Presenting: Your choices of the button prompts that weirded you right out. Enjoy!
Does no one remember "Replace Head" from Eternal Darkness?
Outside Xtra ehh first comment
Button prompts in any one of “Tell Tale Games” games
The one I struggle with personally is the power button prompt. Fail that prompt and it makes work the "next" day quite a bit tougher.
And now we need to clone the Dodo bird, because Ellen want one for diner ... we have no choice now, i guess. Sooo, who took the cloning vats today?? We need it back asap :D
Playing heavy rain:
*Press K to be a responsible father*
*Looks at PS3 controller in confusion*
LMAO
Just flip the controller over and push all the buttons at once
I mean you can technically connect a keyboard to the USB port, so-
@@hapIess. i see u are a man of culture as well
@@unSeife team Mystic. Nice.
I accidentally missed the Leonardo hug prompt and felt so terrible that I immediately reloaded a previous save... I'm sorry Leonardo!!!
Me, going back and doing the entire slow tour of Florence again: You're Lucky I Love You Leo
Kassandra I mean...it was Venice, but I still feel you 100%
I did exactly this, Leo doesn’t deserve the kicked puppy look when you don’t hug him
Jamie M wtf same
I had to reload
I think The Stanley Parable has some great button prompts during the Apartment Ending, including my favorite:
_Please press '8' to spend time with the boys._
Dominic O'Loughlin I haven’t seen that ending, I’ll have to try it
also Press Y to kiss your wife
I was experiencing that game too be here!!
Witcher 3.
“Put the baby in the oven”
It makes sense in context
Ah yes, the botchling. Quite a sad quest, that.
Does it though?
@@thomashongshagen4912 - nope, that was a different one. I think this one was in Skellige.
@@thomashongshagen4912 that's the Hym quest on Skellige
@@ZlothZloth ah, I see. Haven't gotten quite there yet, and it's been some time since I played wild hunt, so I confused them. Thank you for correcting me
Another fun one is from Dark Souls 3: "Dunk Head in Wax".
cain Everything Dark Souls is good!
I'm still not totally sure what that does
It protects you from the curse bar filling, useful around those weird bookcases
@@lukeharrington2077 it stops the phantoms from attacking you from the books on the bookshelves and floor
"It's time to respectfully loot the corpse" needs to be a shirt.
Definitely ...need both a t-shirt and a hoody version.
That phrase is the definition of prey
Truly words to live by.
wear that for a funeral
I can't remember which game this was in but a character was giving off about despicable people looting corpses when I was literally in the middle of doing so, oops
"I wonder why L3 plus R3?"
*clicks buttons*
"Oh no..."
Nier: Automata in a nutshell
I can hear Oberyn Martell screaming
Anyone else notice that Jason had almost made it safely across the road if not for his father in an attempt to save him incidentally pushing them both right into the cars path?
"Jason, three for a pound" is something I'd expect to be shouted by a creepy clown.
My parents only got one. Two more Jasons would be better than my sister.
that or a robot terminator....
That was some creepily accurate foresight then, because that's what happens in this video...
I just love that the red dead 2 footage was clearly from Andy's Arthur. No one else would be so clean.
If you guys are doing another one:
Risk of Rain 2: "Press E to obliterate yourself from existence." Seriously wtf moment first time it happens.
"Press e to leave the planet"
HAHA PROVIDENCE EAT ROCKET
@@williamwhitehouse8741 My rockets have rockets! fall before their might!
*jackhammers E button*
*players want way to get more lunar coins*
*literally get told to kill themselves*
Classic.
One of gaming's most greatest buttom prompts.
"Shut wyzen up!" This prompt is from asura's wrath, in which the badguy goves you a lengthy speech and you have to option to go "Ain't nobody got time for that." and shut him up.
Me: Rolls eyes that I have to hit “Skip Ad” yet again.
Outside Xtra: Makes a “Skip Ad” joke in the first 10 seconds.
Love this team! Especially all the dad puns! 😂
Jay Krause CZcams premium, homie. No ad rolls, ever, on any videos.
@@NickC_222 CZcams Vanced, homie. I don't have to pay for yet another shilly subscription and yet haven't seen an ad in a solid year now.
Can’t remember if it was covered in a previous video, but I always liked “Press R1 to Even the Odds” in Arkham Knight
Yeah it was
WITCHER 3: "PUT THE BABY IN THE OVEN."
GERALT/ME: ok.
And still no Detroit Become Human "press X to give up." i still havent recovered.
???
I remember that now! Honestly it’s shocking that they haven’t done a part 3 yet!
"Press button to undress Alice" traumatized me. Then again, a lot of Detroit Become Human traumatized me.
Even worse than that, though not technically a button prompt, obeying todd when he's angry and not moving as Kara. I wanted to see what would happen and it was harrowing
Bleh, lots of Detroit button prompts can be really scary 😅🙃
Great game though.
It hit hard when the abusive father was yelling at his daughter then snapped out of it and realized what he was doing and cried in her arms.
i have been through that as the father. My step dad treated me like shit for 15yrs of my childhood, and at times i was like that dad to friends who are still close to me. luckily i had friends who didn't give up on me. Now I'm married to a Goddess of a woman who for some reason settled for me, but man watching that scene made me turn off the game in tears...
*press button to alice*
Assassin's Creed lore is weird?! How much did the Templars pay you Luke?!
They promised him a turn in the animus to relive his relative, Marvin Westaway...He was a flamingo farmer.
The GODDAMN TRAITOR!
Someone must have infiltrated his mind and swapped weird and awesome.
Hey, everything is permitted. (shrug)
Guys we found another one
Borderlands 2 Wedding day dlc has some good ones.
Pick up baby(kidnap)
Drop baby(into whiskey distillery)
Make baby cry
Return baby
And also: Take wig
Oh, wow. I never even knew you could screw up the hug with Leonardo. I just never hesitated to hug my best friend.
Weirdest OX button prompts: Press the Like button to send Andy to Disneyland AGAIN/ sponsor Mike in a 24 hour Le Mans run/ donate to Jane's world domination/ pay for Luke's opera lessons/ buy Ellen a cat!
Press X to bad pun
Buying Ellen more cats isn’t a joke. It’s a serious epidemic that needs to be rectified. How else would Jane have the numbers she needs for her army?
don't forget the Mike button
DerekBarns X-cellent
Hit X for funny pun
Hit X for bad pun
Hit X for smart pun
Hit X for good pun
In Mass Effect you could annoy a scientist by pushing a button excessively on a Salarian machine....it turns out to be a faeces analyser 🤣
I was thinking ALL those random ass good guy or bad guy prompts. Especially the ones you just get a sec or 2 to press
Shepard: *I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR DISINGENUOUS ASSERTIONS* (Brutally punches reporter)
@@mckennamiller3428 The best one
@@mckennamiller3428 HOW ABOUT GOODBYE
the game is probably far too niche to be featured on here but nothing beats the bewilderment I felt when Abenteuer auf dem Reiterhof 7 (Adventures on the horse ranch 7) told me to "birth horse". Not assist a horse birth, I was supposed to birth the darn thing myself!
XD
New to the list of weird button prompts, in Kingdom Hearts 3 you press ∆ to Sora
Spamming triangle during the Xemnas fight
TBH, that is just like the entire series in a nutshell
That game is full of strange button prompts, like triangle to mad tea cups or that part where you use random usernames from another game as attacks.
Tru
I quite like when you’re told “Press Triangle to Sample Blood” in Detroit: Become Human. Very off-putting the first time this happens
8:51 You didn't miss much Ellen. By all accounts Dodos tasted bad. They've been described as "Odious", "loathesome" and "foul" birds. Their meat has been described as greasy and even bitter. I'm just going to quote Wikipedia here:
_One of the original names for the dodo was the Dutch "Walghvogel", first used in the journal of Dutch Vice Admiral Wybrand van Warwijck, who visited Mauritius during the Second Dutch Expedition to Indonesia in 1598.[22] Walghe means "tasteless", "insipid", or "sickly", and vogel means "bird". The name was translated by Jakob Friedlib into German as Walchstök or Walchvögel.[23] The original Dutch report titled Waarachtige Beschryving was lost, but the English translation survived_
Of course I'm sure Andy or Luke could have told you that already, pretty sure I've said it myself a few times under different videos even, and it was just said for a joke. But for anybody else who was curious, no they were not delicious.
I'm German and I have never ever heard "Walchvogel" before. Sometimes one gets to know the weirdest words of their own language that aren't used anymore through completely random sources.
We just use "Dodo" now.
They probably didn't put enough butter in
Just a fun fact that exchanging business cards in Japan is still a very important part of every business interaction even today, so I found that to be the least weird prompt to show up on this list.
Ellen I love your ever-changing hair.
Press A to change hair.
Press X to doubt.
@@420sakura1 underrated
Everyday is Casual Friday to Luke. Flamingos never say die, and they also never overdress.
Jennifer Valentine But I want that hoodie he’s wearing. Looks so comfy.
I mean, have YOU ever SEEN a flamingo wearing a suit?
LMixir That depends on if Luke in a suit standing on one leg counts.
Wait... no, I still haven’t.
Actually laughing out loud at “other gym sayings I don’t go to the gym”
"Press ZL to turn into a squid!"
Splatoon says something like that right? I mean yes it's kind of expected given the game makes no effort to hide it but it's amusing to read.
Sounds better if you say it as "press ZL to squid"
Trying to press the right button combo for a fatality in the MK franchise. I am NEVER ready.
One that caught me by surprise growing up was pressing triangle to pee in Rockstar's Bully.
I dont want to pee in anyones bully. Not even rockstars
There’s one that isn’t particularly weird, but a true classic nonetheless: PRESS F TO PAY RESPECTS
Was on the previous video
What about the old button promt in Halo 3 "Hold X to flip Elephant...wait...what...how did you do that?" Or something along those lines
You can get an Elephant on it’s back?!
Love that they left Ellen forgetting the second video title in and how Luke jumped up to save the day.
All I'm saying is some hero's don't wear capes. 👍
Ellen and Luke make such a great team.
Bat-Ellen and Luke-Robin to the rescue! :D
@@kallasantysanty6092 Luke: "QUICK, to the Bat Cave!"
Ellen: "You mean the video mines, right?"
😂
@@maxvel0city906 To the Elleningmobile we need to confuse the badguy :P
*Heroes
Ellen clearly missed the button prompt for the second video title XD
Another memorable one, from Telltales (press F for respect):
In The Wolf Among Us, you can "glass him"
I think they had that one under an "unexpected results" video or something. Because they were expecting to buy him a drink or something.
Arkham Origins when you have to “Shock Alfred” You also have to do it to Bane later in the game, but there was just something so unsettling about doing it to a precious old man
That scene from Assassin's Creed 2 is one of my favourite inspired moments from the whole series. It built my affection with the father character faster than anything else they could've done, and it's not every day they manage to make a heroic childbirth scene work tastefully in an action game.
Nothing gets me pushing to the limit like "Other gym sayings!"
When I saw the thumbnail I immediately imagined getting a button prompt to yeet baby ezio across the room 😂
Finish middle school first
press X to touchdown dance.
How old are you
I literally thought
"X: Yeet Baby"
During the final boss fight of Asura's Wrath, you are prompted to press the attack button so many times that it floods the screen and it's difficult to see anything else.
That "press L1 to time travel" thing would actually make a pretty fun action game on its own. You'd have to think in two different times at once, and consider how to make the future easier by moving something in the past: for example, moving this potted plant to the right place will allow you to climb its vines in the future.
All bosses in Asura's Wrath, you could skip boss monologues with a button prompt to "shut them up."
Batman: Arkham Asylum - use the center stick to dodge Joker's gunshot.
What, you don't have an n64 controller for such an occasion?
@@Sophie_the_Sapphic of course but my n64 controller doesn't work with my ps3
@@mikecabral2420 excuses
Mike Cabral MacGuyver is disappointed in you right now.
I always thought an N64 port would work here.
The dad took the brunt of the car hit. Jason should've been mostly fine, unless it kept going and twisted his neck or squished his head or something.
In Deadpool, after you wreck the XJet, you get a prompt to “press X to slap Wolverine”. And it’s as wonderful as it sounds
Oh god I keep trying to forget about that super weird start as baby Ezio in AC2. And now the nightmares come flooding back...
Well, at least the camera stayed comfortably third person, imagine experiencing that scene from a first-person perspective?
*remembers the birthing section from Sonic Dreams Collection*
*doesn't feel like sleeping for the next week*
What if the clown in Heavy Rain was Pennywise's new disguise, and that was his new method of killing children? I mean, it clearly worked
Or worse, John Wayne Gacy.
Press X to float too.
Hehe, "IT clearly worked"
Hmm... and he feeds off the fear the parent/guardian feels looking for the child? I could see that.
Frodo can i have the ring back
Okay, the dodo joke caught me off guard. 🤣 excellent delivery, too.
"That's not an unspoken rule. We've spoken to you about it. Several times." Is this why these videos are always shot from the waist up?
Andy is clearly still on holiday if Red Dead and Yakuza 0 can be mentioned without him.
Steve The Turret they often appear in each other’s videos though. Heck, Mike is in this video.
Is it wrong that I ended up rolling my eyes a little when Mike was putting the wrong emPHAsis on the wrong syLAble of Oda's name?
@@Mobius08 Nope. People who speak English as their first language always screw up foreign names.
These are great! I really love the ‘Commenter’ videos. I like how you make them fresh and funny even though you’ve not come up with them first hand 👌 Much love
“Whoever made God of War III is a sadist!” Have you met David Jaffe?
Ellen forgetting her line at the end was absolutely adorable and just made the video that much better. Saving it on a playlist.
Who remembers the curl up like a ball button prompt in Dark Souls I?
I think that was in the first video
Still no press x to dip head in wax though
@Abe it was to keep the arms from cursing you
@Abe also fashion
@@hw7522 My original comment feels so ignored by OXtra :(
RDR2 Horse birthing. Thankfully it wasn't quite as viscerally visually as the skinning cut scene.
Skinning in 2 is *slightly* less disturbing because Arthur doesn't have John macabre sense of humor.
It was a calf, but yeah 😅
Press X to Jason? Nah, I think you mean
*PRESS X TO SHAAAAUUUUNNN*
Hot take: The clown is 47 from a Mike playthrough.
What? Too obvious?
47 saying my name is going to haunt my nightmares
I'm gonna rock this suggestion again. What about Indigo Prophecy's play Simon Says to not Die?
Skip add TWICE
Or not being able to skip an add in a video game like nba
Oh no... *THE APOCALYPSE IS SPREADING!*
CZcams is doing this without us creators' permissions and we can't turn it off.
Actually, if you notice after blinding Poseidon, Kratos snaps his neck. THAT'S what kills him, not the blinding.
Isaac Gleeth It is true that eye-gouging is not directly, immediately fatal. Infections, on the other hand, can be, but they take much longer to kill than a good old fashioned neck snappin'.
@@NickC_222 if gods could catch infection Zeus would have died of AIDS long ago
Well, it's very nice of Kratos to make it so you don't have to watch him snap your neck.
I'm glad Titanfall 2 made this list. When I hit that point, my actual reaction was an audible " Press L1 to do *what now?* "
"Press A to pound." The situation seemed a bit... awkward for Captain Mallow's trial for summoning the Totem Pokemon.
-Pokemon Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon.
Gamefreak for sure knows their fan base for both good and bad reasons
"Press several buttons to get new OXtra video" is one weird prompt but a great deal ;)
"parkour marty mcfly" -- brilliant!
"Clowns are the most frightening sight in the world", funny hearing that from a guy with natural clown hair
A relatively new one: press X to exchange hearts (Pathologic 2)
Okay if I find Half a previous visitor with a weird wristband, I guarantee I would NOT put the thing on. The guy was cut in half! The buttons might as well say, put this on if you want to drop half your weight. Not I repeat Not a smart move.
Lucky for him he turned out more badass then it's previous owner.
I wouldn't say it's something you wouldn't have seen coming but it's strange and a bit sad:
Pressing a button to blow a party horn at Claptrap's party in borderlands 2
LB to time travel was actually one of the coolest FPS moments I've personally experienced. The whole campaign was fun, but getting to freak out the soldiers who thought you had some super advanced cloaking tech was hilarious.
That mechanic would be awesome in a game (like the whole game) of course you would have to put in some enemies who could do the same to make it a little bit more of a challenge at times.
During the Paul Revere's ride mission in AC3, you have a button prompt to ask Paul for directions. Which makes me wonder why Connor decided to take the reins.
Whenever I pick Jason in MKX I say “JA-son”. I don’t use my mic so nobody gets to hear my fantastic voice acting.
Press "A" to do advanced math. Beyond 2 souls. Just like that.
I actually did mess up the hug with Leonardo da Vinci in AC2 and I have felt bad about it ever since. Luckily in the replay I did hug him and it felt so good!
I always liked the press X to Shut Wyzen Up (Asura's wrath)
I got a good laugh out of mashing the Jason prompt, it sounded more like Ethan trying to remember his son's name than calling out to him!!
I'm playing Heavy Rain at the moment, this game is really just a weird button prompt simulator. I'm both curious and worried what comes next.
The "jump to speak" thing is kinda funny when you realize a lot of people jump as a form of non verbal communication in many games 😂
Ever met up with a friend in a game and jumped when you saw them? Lol
In Super Mario RPG, whenever Mario is asked to prove his identity, the correct response is to jump.
the portal 2 "look at the roof, look at the floor" is a clever way to register peoples control inversion preferences.
Ellen: "Skip Ad"
CZcams: *makes Ad appear*
Me: "Seriously?" :|
Though, throwing a head was how I killed a vampire in D&D.
Well that is step 1, what about steps 2-10?
How the blood soaked protestant hell did you do that?
Me learning the controller mapping of Assassins Creed buttons having mostly played it on the PC (especially recently): "OHHH THAT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE!!!"
"Other gym sayings. I don't go to the gym" basically me in any conversation to do with fitness 😂
Love the idea that OX has casual fridays given that Mike has worn a pizza shirt for the past 3 videos I've watched, don't know how you get more casual than that
He could be wearing an actual pizza.
Any game that requires me to interact always shocks me. I came to games to get away from interacting with other creatures!
I'm fine with the interaction is exchanging lead or arrows via a reticule.
I would've never noticed that pressing the sticks mimics the physical motion of eye gouging. Thanks, GoW 3!
I loved that L3 + R3 God of War prompt! It was so brutal and almost simulated the action itself!
Not gonna lie, when I saw the thumbnail my first thought was "throw baby"
The Mighty Swash at least you’re honest.
What about "dip head in wax" in dark souls 3?
I find it kinda silly in “Dying Light,” when you’re prompted to drink from a fountain. You proceed to whip out a coffee mug (from who knows where), scoop it in the fountain, and take a selfie of you holding the newly-filled mug, before drinking.
Portal 2's "Speak" made me laugh my head off.
Titanfall 2 is also a game that let's you live the dream of having Matt Mercer's voice.
All the button prompts during that torture scene in GTA 5. I nearly quit the game.
That ending, true professionals at work!
Kidding, love you guys! :D
For a moment, I thought the joke about the prompt in Portal 2 was you were told to press "Space" even if you were playing a console version.
Have you guys not seen Mike’s wardrobe? Every day is casual Friday for Mike.
His wardrobe is made of 100 shades of grey on either T-shirt’s or hoodies.
Sorry Mike but the saying is dress FOR the weather. Not LIKE the weather.
Do: which hardcore mode wasn't actually that hard.
Like the "insanity" mode in Far Cry 3 which was as hardcore as a wet toast
Like how the Maw was the first Halo CE level I finished on Legendary and one of the levels in 2 is just a cutscene.
Dragon Age: Origins, where, if you skill your characters somewhat decently, the game is a walk in the park (excluding a fight you're not supposed to win anyways, which is still completely doable though if you know what you're doing)
I remember playing Final Fantasy VII (7) ... there was a way to remap the O and X buttons in the menu (so that X is accept and O is cancel) ... well! that works excellent until you have to do a complex button combination to stop a out of control train, and the prompts don't get updated with the new buttons!
Another classic from Heavy Rain button prompt would be: *X* SHAAAUUUUN!!! As well as the ever awkward glitch that accompanies it.
But seriously, my favorite strange button prompt would have to be from Sonic Unleashed, where, during the Dark Gaia boss fight, all of a sudden it wants you to press the X button (or Square on PlayStation) 60 times. I certainly lost a life the first time.
