- Hi everyone! Welcome on board a bonus video. Normally the next video would've been published next week, but now I have a extra video for you. And don't worry. Next week there will be another one. On many requests today I have another Delft Update for you. The 6th update on this matter. Let's see how the infrastructure looks nowadays after many other construction months.
0:00 Den Haag Centraal
We start the ride in Den Haag. Because of some problems with the the train I had to do a full reset at Den Haag. This took a little longer than I hoped because one of the compressors wasn't working for a while. Therefor I had to wait much longer before the air pressure in the trains systems was at the right level. With a three minute delay we depart from our first station.
2:35 Den Haag HS
With a two minute delay we arrive at Den Haag HS. The train dispatcher already gave us the green lights for a quick arrival and departure. Although that doesn't make any difference in this case because we come from tracks that allow maximum speed of 40km/h. And the 80 sign is located at the end of the platform.

On the right side you can see the ICNG on the shunting tracks waiting for another test ride.
6:13 Den Haag Moerwijk
Weird looking station with the orange houses if you aks me. :D
8:22 Rijswijk
At Rijswijk we encounter a signal that allows a lower speed (60km/h). There's a mistake in the video here. It should be limit speed to 60km/h. Sorry for the mistake. The lower speed is because of the intercity that was on our side at Den Haag HS. That intercity is delayed and is now blocking our path towards Delft. We have to slow down for a while.
10:58 Delft Update!
We have a green light ahead of us again. Time to gain speed and let you check out the new situation around Delft. As you can see a lot has changed in the the past few months. Still it will take until the end of 2024 before all four tracks will be in service at this point.
12:06 Delft
Entering Delft station. Still in the left tunnel side. In the near future the right two tracks will lead towards Rotterdam and the track (plus the one of the left) we're driving on now will be used for the The Hague direction.
On arrival at the station itself you can see big progress has been made at the platform level. Take a good look at the overhead wires as well. This is a different system from what is used normally. Instead of using wires we now use a overhead rail for high voltage in the tunnel.
15:24 Delft Campus
Coming out of the Delft tunnel we now arrive at Delft Campus. Also on this side of Delft a lot has been changed over time. New junctions, new tracks and so on. There are also four tracks at the station already. Not in use yet as you can see. There's still a lot to happen in this case.
Just after Delft Campus we'll come back on the two tracked line towards Schiedam. After the situation at Delft if finished those two tracks will be extended to four as well. But that's the next project.
Between Delft Campus and Schiedam you can see a lot of new signals waiting to get in service. With the new signals more trains can follow up on each other more quickly. This is needed for more frequent train connections until this part has four tracks as well.
21:08 Schiedam Centrum
Welcome at Schiedam Centrum. From this point on there are four tracks available again. The two on the left are most used. In the future the four tracks coming from Delft will be connected to there tracks.
24:22 Rotterdam Centraal
Arriving at Rotterdam Centraal. Although that's what we planned to do. We have to wait a little longer because the delayed intercity was split up at Rotterdam and the empty part of the train had to be shunted away first.

Dank je wel, Stefan. Leuk dat er ook nog een geparkeerde ICNG bij Den Haag HS als extra bonus in zat. Alleen die "limit speed to 140kmh" bij Rijswijk klopte gezien de signalering (60kmh) niet helemaal...Na Delft is het werk aan de signalering zo te zien in volle gang en de finalisatie van het perron voor sporen 3 en 4 laat ook nog even op zich wachten.

Ha Eddy! Allereerst bedankt voor het zien en melden van de fout in de video. Ik heb in de tekst toegevoegd dat hier een fout zit. Maar gelukkig zie je dat het op de bok wel goed werd uitgevoegd. :D Ja, die ICNG daar op het kopspoor is leuk he? Hopelijk kunnen we snel testritten gaan doen met gecombineerde stellen. En daarna lekker met reizigers. Delft schiet lekker op, maar er is nog een hoop werk te verrichten. :D
@@MachinistStefan Wat die ICNG betreft, wanneer kunnen we die in de dienstregeling gaan verwachten? Eind 2023? Want als er nog veel getest moet worden zie ik dat niet snel veel eerder gebeuren.
Voorjaar 2023 moet de eerste instromen. Testen zijn al ver gevorderd.

I have driven the sng in the game train simulator classic, now its really cool to see it in real life service, i have to say that it is a great locomotive. It has amazing acceleration and amazing brakes.

Kijk Stefan, dat is nou weer een leuke video. Station Delft twee eiland perrons en 4 sporen. Zal eind van dit jaar wel open gaan denk ik. En Delft Campus ook aangepast. En tussen Delft en Schiedam nog een dubbelsporig traject. Je hebt weer goed je best gedaan.

Wat de werkzaamheden tussen Den Haag en Rotterdam zijn die gasten van Strukton en Volker Stevin rail nog wel ffkes zoet. Denk dat het maandag was dat ProRail een livestream startte van station Delft, maar of dat nou nut had want er was werkelijk niets te zien😂😅.
ProRail wil toch ERTMS gaan uitrollen laten ze dan rond Delft beginnen zijn daar toch bezig.
Mooi weekeinde als je geen dienst hebt.

Ha Roelof! Ja die zijn daar idd nog wel even mee bezig. Eind 2024 zou het klaar moeten zijn als het goed is. Livestreams zijn op zich leuk, maar dan moet je wel op voldoende plaatsen camera's hangen. Je hebt alleen ook te maken met de privacy van medewerkers. Dus af en toe een cabinerit is dan beter. ERTMS wordt hier straks ook uitgerold idd. Daar is alles al op voorbereid. :) Rond Rotterdam zou ook een groot project mbt ERTMS moeten gaan lopen.

Hi Stefan, another great video of familiar territory. Noticed all the new work coming to completion at Delft. Looks like more happening at the Campus station or nearby, as well. They are doing some of the solid bar for overhead power on newer Metro driverless, here and me and a friend questioned about wear on pantographsin the one spot? I wonder if I missed one of your trips? I recently watched the movie with Scarlet Johansson and Colin Firth "Girl In The Pearl Erring" supposedly based in "Delf" Holland. Wondering if there was a Delf as well as Delft?
Hi Geoffrey! Thanks. Glad you liked the ride. A lot is changed at Delft indeed. They're making really fast process now. Delft Campus has solar panels on the roof. The whole station (accept the power for the trains and signalling) is solar powered there. Don't know how the technique for solar powered metro's works btw. There in the Netherlands the metro's get their power from the ground rails. If you think you missed a video, check out the tab "videos" on top of my page. There you will find all of them in publishing order. The Netherlands only has a Delft. Not Delf. 😉
@@MachinistStefan I think I misunderstood you re Solar Panels. I might have thought you were talking about something like they are doing here with the Driverless Metro trains power...a solid overhead power bar instead of the wires that move around so as not to wear out the pantographs. Sorry for that.
Ah that way! That's very good possible indeed! 😁😁 The solid bar is stronger than the wires we use. Even though the wires must last for many many years, the bar will add extra time to that. 😁😁
Leuke update. In Rotterdam is nog weinig te zien maar dat zal de volgende keer wel anders zijn, daar zou men ook elk moment moeten beginnen met de perrons bij de sporen 6/7/8/9 verlengen en de wissels aanpassen. En volgend jaar komen de spooraanpassingen bij Schiedam daar nog bij. Moeten jullie dan trouwens opnieuw gaan wegleren na al die aanpassingen of krijg je alleen de nieuwe tekeningen in je postvakje en mag je er daarna direct rijden?
Ha Michiel! Klopt! Rond Rotterdam binnenkort ook allerlei werkzaamheden. Heeft alles met hetzelfde project te maken. Wegleren is dan niet nodig. Wij krijgen als machinisten daar updates van in de wegkennisbank en eventueel extra per email.

Hi Peter! Thanks. The flashing crosses are meant for freight trains. They must stop before the next signal with a non-flashing X. This to prevent the train will strand in the tunnel. When the tunnel has all green lights the X will disappear and the freight train can enter the tunnel.
The X is part of the so called "Goederen regime" - special signalling for freight trains (and some other very heavy or underpowered trains) through tunnels. This is to prevent a freight train to enter a tunnel and get stuck somewhere because there wasn't a go-through-path set and the train had to slow down or stop and couldn't gain enough speed to exit the tunnel. If a X is shown there isn't a straight through route set. If there is, a G is signaled. The X is nowadays flashing so it can be better seen by drivers.

Little bit different. The flashing X means the train must stop before the next signal with a non-flashing X. The X will disappear or indeed change to a G (G-regime) when the tunnel is save to drive through for the freight train.

How long did it take to build the new underground station in Delft? Were the tracks moved to the campus? Does the small station Delft Zuid still exist? I left Delft 15 years geleden. Thank you, beautiful movie.
Thanks! 😁😁 Delft station is not fully ready for use. So still work in progress. The old Delft station was located more to the right seen from the train. Delft Zuid is now Delft Campus. Same station. 😁😁

- I think some of the water will need to make room for it. But in that case the water will just be moved a little bit I guess.
- Don't know what you exactly mean with your second question. If you mean if anyone minds if the train runs a little late. That depends on if you need to get your connecting train somewhere on the route. If you have a two minute transfer to the other side of the platform, a two minute delay is very annoying of course.
- Haha, I'm not always on time. About 94% I was on time in 2022. Can't always be on time. Sometimes delays occur.

I guess you control your speed 100% in relation to the speed times you are given?
Almost correct! We run our trains on a train schedule (times mentioned in the video). When on time we can let the train roll out when we are about 5-15km ahead of the station. Depending in the train schedule of course. When we're behind on schedule we drive our train as much as possible on the maximum allowed speed (if possible).
ik ben benieuwd hoelang nog gaat duren van de goedgekeurde ICNG die op kopspoor staat alleen de rest moet eerst terug :( dus ben benieuwd hoop voorjaar toch wel te zien gebruiken ish anders planning wel heel erg knoppen

Dankjewel voor de leuke video, 1 vraagje ik zag in het begin van de video dat de trein uit 7 bakken bestaat, daarna zag ik u meestal stoppen tussen 4 en 6. Hoe weet u dan dat de hele trein op het perron staat?
Ha Fabian! Goed opgemerkt. Met zeven bakken ICM (DDZ of VIRM (bij wijze van spreken)) zouden we dan idd bij de 7, of tussen de 6 en de 8 stoppen). Daar zijn die treinlengteborden ook op gebaseerd. SNG, SLT, FLIRT en ICNG hebben kortere bakken en daar gelden andere lengtes voor. Dus een SNG-7 komt overeen met een ICM/DDZ/VIRM 5. 😁

Tjah, die had gewoon op tijd moeten komen. We waren al drie minuten te laat. We kunnen niet reizigers nog meer vertragen om één reiziger die niet op tijd bij de trein was.

Denk dat de andere 400 reizigers aan boord daar heel anders over denken. Die hebben redelijk op tijd Den Haag HS, Moerwijk, Rijswijk, Delft, Campus en Schiedam behaald door niet nog op die ene persoon te wachten. Dat we moesten wachten bij Rotterdam kan ik verder ook niets aan doen. 🤣

Ja leuk om dat oude deel van de stad nog te zien. En idd, veel beter deze situatie vergeleken met het oude spoorviaduct dwars door de stad. :)
