    Thank you Mrs. Chris. I use Salmon, add eggs, onions and corn meal. Mackerel is less expensive than Salmon. Love your recipes. God bless you and your family. Watching from Arizona.

    OMG ❗ I am almost in tears. My grandma use to make these all the time. We ate them with butter biscuits and brown syrup 😋.

    These look really good, Miss .Chris! Mama used to make salmon patties with egg and cold madhed potatoes or egg and bread crumbs then coat it with self rising flour! Yummy good with green beans and black eyed peas!

    I remember how happy I was coming home from school and my mother had these on the stove when I was a little girl I want to thank you so much for sharing your gift of cooking. Watching your videos that I just found today has made me very excited again about cooking. I always loved to cook and have people over now that my husband past and children all grown it hasn't been what it was but I realized now watching you that I still have that love and passion for cooking and serving others and it's still needed I will start with making Thanksgiving dinner I'm excited about it and I have so many recipes that I have saved from your channel that I will try God bless you and your family you have truly touched my soul today thank you I will be in touch👍😀

    Being Italian we did these a bit differently. We used tuna and breadcrumbs with garlic and parsley. I am trying these today...my son loves mackeral!

    I never made croquettes with mackerel, we use salmon, they are soo good! I grew up eating them,& I still make them. Leftovers, I love to make a sandwich with them. Good with green onions too!

    Yep. When I was a kid, my Mama would make these with stewed potatoes as a side. That's exactly like I like them today......stewed potatoes and cornbread. OOOhhh Yesssss.

    Yes, my mom would make it with Salmon and Mackerel. She said the canned Mackerel was cheaper. We liked the Mackerel better because it has a bolder taste. I still make it today along with rice is good eating.

    Still eat them today with salmon and mackerel....I mostly eat with rice (butter & sugar of course) but have eaten with diced potatoes (hashbrown).....wish I had some now!

    I remember eating salmon, croquettes all the time when I was a little girl. I’m cooking salmon croquettes today for my husband and myself. When he found out I knew how to cook salmon croquettes he was shocked. We live in Las Vegas. I’m also cooking rice.❤❤❤❤❤

    Brings back memories of my childhood!!! My dad was a single parent and he made rhis quite often, but just changed up the side dishes. We would have rice one time or mashed potatoes LOL but it was good and filling! It was very cheap to make and ww didnt go hungry if he could help it! May my dad rest in peace until that great day!!!!! Thank you for sharing!

    This recipe brings back lots of childhood memories. My mom cooked these when we were younger using canned salmon. She usually prepared soft fried potatoes and pinto beans, chili beans, etc..whatevet it was it was always scrumptious lol! Thanks for the walk down memory lane, Chris!     I've eaten it Chris but with can salmon not mackerel. Try squeezing fresh lemon then add some lemon pepper seasoning then putting flour on outside like a patty dip in flour all over shake off excessive flour then fry its really good 😛.

    I make a handsome salary but still make these homemade at least once a month. I love salmon croquettes w/ rice and butter biscuits and syrup. You just can’t wrong with an old school meal.

    Ms. Chris I was raised by my grandmother in Selma Alabama and we use to eat these often. I still make therm I just gourmet the up a bit. Thank you so much for bringing back to my childhood. You are wonderful and I really enjoy watching you.

    We still make them. When I tell you my mom made the best croquettes. Along with biscuits ( homemade and homemade syrup)😢 sure do miss her. She had a very secret ingredient she used. That our family still haven’t seen anyone do. We’re thinking about marketing it. That’s how different it makes it taste. Thank you Ms. Chris. I love your cooking so much. Be blessed forever🥰

    Hi Chris. Thanks for the tip using a little baking powder. And oh I now add the flour & mixed in before adding the scrambled eggs. Came out superb.

    We used mackerel because was cheaper. We always had fish cakes with tater cakes, sometimes beans. Jack mackerel fish cakes, potato pancakes, pinto beans

    If I’m making a lot and want the. Mixture to spread, then I’ll add the flour and breadcrumbs but I never used baking powder.

    You sooo right it was mackerel later start buying the can salmon.
    Libby’s had Keta or Chum salmon in the can I would buy those there’s no difference made now what variety in can .
    A Red Sockeye can be purchased.

    I loved pink salmon when i was a little girl with rice biscuits peas and i served it to my kids. I guess its taste the same; not sure but moms used salmon. Prepared the same way though. Think im going to fix some salmon for dinner tonight for me and my husband. #emptynesters. Thanks for video.

    My mom use to cook Salmon rice and sweet peas and rolls or homemade biscuits, and I'm from the A -T-L, and that's what I use now, they are delicious, I've never had mackerel!

    i thought mom named um Salmon Croquettes be cause we were 2 poor 2 buy Salmon so she used Mackerel and gave it a fancy name i didn't know this t[ll i watched this video that's why when i began to make Croquettes with Salmon the favor i was milder then i remembered i think Mackerel taste better it has a stronger flavor thank u Mrs Chris once again u trigger great food memories 4 me um gonna get some Mackerel and make some ill let u know how they come out

    Mom used to make Salmon Patties for a family of 9 people. She made them with toast torn up that must have been cheap croutons? She never put green peppers in her's, just onion so I'm watching all the videos and making my own notebook of recipes to give to a family member to pass down the old recipes that are budget-friendly for someone with college student loans she is trying to pay off. You are one of the best cooks I've seen so may have to try the flour instead of the toast croutons. It looks like it is easier than how I've been making them. Hubby loves them so much and you are a wonderful cook !

    Tonight my son just woke me up to ask how him and his girlfriend to cook salmon patties. I gave them this recipe..She is a beginner and their trying to eat healthy. I love salmon and mackerel patties. Even to this day a must have in my home..

    My momma would pick out the bone because they do have bones like all fish 🐟 and she would cook hers with cornmeal with a little flour like frying fish with fried potatoes as the sides

    Naver had any made with mackerel, but had many, many meals of these made with salmon, with peas or green beans on the side and sometimes fried taters with onions.

    Chris I love myself some salmon croquettes. Brings back memories of when my grandmother made them and served them with home made biscuits, syrup or sometimes with hot buttered grits. I had the pleasure of her teaching me how to prepare them as well as her hot buttered homemade biscuits. Now whenever my family wants biscuits and salmon croquettes, they come to me to prepare them.     I cook salmon patties by using corn meal instead of flour, because that is the way my mother made them. We make a gravy to go with them. Mashed potatoes make a good side, too. I enjoy watching you!

    My mom made these from canned salmon... I was shocked to hear people ate them with rice and biscuits and syrup for BREAKFAST! We always had them on Friday for dinner with spaghetti. I’m learning so much from you. I am born and raised in Chicago but I love your Southern recipes.
