These.motors are available with encoders built in so it is easy to use absolute position based on number of turns on the shaft.

    Hi.
A project that I want to realize for some time ..
Trying to change gears without a positioning feedback (a kind of sensor), I would not have tried. By cycling-experience, I know that the transmission never remains stable - temperature differences, vibration, load during the gear change. So I got stuck in this problem. I'm curious if it works for you ..

glad you posted this, I've been looking for a motor to open a water valve and close it, that looks the business and is what i ordered off ebay last week so feel better about it now, as i know the force needed to move a gear change, and thats about the same as my water valve
are you adding any feedback of the position? knowing how 'bad' chain gear systems are you could have it overshoot then back off a little to get the exact spot

    Hello.
What about getting "absolute position" in each moment? Or moving set only by delay?

Pushyhog the motor is a pololu micro metal gear motor 100:1 ratio. The rest of it I made myself.
