  • To crop a video in Blender, you can use the Video Editing workspace and the built-in Video Sequence Editor (VSE) functionality. Here's a step-by-step guide:
    Import the Video:
Open Blender and change to the Video Editing workspace by selecting it from the top menu bar (default layout).
Click on "Add" - "Movie" or simply press Shift + A and choose "Movie" to import your video footage.
    Add Video Strip to Timeline:
In the Video Editing workspace, you'll see the Video Sequence Editor (VSE) where you can arrange your video clips. Ensure you have the video strip selected.
Set the Start and End Points:
Select the video strip by clicking on it, then press "N" to open the right-side panel (N-panel) if it's not already visible.
In the N-panel, find the "Strip Input" section.
Under "Strip Input," locate the "Start Frame" and "End Frame" options.
Set the "Start Frame" to the frame where you want the cropped video to begin, and the "End Frame" to the frame where you want the cropped video to end.
    Adjust the Crop Region:
Still in the N-panel, locate the "Crop" section.
You can use the sliders for "Top," "Bottom," "Left," and "Right" to crop the video. Alternatively, you can click and drag the values to set the desired crop region visually.
    Preview the Result:
To see the result of your cropping, you can play the video in the Preview window (located at the top-right or press Shift + F11).
    Render the Cropped Video:
Once you are satisfied with the cropping, you can render the cropped video by going to "File" - "Render" or pressing F12.
Choose the desired output settings in the Render settings tab on the right-side panel. You can set the output format, resolution, frame rate, etc.
Click "Render Animation" or "Render Image" depending on your needs.
Remember to save your project before rendering to avoid losing any work.
Keep in mind that cropping will remove the sections of the video outside the defined region, so make sure to set the start and end points appropriately to keep the desired content. If you want to keep the original video intact, it's a good idea to make a copy of the video strip and work with the copy for cropping.

It still renders with the black borders where it was cropped. How do I get it where the dimensions of the video are ONLY the cropped portions, without the borders?

@@Quick_IT I would like to remove the black bars without stretching the video, as stretching looks terrible in my case. I found that I can adjust the resolution of my output to crop out the black bars. I could've sworn I tried that before but it didn't work; maybe that was an old version of Blender.

@@Quick_IT something like borders are not supported.. so I end up with black background and just the crop image shows up. I was hoping to reduce the video size to the important part to send it in email attachment.
