Matt is that best friend you grew up with that I never had that I wish I had. So he's just become my spirit animal.
Ahhhgh!..french onion dip is awful..plain jain sour cream is the way to go or the frito lay smooth ranch dip..to me french onion smells like dirty socks
@@nickhawkins2938 Too bad I cannot get you the French Onion dip that I thought was the best and ruined all other French Onion dips for me. Sadly the owner of the small chain that made it died and the family only cared about money and not maintaining what truly got them that money and now has a regional producer/distributor make their French Onion Dip.
The sweet heat is the ones I look for everytime I go to the gas station. Sometimes I'm lucky to find the sweet heat pork skins they make
Those are soooo good. Much easier to find in Birmingham. I have trouble finding them as easily since moving to Huntsville.
Them pork rinds be bussin
The best flavor!
Sweet Heat is money!!!
They have sweet heat pork skins.....I'm so happy right now!
"When was the last time I tried a new Golden Flake flavor? 1997...that was a pop quiz."
The correct answer is dill pickle about 5 minutes ago.
My mom literally ate those dill pickle chips like, yesterday. She LOVES them.
Haha, I was thinking the same thing!
"Highway 280 and cussing." Truer words never have been spoken.
Lived right off 280 close to Brook Highland, worked in Homewood. Need I say more?
@@pyenme haha I’m so sorry I hate going through there because of that darn traffic 😂
I know what u mean I live in Columbiana, and have to take 280 from Chelsea to go to work in inverness. I actually leave like 2hrs before I have to be at work. and I'm glad I do because one day it took me 1hr to get to work when I normally only takes 25mins
@@matthewholsomback5442
Matt, my sister lives on northern Virginia and she gets up at 4am to bet D.C. traffic.
I got on the beltway when the pentagon was letting out.....
Sweet Heat 100%! Golden Flake was my favorite field trip in all my years of teaching.
My grandpa used to farm potatoes for golden flake in the late 60's and early 70's, my dad says they always had golden flake chips
I did a tour with my daughter's class of the Golden Flake factory in Ocala a few years back. Had the chance to try them right off the line, still hot. Most amazing thing EVER!!!!!
So jealous
Dill Pickle chips are the best in the world. Like salt and vinegar with the flavor turned up.
Field trip to Montgomery. So real. You go, because it’s better than school, but it ain’t that much better than school.
You missed the best flavor “HOT”
Can we give Matt his own channel where he ranks everything? He’s literally the best.
He has his own channel, you should go check it out you won’t be disappointed :)
Been in Arizona for 20 years. Your videos bring me back to being in Bama. My Arizonaian wife just doesn’t understand.
Had a discussion with an online friend from New Orleans who lives with her husband in New Jersey. Posted an “It’s A Southern Thing” clip. Said her Jersey husband subscribes to their channel because even though they have been married for years and has been around her family, he still doesn’t understand us. Maybe it will help.
"280 and cursing" 😂😂😂😂😂
I work on 280 so i felt that with all my soul.
Thank you Alabama
Matt is my Spirit Animal.
"Like a field trip to Montgomery"
Iol'd pretty good at that.
I've actually been there for a field trip and I live 3 hours away, we went inside the capitol. But now when we head south we stop there to eat so I go there more(:
Dill chips. I thought the same Matt. Pickles are the worst! But Dill pickle chips are next level surprise sneaky good. Fun fact when I lived In Lithuania Dill chips were the most popular type of chip. And they changed me :) still hate pickles though. They do ruin your burger bite :) nice job Matt
Remember ketchup chips? Those were good.
@@wishingwell_333 I never been to Canada. But when I had them, it was like 20+ years ago.
I love pickles ❤️
Jesus loves you
AMEN! ^^
Jesus loves you
And you also!! Thank you for the reminder 🥰🥰
Dill pickle and salt and vinegar chips are the top flavors ever. It’s not even up for discussion. I said what I said.
Salt and vinegar yesssssss
Nooo
Nah sweet heat is by far the best
yes
@@IRNoahBody I’m sorry you have sucky tastebuds. 😂😋
Had a surprisingly good apple pie from Milos today. Y'all need to do a southern fast food pie ranking challenge. Just say'n.
Oh man I miss Milo's. The Burgers and Fries remind me of college so much
Oh wow! It's MATT!!!!!! 💞❤
As someone born and raised in Huntsville Alabama I have to say Matt is AMAZING!
Cajun HOT Golden Flakes are the greatest of all time!
“A field trip to Montgomery”🤣
You should do a pringles weird flavor ranking
Edit: this is the most likes I’ve ever had 😊
I was so worried sweet heat wasn't going to show up 😩 but he definitely should have included the hot ones
I wish we had a regional chip for Texas. Oh yeah, we have Frito Lay here in Plano, TX! Oh and we have Blue Bell ice cream too. You’re welcome, world.
Frito lay is the Post Malone of chips... They're famous and nobody knows why or how
I am from Georgia but thank you Plano Texas for Frito Lay!!!
The original thin and crispy and the salt and vinegar are my favorites. Golden Flake chips are gold standard! 🏅
dill pickle chips are best when you have been working out in the sun and they give you electrylites and and salt to make up what you just sweated out
Sweat Heat is the best chip ever made, and the pork rinds are right up there. I need sweet heat seasoning you can just pour on everything. I cant yall how many times I've turned up a bag of sweet heat chips in my life, just like Matt did at the end.
I laughed to myself when Matt said a bag of chips and some French Onion dip is a complete meal...On a really bad day that has been a meal with a grape Nehi if I could get it.
Or you just got home from work and
Uh, your friend reminds ya that there's no Netflix in prison...
Sweet heat is my favorite!!! I'm so happy matt thinks like me!!! I miss those chips.
Sweet heat pork rinds are even better!!
Yes thank you for speaking the truth ☺️
I'll tell you what we need, sweet heat seasoning blend/rub. I've been waiting to see that on the shelf for years!
It's a thing I promise!!! At least it is here in FL. Google it!!
They did release the spice about 5 years ago. I don’t know if it’s still a thing but it definitely was.
@@philiptaunton6378 it's on the spice shelf at our grocery store
That's crazy that I have never seen it, I will def look thanks y'all!
Dill Pickle is the best flavor, best snack you can ever have, Diet Grapico and Golden Flake Dill Pickle Chips, AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL
I wonder what they are like in a spicy tomato dip with basil?
Years ago when traveling we stopped at a convenience store in Indiana and asked for Golden Flake Chips. The clerk looked at us like we had two heads. She said they didn’t carry them in their store because it was a “southern” chip.....like it was a bad thing! My husband and I got a good laugh out of that.
I grew in in Birmingham, now in Nashville, and this video brought back so many wonderful memories. “Great pair, sez the Bear”, Cussin’ and Hwy 280, Barbers Sour cream & Onion dip, and not mentioned but The Orginal Golden Rule BBQ. Group, keep up the great work!
Omg Matt, you rock. I love Bless Your Rank. You’re so funny 🤣
Never had these chips but no matter. Fun to watch his ranking of them
I think I’ve now watched all these episodes. I love them. I did love the pre-pandemic ones a bit more where the lady brings them to your table but these are awesome.
Finally, someone who understands my hatred of pickle juice on sandwiches! Matt is the best!
Yes!!! Matt you nailed it! Perfect ranking. Sweet Heat for the win!
Yessir! Sweet Heat is the Golden Flake MASTER!!!
Cheddar and sour cream is the best ever, then dill pickle and salt and vinegar. When my aunt was dying with cancer all she craved were Golden Flake Salt and Vinegar chips.
"Hot" is by far the best flavor...and it got snubbed!!
I love Dill Pickle chips, and I feel personally attacked.
Matthew, I gotta admit, you were scaring me toward the end. "Wait, is he not even going to have Sweet Heat Barbecue?" But you, sir, have redeemed yourself. Yes friends, Golden Flake Sweet Heat Barbecue is what all other potato chips dream of being, the absolute epitome, numero uno, chippus maximus, say no more. Thus does Arkansas report in. Well done!
My father used to deliver for Wise potato chips back in the day. Had a big ol truck full of chips in front of the house growing up. I still remember the day they started carrying cheddar and sour cream, changed my fat little life forever. Love your channel. Much love from Central New York
I was born in Opelika AL. And I love golden flakes potato chips and the dill pickle is my favorite
Yessirrr I was waiting for the sweet heat, that shii is amazing👌
I watched this specifically to see we where sweet heat was gonna be ranked. Cause sweet heat chips and pork skins are amazing 👏🏻
Matt Mitchell love your work all good
Bless your heart!
I love golden flakes BBQ chips I'm glad y'all made it keep doing a good job
Just checked out a couple of your videos. Good stuff my friend. Your subs are going up at least one today!
Sweet Heat is the best! That's my special occasion chip! When I say get the good ones, my family knows it's sweet heat chips.
I totally agree with this bless your rank! Cheddar and sour cream is the best flavor, but I have never had a chance to try the first place bag, we don't have golden flake chips in New Hampshire, but I really want to try them now! I trust your palate 100% and hope that I get to try them one day 😊 thanks for sharing, I always love these videos so much and I really look forward to your next video ❤😊❤
"A let down like a field trip to Montgomery" 🤣...spoken like a true child of Mobile county public schools. You go on the N.O. field trip in 3rd grade, and then in 4th you go to Montgomery. You're told there's a zoo like N.O., but you just end up riding that charter bus home feeling like you wished you skipped this one...I love you Matt
1 down vote from Lay's I'm assuming.
People salty he missed their favorite flavor or didn't rank the way they liked.
Or Kettle.
Kettle sucks but Kay’s is to popular to dislike a smaller brand like sweet flakes or whatever it called
I almost downvoted due to the antics before he ate the pickle chip but he redeem himself.
Cheddar and sour cream with French onion dip is great!!!!
I love the barbecue dill pickle variety. I don’t find them often, but when I do... yum
I live in Ohio but we were in Tennessee last week, and having seen this video I bought every Golden Flake flavor I could find.. The one I absolutely crushed and couldn't stop eating was the crinkle cut Mesquite bbq. I like the flavor of the sweet heat more but the texture of the regular bbq was out of control. I gained 5 lbs in chips this week so thanks for that haha! Every flavor is worth trying for sure
Goldenflake is the best chip ever, Dill Pickle is my number 1 favorite followed by Sweet Heat BBQ. When I was in Elementary School( Elvin Hill Elementary) we went on a field trip to the Golden Flake factory in Birmingham and got to see how some chips were made and how they were packaged
Sweet Heat number one no doubt about it. I totally agree with your list Matt
The thumbnail is just adorable!
I’m sad that you didn’t have salt and vinegar which is my favourite
Mmm I too love the taste of concentrated sulfuric acid and flesh eating bacteria
@@jessicamedlock1802 nothing better 😀
Nasty.
Going to the golden flake chip factory was my favorite school field trip 🤣🤣
Glad to see that we all agree on the best chip
I'm sure I had plenty of Golden Flake chips before I had the dill pickle chips but it is my most vivid memory of them and they are the absolute best!!! I was instantly in love, I was 10 yrs old and my dad bought them for me at gas station in Anniston AL. Yep I love them that much. LOL! Also Barber's French onion dip is something that is hard to find in Georgia but that is my heart! Lol! Obviously I have a lot of fond memories connected to Alabma snacks bought for me by my dad. :) I sure do miss living in Bama.
Matt, I'm surprised you haven't had Zapps Voodoo Heat chips as someone who loves all culinary things Louisiana. Its got a slow burn and more than average heat level after you finish the bag!
Heading upstairs for some pickle chips. Thanks, Matt!
That sweet heat is the flavor of my childhood. The best.
Ok..next time my friend goes to Alabama..I'm giving her money to bring back to Illinois chips. Lol
Id suggest it lol
You can get them in Kentucky and Indiana. I bet you can find them in southern Illinois.
@@sdhayes ok..thanks for the information. Road trip this spring!
@@elroy8272 no worries! Just trying to save you some gas. 😁
Order them from utz online, utz owns them
I was waiting on Sweet Heat and you did not disappoint. THE best chip ever! Come for me I don't care but this ol' gal in Mississippi loves her some Golden Flake Sweet Heat! Thats my chip when I wanna treat myself. They need to make a really big bag of them cause they never last long enough!
Thank you for your video 📹❤
This tablecloth. My fave dill pickle chips. I don’t eat pickles but I love dill pickle chips. Dang now I want French onion dip. Sweet heat is everything.
Golden flake is the first school memory I have. Going to the factory on a field trip....is was like 5 or 6 and still remember eating a fresh warm cheese puff.
Sour cream and onion flavor chips were my favorite when I was a kid too - but one day I saw sour cream and cheddar - and my life was forever changed. I've never had golden flake because they aren't local to me here in New Mexico, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are on par with some of the regional brands I've run across in the past.
I'm a simple man. I see Matt, I click "Play".
I'll watch Matt rank anything, but yummy potato chips makes it even better!!
*"Pickles, the jerk of the Food World."*
Salt and vinegar, the jerkwads of the food world.
Wanting a slice of white bread with your chips is dangerously close to a potato chip sandwich, one of my childhood favorites.
I remember those.
Or add mayo and cheese to my chip sandwich.
My little sister mixes
Barbecue chips and vanilla ice cream.....
@@brot5246 ooo, interesting combination!
I’m typing this before watching, but if Sweet Heat ain’t No 1 then I’m gonna be mad
Yes!! Pickle chips. ❤️❤️
Matt is a lot like me; hates pickles, but loves dill pickle chips. We have the same opinion when it comes to pickles on burgers; if it's on there and I taste it, burger is ruined for me. Glad to know I'm not alone!
How does anyone not like this? It's Matt and potato chips. What's not to like?
I worked maintenance at golden flake for several months. Believe me, they taste much better fresh out of the cooler. The flavorings are added just before bagging
I have traveled the world over and have had countless different potato chips. And I am here to tell you that Golden Flake is the absolute best.
They might be good if you could ever not find the entire selection is out of date
Used to have a Golden Flake plant across town. Best freaking chips but now it's gone and finding Golden Flake in Central Florida ain't easy.
Why am I watching this so late when I can't even go store to store looking for Golden Flake. I need chips! Glad to see you have been Dill Pickle chip converted.
If you can find Utz, Herr's, or Uncle Ray's, you'll be a happy camper!
Sweet Heat BBQ.. Hands Down
The dill actually goes with french onion dip really well. The only dip they pair with and the only thing those chips are good for.
I mix a bag of sweet heat and a bag of sour cream and chedder together. Just open both bags, pour one in the other, and shake it all up for a min or 2. Best chips ever.
In Minnesota, it's Old Dutch potato chips. Made locally in various flavors but the plain usually is in every household. My Dad used to dip em in ketchup.
Sweet heat flavor🔥😍
Yes!!! The black bag is the best!!!!
I love the sweet heat pork rinds, ever since going on keto. My absolute favorite flavor!
@Amanda Torres
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Golden Flake Sweet Heat pork rinds are not keto. Only the plain ones are. The actual ingredient list on the package lists sugar, dextrose (also sugar), and brown sugar on the label.
@@AuntieNay I should've just said "low carb", not keto. Because honestly I only look at carb count and not what's in it. I don't care really, as long as I stay in my set macro's. I lost 10.4 lbs this week, eating Golden Flake Sweet Heat pork rinds twice. Lol
In Pennsylvania our most famous regional chip is MIDDLESWORTH. When I was in the army my family would send them to me when I was stationed in Korea, California and Germany. Yes they are that good.
to answer Matt's question of do you want a chip the same flavor of your dip? Yes. UTZ "Heluva Good" french onion chips dipped in "Heluva Good" french onion dip. Top Class experience
Sweet heat baby!! My fav
GF Sweet Heat HITS. so good!
RIP the Golden Flake factory…. We’ll miss you.
I called the winner as being sweet heat before even clicking on this video lol 😝💙 The sweet heat pork rinds are 🔥 too
