Corey getting infinite mana and then somehow managing to the messiest route to victory is... actually pretty classic Corey now that I think about it.
Awesome win when his easy win route was in graveyard. The deck is like building a puzzle!
👀👀👀 fascinating!
"Can't counter it. It's coming off suspend."
"You can MOST certainly counter a suspend card."
"Shhh."
Jeremy had LED, underworld breach, and a mystical tutor to go get brain freeze. Then, instead of winning, he emptied his hand to play his commander?!
They did say butcher... but what they meant was absolutely massacre xD
Next time on Commander - Jon, Stephen and Jeremy all play counter/burn decks and go after just Corey.
Disagree! 😂
I just came back because my brain put together that Jeremy had LED and underworld breach. He was a brain freeze away from going infinite with his opener.
I actually thought he was going for it. He also had mystical tutor so he could've actually gotten the brain freeze.
"Wow this episode is short" *reads the title* "oh...oh, that makes sense."
the video I've been waiting for! thank you for stepping into the cedh realm for a video!
Thank you guys for playing some competitive EDH. I love this kind of content!
We made a whoopsie episode: czcams.com/video/L1rAp1MzNAA/video.html
nice
This is like textbook cEDH. Sure you're all playing some of the most competitive decks, but you're also all just having fun and banter and showing it's not all cut throat. Don't normally watch this series but I love cEDH and just had to see how it shaped up. What a fantastic game! Hoping to see more cEDH content from y'all soon!
Uhm I'm sure ONE person was having fun.
I had put off being a cEDH player for the longest time until getting into high power games this year. I can now understand the appeal of it. I still prefer games with cards that have less monetary value and more unique interactions but sometimes I just want to play the good stuff too
The good thing is that most cEDH pods are proxy friendly so the actual monetary value of the deck is whatever it costs you to print it from your local library or print store and some basics to put behind them. Highly recommend proxying a deck before investing in it, even in more casual tables.
@@halbarad69 well that cost would be zero because I don’t have one lol. But I do thank places like Moxxfield and Archidekt that lets playtesting possible
I love that you guys are trying CEDH! Wanna see mooooooorrrre high power!!!!
34:00 while i don't think it will matter at all, stephen can cast that utopia sprawl here, deafening silence only says noncreature spells
The game would have been different if Steven sacrificed Ranger captain before red Elemental blast
Finally, y’all have been alluding to it for a while
Really enjoyed this episode!
Jeremy having LED, mystical tutor and breach in hand, even if it‘s the backup combo in Pako u defo should go for the brainfreeze comb
cEDH let's go!!! Pumped to see y'all playing some comp again!
Cory was so giddy this episode, starting with the Polymorph play. This is why we love commander.
I mean, playing Urza cEDH makes me pretty giddy to. I totally understand how he feels
I want a cat tribes episode where everyone has a cat general.
Maybe not all cats but an "uncommon tribes" episode would be cool
@@narfidy444 better yet, “normal tribes” only normal creatures, bears, rats, birds, etc.
So Corey had the win turn 3 and just didn't bother to play it?
Ranger would have prevented it, although I don't think Corey knew that.
Corey’s been trying to play cedh every week anyways
Was hoping you would play a cEDH round. Loved the counter battle. Was really hoping to see Rocco combo out. We need more of these games.
I just watched a video of you guys trying to play cEDH from 2015. It's almost impressive that you haven't gotten any better at the format in 9 years.
Love to see it!
Corey could've won the game before Jon played Rest in Peace but he didn't know what he was doing
I think he could've won the tur. He played Polymorph no? Play ponder, bounce crypt, bounce mox making mana then play entire deck...into Jace I believe
@@commanderpower99 yes
@@RollieB89 nope. Mox diamond requires you to pitch a land or sacrifice it. It wouldn't be infinite because the mox would die before he could cast crypt to bounce it again.
@@Crabalien interesting 🤔
Am I crazy or couldn't Urza have just won @17:00 by bouncing his own mana crypt, going infinite, and playing his whole deck.
I thought so too, but the Mox Diamond that he would need to loop it with requires him to discard a land to play it.
With nothing from his opponents that's how the deck works but Stephen had a Ranger Captain on board that he could've just sacrificed to stop Corey from casting anything but instants, which probably doesn't get him anywhere too useful
Can someone explain the point system that theyre using this season? Its been awhile since i last watched and they dont display the rules on screen anymore. Thanks in advance!
Temur Pirates is my high-power deck, it's Malcolm Keen-eyed Navigator and Tana the bloodsower. it's called Temur Pirates because you only play Malcolm. Tana is just there to add colours to your deck, she does nothing. the deck aims to tutor up Glint-horn buccaneer and combo for the win and with green in the deck you have so many tutors to find it. this is the deck I turned the locust god deck I submitted for the fan episode into.
My version is only high power, it doesn't have mox diamond in it like the cEDH version does, but its still very fast and can win on turn 2.
in a "real" cEDH game, there is usually more interaction than this, although Steven made a valiant attempt, so fair play.
i'm a bit confused, how was winota played turn two? she's 4 mana, he had two lands (turn one turn two) + gemstone caverns = 3 mana, where did the forth mana come from? was there a simian spirit guide exiled that I missed?
yeah, he exiles a simian spirit guide
Finally lol..john got my hopes up, can u play ardenn and son of kolbolt equipment in cedh?
Screaming non creature spell at the defening silence
Take a shot every time Corey says, "Ummmm."
I see your "blue steel" Stephen Green, and I like it
Where can I find the points rules so I can use on my play group?
Johnatan Suares been using Sunbaked Canyon for R/W without taking 1 damage should be illegal move.
When I saw the Polymorph come out I was like "gg" and then he bounces the pako and as an Urza player I cried a bit on the inside. Using polymorph and not being able to go infinite hurt my soul. For anyone wondering how this is done. You get Horror on the field, cast any spell, return a 0 cost mana rock to your hand, re cast is, bring another 0 cost artifact to hand but before it goes to hand tap it to float mana through Urza. You now have inf. blue mana can use Urza to go through all of your deck until you hit a winning piece, (Codex Shredder for me) and mill out your opponents. You can also use 1 cost artifacts to just bounce EVERYTHING your opponents have lands and all.
The ranger captain was played the literal turn before polymorph, he never could have won that turn.
@@proggyboi972 also Mox Daimond can't combo, you need lands to discard or it is sacrificed.
This is the best episode purely because the talk of Braden
Before I watch: Everyone plays Blue
Corey has Urza: UUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I am surprised Jeremy is not playing Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy
Would of made way more sense, and would of been way easier for him to pilot, seeing as he through away the win in order to cast his commander
This was an absolute mess lol. The banter makes this episode amazing tho!
Saw Winota and started drooling. My absolute favorite cEDH deck!!!!!
How does she do in cedh?
@@bigmacmm5 In my opinion she's the most fun of the stax decks while also being insanely strong. She gets to turn the men sideways and cheat through rule of law, which is super fun, especially when you slam things like RIck for surprise lethal. She also wins through spinning into moggcatcher -> kikki+ combat celebrant, or similar lines. It's quite fun. Currently I'm playing Jetmir, Nexus of Revels, which plays like Winota + green. Quite a fun deck, and if you play a bit slow you can even bring it to a high-power cedh table and not be completely overbearing. It's great to have in paper if you jump around in pods alot and can play high power up to cedh.
What sleeves do they use ??
quick tip for you guys. love the gameplay, the banter carries the slow shuffling lol. but your lighting is too bright behind the camera. lower that brightness, or add a hot spot like an led bar on the wall.
the lighting is unflattering to yall (im being extremely nice). yall arent ugly, but your lighting is trying to convince me.
you could also try altering color combos, but thats a whole debugging processs. one or two cold white light bulbs would help as well
I understand the issue of the cards on table (you need great lights for them to be visable), but you can literally fix it in post. you already add the animations. if things look blurry, just do a quick image of the card (like you already do).
your people are the draw, play into that with good lighting
If Corey had Jace weirder of mysteries in his deck, he could just exile his library with the infinite mana and then cast and activate for the win
That would be a good addition. Good call!
Jace/thassa/lab man leads to an easier to explain win but isn't really necessary. He presented an infinite twister loop without even realizing it when he exiled urza to get another construct. He could repeat that infinite times while sculpting his hand to whatever he wants before passing. Cedh really cares about card quality and jace or thassa or lab man would all be "dead" cards in hand if you weren't actively trying to win. Keeping with that mindset it would be better to run an interactive piece, or protection, or another stax piece. A little redundancy is good but you have to balance it with card quality. Anyone else is welcome to throw in their 2 cents. Its not a solved format and any discussion is welcome.
I loved seeing you guys play cedh. I hope you bring it back again sometime.
@@themuaythaiguy I said Jace specifically because he's playing the polymorph version of urza, which wouldn't play the others in fear of hitting them instead of hullbreaker horror, or in the older versions, tidespout tyrant. I just felt the one card slot in the event of reaching infinite mana (which urza is bound to do) is nice to have a nice, linear alternate win con.
@@jonlamoreaux1889 did you read what they said? I've beet piloting the deck fir years, and I can tell you, jace is just bad in the list. Its a winconles control list, it doesn't need specific cards to "win the game" because most of the cards can be looped or you can just loop urza and make robots and doink people. All with out dead draws lmao
@@chancebates8041 you're right, watching Corey try to slowly figure out a win was way better than a straight linear path to victory. Any combo piece is a dead draw without the other half... Just because you choose to pilot a "winconless" urZa list, doesn't mean that other, more linear urza lists exist.
You guys should play more cedh games
would love to see scion of the UR dragon (2 colorless search for a dragon and become it) it has some very fun triggers while being very competitive in some cEDH
Do you guys post your lists ?
Does a fan request deck take priority if you are cosplaying as a Skrull while presenting it in scroll form?
“cEDH is sick” he giggles, as he passes the turn with the win on board lol
Hm, I’m surprised Jeremy was able to sit in that chair with balls that big after pulling that lions eye diamond play.
Suicide black embodied edited for spelling
Especially since that hand would have won the game on turn 2
@@sbcguitarist absolutely, but he left not interaction to protect it. He has to pray that three other players, including a urza deck that was popping off, didn’t have anything. And guess what. They did.
You should probably read Deafening Silence, one Noncreature spell. Three people pointing at the card telling Stephen like he is a child when all three were wrong. 33:35
Are you guys going to release modern vids soon?
“I got winter orb and static orb.. so I dunno” lol
Stephen keeping that hand is so bad its hilarious, just mulligan my guy.
@24:23 Urza could have won right there lol, by sinking the infinite mana into Urza's ability. Oh well, still fun to see you guys partake in cEDH!
And Jeremy could of won when he had underworld breach and lion's eye diamond in his hand, but he threw it away to cast his commander...
Still nobody cares. I used to comment bad plays and breaking the rules, but never got any answer from the KINGS. Its funny that i can get a response in Command Zone with bazilion comments, and not here :-) Also LED is not ritual card but a combo card ... guess Jeremy didnt read the manual.
Steven made it so he couldn’t cast non-creature spells… which is his whole deck. His whole deck would be in exile.
Is there a way to send you guys stuff like decklists or episode memes for the schmucks that dont have twitter?
Asking for a friend, the friend is me.
Didn't watch commanderVS for a few years , who are the 2 new guys?
We're does Stephen get his shirts?
Wow a Lions Eye Diamond Jeremy throws down. That’s not a cheap card!
Finnaly!!!
Surprised Jeremy didn't just hold the Mystical Tutor to threaten a turn 3 win.
I run Jace, weilder of mysteries, lab man and leveler in my Urza deck. Got that win 2x now
This episode didn't appear in my subscriptions for some reason
Okay, I don’t know much about CEDH but I’m confused why Jeremy played out Pako when he did. He (seemed to) only have two mana available after playing Pako, and you can’t cast the spells Pako exiles unless you also have Haldan in play. Was Jeremy’s plan to just hope he drew a land next turn to maybe start playing the following turn?
I feel like I might be missing something cause that seems like the wrong play
its just a throw, he saw a play and, despite how little sense it makes, wanted to make that play.
I have not seen the game yet, but as a commited cEDH player I've never been more excited to see these guys play a game
LET'S GOOOOO
Finally :))
Can't wait for them to gang up on Corey in the next episode, just a bunch of counter magic in as many colors as possible, tibalt's trickery, mana tithe, etc,.
was I the only one expecting for them to play uncards with cedh commanders. like the unset troll they did
Jeremy should have played underworld with lions eye to get infinite mana
well he could've gotten brain freeze off the mystic tutor. played breach. played led and then started the freeze combo. but maybe it would've taken another turn? idk. I don't play cedh lol
If he had mystic tutor in hand he could have searched for brain freeze on endstep. Gone to his turn 2, played breach, led, cracked it for 3 blue discarding brain freeze, casting with the floating mana, all while having just enough cards to pay the escape cost. Then start the infinite combo. However, if mystical tutor wasn't in his hand that wouldn't have worked, also there were a lot of counterspells floating around the table so it may not haven gotten that far. But he seemingly had a turn 2 win in his pocket lol.
@@themuaythaiguy He did pitch mystic tutor, but rather if he had it in opening hand or just drew it. Regardless what u said is better and almost technically "safer" as they needed counterspell compared to the millions of removal to his commander.
@@shawnaustin1037 These decks probably play more counters than removal, but it is still better because playing the breach combo actually attempts a win that turn while playing his commander doesn't even have a chance at winning for like 6 more turns even if no one blocks.
You are wrong Corey. It's "Where there's a will, there's an inheritance." :)
Cory had so many chances to win! I mean he still won, but hullbreaker horror can bounce spells to hand too.
As an urza player, I'm aghast at the 'I'm not going to win with my casual infinite mana'
The music is messing with the audio
I love cEDH with all of my heart and Rocco is my pet deck that I've been grinding and perfecting since SNC dropped. That being said, Stephen's decklist sucks and he kept a hand that was too reactive. I don't blame him as I'm sure he doesn't have many reps with it, but if you're gunna play Rocco, you need Food Chain lines in the deck and you gotta go for turbo Rocco lines if you don't have a winning line in your hand already. The deck is so good once you learn all the lines
I mean Winota is just like top three best cedh decks in the format. I’d say number 1 thrasios tymna, number 2 kenrith and 3 Winota. I personally don’t play any of those decks but they are very good
you cant play gemstone caverns pregame if you are going first no?
Led + Breach and mystical tutor for brain freeze 🥶
Watching that play hurt 🤕
Nothing compares to the power of the dark side. Also known as K'rrik...
I feel like Steven Green is yet to play a CEDH deck on a cedh episode
Rocco is one of the top cEDH lists at the moment IMO. It has easy one and two card wincons that can be tutored off the commander and really strong interaction like you saw here. Steven was definitely hurt by going last in order and I don't think the hand he kept was keepable since it seems like it didn't have any acceleration.
Really surprised Jeremy still hasn't played kinnan, it would of been perfect for this episode
So we’ve established the hullbreaker horror should have ended the game when it hit the board, right? Bounce the mana rocks repeatedly and make infinite mana and use Urza to play your mana entire deck? Or am I mistaken?
As soon as a rock gets targeted, Ranger-Captain is sac'd to silence replaying the rocks.
@@DualSwordBesken ahhhh good point
Corey could have bounced the mana crypt in response to casting grim monolith so then he would be able to continuously cast them making infinite colorless mana casting infinite spells and probably win
Defining silence is one noncreature spell
Came here to say this
Corey has the win on that hulbreaker turn haha
Well Steven could have cracked the ranger in response. I don't know if he saw it though.
Corey's turns taking longer than the other three's combined and it being the best call to team up on him
did I just describe this cEDH episode or the last weeks?
just kidding, always looking forward to these on Wednesdays
More cedh please love to see it I'm a sucker for combat damage wins , good luck hope more to come
Is Jon "I love to play Bennie Smith's decks" Suarez booing Jeremy for using someone else's deck?
plz do competitive more often :)) was really fun to watch
game ended on turn 3 at 17:15 but Corey misplayed, so it didnt xD
Edit: I was wrong, I thought the war room was a signet =(
That’s what I was thinking but to anyone interested his hullbreaker can bounce back and forth his two free mana rocks to produce infinite mana pumped into Urza and draw the deck. It’s okay though because if they are new to cedh they probably don’t know all the small interactions like that. Fun game none the less.
Bunch of noobs in the comments don’t understand how mox diamond works. Try reading the card
@@skykur pop off king!
Thankfully Braden moved away before that card came out. I love them, but would I have been pissed seeing Winota in our pods lmao.
Jeremy says he just went for it like 10 times in this game when he really just conceded by throwing away his turn 2 win....
LOL Corey had more game rule violations than mana
I hope everyone is either playing mono blue or 4c not blue
They are all so pressed😂
Still rooting for you Corey! It's hard to take on 3 others that are after you haha
What gets me is that Corey cyc rifted on a very unthreatening board
CEDH is fun, though Urza's deck is a monster when it comes to playing, it's very resilient, redundant and has too many answers, it's basically the arch enemy in most games, still, a fun game to watch, few small mistakes, like Deafening Silence only stops non-creature spells, so the Utopia Sprawl play was fine, but overall it didn't really matter, Urza was just too damn good.
