideas together... This is easy because as an INFP we are good at 'merging' or creating a flow between disparate ideas. During this combining phase I FEEL the drawing and it just seems to come together // The reason I explain it like this is that I have discovered that Ne is good at coming up with a thousand optiions..so why not WORK with it instead of getting sidetracked by it. Without some level of containment.. it will go EVERYWHERE. So in a sense, Te gives the Ne specific and rigid framework to RIFF off of. The smaller the Te box, the more you can relax and Ne the crap out of it until you get the best idea. Ive then learnt to circle the one I like and move on to the next phase. As a professional, taking time to break down my work into tiny Te pieces and not move outside that box has meant I can relax and enjoy the work... even schedule my time because I have done that thumbnailing process a thousand times now.. and I know Ill have something in 2 hours (for example). Anyway, thought Id share. I guess the same goes for writing stories in breakig down plot structure and any other goal an INFP has in mind. It will take a while to break it all down though... but my advice is to just do it. It will be worth it in the end. Peace

      @GeekPsychology  Před 6 lety +19

+C I kept getting interrupted when responding to this. I think it's a great comment that we could all learn a lot from. "It's so easy a child could do it" is hilarious in that our Te can often be seen as "the 3 year old" function.
I definitely need to work on breaking apart my goals and projects into smaller isolated components - then putting them back together to form the emergent whole.

Thank you for this! As an artist and an INFP this makes so much sense and explains why I work well with 10% structure in my day/projects or whatever and the rest of 90% I need freedom to do whatever. I get to explore my ideas but in a contained area so I'm not all over the place or missing the mark.
Also, I'm going to use your process for making my characters as well, I'm excited to try something new that will help me create characters in a more in-depth way!

Thanks for describing your creative process. I am a composer, and your description mirrors and validates my composition process as an INFP. In school I heard of how Mozart, for example, could compose whole scores in real time in his head, and had a tendency to demean my own coalescing the myriad of ideas process that you describe so well.. I have also in the past criticized my breaking a project down into baby-steps to be able to move forward with a process, so your confirmation of this as well is affirmation.

I resonate so much with your message. I am also an INFP. I graduated college 2 years ago and had the hardest time finding a job suited for my skills and interests. I was, in sense, forced to use my Te to create structure for myself. I had a idealized goal in mind and broke down the necessary steps I needed to take in order to make that goal a realization. I reluctantly took arduous field jobs and unpaid internships. Just last week, I was offered a job as a water resources scientist with an organization that truly believes in me and allows me to use my creativity to solve problems! I hope all you INFPs the best

      That’s great to hear, Joanne!
I bet, like you said, that the incorporation of values into intentional success is an endless struggle - but that’s one of the key strengths we have! We often don’t know how impractical something is, so we continue to hold firm to beliefs and values despite the challenge.
I’m sure you know more than I do, but the problem seems to come when we are so afraid of being wrong that we don’t get out into the world to see our true potential.
      Best of luck!

I feel that NFs in general are very idealistic. Through introverted Feeling, we find and attach to some idea or belief about how the world should be and how we can make it a better place - then get extremely convicted about making it happen. But most INFPs really struggle with time and project management. So we fumble through it and try 10s or 100s of different paths in the process.
I think, using myself as an example, that impacting the world through helping people gain more self-acceptance is pretty impractical in the grand scope of things. But I think about it almost all day. It's a massive challenge, but it's something I'm convicted about and committed to.

Even though,it might have seemed impractical for you to help people with gaining more self acceptance, it's actually proven itself to be a very practical endevour for you, hasn't it? This is a great video dude. I work as a janitor and I hate it it's very draining. I want to teach music and be a touring musician. I do get stuck in my comfort zone. friend of mine told me you always love your job because you haven't left it. But he's right I need to find something better the problem is I get too comfortable because I have benefits or whatever it is. And I have all these goals but I don't know how to accomplish them maybe I need to ask you to write a list my goals and I need to write how to accomplish them

+Charles Benson Thanks. It was really frustrating to edit. Almost didn't complete it. I tried filming twice and splicing parts together to get what I wanted. Remembering what video clips had the phrasing I want, and patch-working them in is definitely not a skill I have.
That'd be a really cool job. Teaching is very rewarding. Maybe you could find a way to make it a side-hustle until you get more experience. That's what I'm doing with CZcams.
And what, really, are those "benefits"? And how much are they actually detriments. :P
Most of what I do on Patreon right now is goal setting and motivation. #justsayin

I used to work as a janitor during my university days. Whilst it may have been viewed as less desirable work, I found it less stressful (and better paid) than most retail jobs, but it depends on how many hours you work, and who your boss and colleagues are. One of the toughest challenges I found was to have a sense of occupational identity before I was able to make a living from music, and it took up about 5 years to get to the point where teaching was my main "day job" but it was worth it longer term. I've still yet to be in a position where I can do the touring musician thing, because evenings take up my teaching so the bands/gigging has taken a back seat, so I will have to work my way around that.
Perhaps the way to get started is to build up gradually (the less HSP would possibly jump straight in). For me, I chose to teach because there's more money in that than gigging/band. THere are several sources that I used to get started that made a big difference, and it would be worth considering subscribing to some kind of guitar teaching coach that resonates with your way of doing things (I avoid Mr H3$$, but Aaron from live&teachguitar and Dave from G4 have had some really useful feedback to help me grow my studio. Hope some of this rambling helps in some way.....
P.s. watching Shawshank redemption helped me to stay motivated in working towards getting out of a job I hated,

Its so amazing for me to discover all these things now. Thank you a lot for this! I relate to everything u talked about here. I'm an artist and I iniciated myself truly only 3 years ago, when I went to the world to live as a nomadic artist. I felt deep inside me this need for breaking my own comfort zone and discover new perceptions about myself and the world. Before, it was so hard for me to interact with people, I always felt strange and awkward because I couldnt comunicate properly and express myself, so my decision was to break eveything and rebuid the pieces of my existence in a new way. This is a bit of my story and now you are part of it in this moment of my life, thanks again, you are amazing!

I would love it if you could do a video expanding on that and what not. Its a relief to know I'm not alone and just cause I can get angry in those circumstances doesn't, that doesn't mean that I'm a bad person or something's possibly clinically is wrong with me 😂 keep doing what you do and pushing your boundaries 😁 peace be with you ✌️ Shalom 🕊️

New experiences bring some kind of relief, although sometimes they can hurt and be painful - but I think that is good in a long run... Run info through a logic, truth meter for learning the big picture, the reformed INFJ. Values can cause bias lead people away from the truth. Values over truth is an issue, values may need to change for improvement.

Way outside the comfort zone, but it has become easier the more I do it and now I look forward to it. My Te is pretty strong from being in the military and being an aircraft mechanic for 16yrs. I have found that the best way to develop Te is to practice it every day. One easy way is to create a budget and stay on top of it or create a to-do list schedule and try to live by it. Create theses systems then find ways to optimise their efficiency. One of my favorite words is efficiency. Lol.

Hehe like your sideways glance and peace sign u did at the end of the video, so much warmth and gentleness :) i havent met any infp males, only enfp and i gell with them the most cos our cognitive functions are technically the same but with an infp u get a deeper sense of that introverted feeling. And yes i do realise the exposure we infps need! But lately my si mode has been on high gear cos my Fi has been tipping on the darker side so i felt like i needed to stay in that bubble for a while till ive worked on my emotional health but i miss tapping on my Ne! +Anna Baldwin Getting out requires a lot of energy invested into messing with the outer world which might give you feedback that invalidates (or validates) your self-perception... both potentially put a lot of responsibility on you. And what if you mess up!? Does that make you a bad person!? What if you hurt someone in the process? Would it then have been better if you didn’t act as that node that created the emergent event that caused all that pain? Well... that’s something I’ve thought a lot anyway.
But really, you have good intentions. Everyone makes mistakes. You learn how to be better and influence more through messing up, through new experiences, through pain.
