- If your 2005-2009 Land Rover LR3 or 2006-2009 Range Rover Sport air suspension is giving you trouble, it may be worth considering a coil spring conversion. This is a video of swapping out the factory land rover air suspension with standard coil springs from suncore. There are a few kits on the market but this is the cheapest one that seemed solid to me.

For those saying don’t do this, they haven’t experienced the real problems yet!
Done the coil conversion, best thing I've done.. running pacers and the HD +2" KIT.. Great offroad!!
Great video! And good on you for keeping the old girl going
I have done the same with the Dunlop kit from UK, rides great, no regrets, much smoother than air suspension by the way.
And if you want to move forward you can install incredible shocks and springs and make the car ride even better, much sportier and at the same time soft.
Congrats with the right choice!!
Go with the coils 👍
Very informative 😊
I have a 2.7 air suspension been being a prick for a while I’ve got 22s on the only ones I can find are the v8 ones my pal said will be best off standard size might catch wheels
I've had this kit for a few months, and I just put on 30mm spacers and 275/65 R18's on (32'S), which to be honest is probably too big with this kit, getting some annoying rubbing just turning hard, I should have got the 285/60 R18, they come out to about 31.5 inches, i think the tread on my wranglers is so rugged its hitting
Thanks Good 👍 job
Super merci.
I have that same vehicle year 2008 v8 gasoline, which one does it have, can I buy the shock absorbers?
I wish you could do mine!
Thank you for your commentary. I am entertaining the thought of getting rid of my airbags. The rarest keep on lowering I only have 75,000 miles on my 07 and I think that the previous owner already had the air suspension worked on. It's just one less thing, I would like to worry about breaking, I've been looking at the ones that are about $1000 and they have the clips or chips. Do you avoid the lights coming on? I deleted it in my Lexus GX 470 in my lights always come on.
As far as the lights and warnings some of mine stayed on until I ended up trading out that 06, but I think it just comes down to personal preference as I don't mind having warnings as long as I know something isn't actually wrong. That being said with this video getting far more traction than I expected I've been able to hear from a lot of people about their own land rovers and I've come to the conclusion that the warning lights you get are dependent on how your suspension failed and what parts you chose to remove and keep. If warning lights are an issue then the more expensive kit is probably the better move, especially with yours being lower mileage it probably deserves it haha.
Friend, how did you remove the errors?
I dont find for my l322 vogue 4.4 tdv8 2011..Maybe also for range rover sport are ok to fix
I've had no luck retaining the terrain modes, I pulled all the fuses and I just have the red suspension warning light, which is probably the problem, but if anyone has any tips or links on how to get my modes back I'd appreciate it, mines an 05 LR3
Hi
Where is your shop located? I am from Washington too.
I have an L320 RRS SC that has the dreaded adaptive suspension fault. No issues raising or lowering the vehicle, but one of the million and one possibilities has me leaning toward a conversion. I know that Atlantic British has a reflash for their coil conversion. That said, it's no comparison for maintenance between the two or out-of-pocket expense.
Do they ship to europe ?
👍
Gud machanics
How's the ride height ? Does it still sit lower in the front then the back like with the air bags or does it sit more level ?
I can't really say as my air suspension was sitting a little crooked side to side. But it seems to sit level unloaded, and with passengers and weight in the trunk the back sags just a touch.
Hi!!! Tks for your suggestion, hoje this vídeo could help People a round The world like me from Brazil....i did this conversou, but the suspension fault message still on, how could i erase that?
As far as I know the only way to get rid of the message is to install one of the bypass modules that some kits come with, personally the error message doesn't bother me so I leave it.
Have you taken it off road, and how efficient is it after the conversion?
Yes I have taken it offroad a little, and it did just fine. Not quite as smooth as the air ride but still very good.
I own a 2008 Discovery 3 SE V8 with air suspension and terrain response. I have to say I wouldn't never remove the air suspension because it takes away from the Rover. I have 100K + on her and still going. My opinion, of course, enjoy your RRS! Cheers 🍻 🇺🇸
I agree it does take away, but with this particular one and it's mileage and other issues this makes for a cost effective way to keep it on the road in my opinion. I have a different rrs with less miles and the air suspension definitely is handy and it's more capable with it still installed for sure!
Probably you haven't stuck in the middle of the winter/summer road with the small child back in the car due to air susp failure and impossibility to move... That might change your opinion
Take away what? Take away unreliability? I don't mind 😊
I like being able to raise the suspension to clear things but mainly I just think it's fun to raise the car up and down at stoplights 😅, but I'll make that trade too when my current rrs suspension gives me trouble
Is that many jack stands necessary. I have 2 6 tons. Kind of concerned if it’s integrity.
Probably not, I go overboard on jackstands, I'm still dealing with the aftermath of a car falling on me years ago. Better to be safe than sorry.
Good evening, I have a question. I'm having problems with my front suspension on the right side. I changed the airbag for a new one and it doesn't look good. I'm thinking of using this same suspension kit that you used. My question is about the lights that come on in the Dash how they can be removed and if you had the same problem… thank you 🙏🏽
With this kit there is no way to remove the light unless you disassemble the Guage cluster and block the light. Some of the more expensive kits come with a box that you can wire in that will disable the light.
@@HangarGaraj thank you
Have you tried replacing the valve block inside the front right wheel arch. Take the wheel arch liner out and it's a black box with 3 air lines running to it. Easy to change and they can get blocked if its an older model. You may also have to change BOTH front springs to address the leveling issue as the pressure needs to build up in the right hand hairspring before it transfers to the left hand one. Speaking from experience as I've changed all four of mine and all is good now.
Does your range rover sport not have ACE ? Because when i want to buy ot there is written for cars without ACE
What does ACE stand for. I have an 09, does it have anything to do with the Supercharged models?
Did you get a suspension fault warning saying the max is 30mph after installing the coil struts ?
If I remember correctly I was getting that warning with the air suspension but afterwards I only got the suspension fault warning that doesn't say anything about max speed.
@@HangarGaraj How did you find the solution to fixing that warning fault ? I recently switched mine from air to coil. The lights on the dash indicator stated suspension fault but the other fault was 30mph max. I’m trying to figure out what went wrong after installing these struts
@@therapeuticpink9689 All I did was pull the air struts out and pull the three fuses I mentioned in the video. As these vehicles age they could start to act differently so maybe I got lucky.
@@therapeuticpink9689I'm thinking he got lucky without the warnings. My wife's LR3 was lucky with this conversion, my L320 was having the same issue you're having and then I finally got the bypass module installed. I have the info in my latest video 👍
How long did it take
Where did you get the set of coils for that price???
The link to the suncore website is in the description 👍
Hi could I get a link to the place you purchased them from please. I’m in the uk 🇬🇧
Link should be in the description 🫡
Does the 4 wheel driver still work after?
Yup
@@HangarGaraj what about special programs i lost it
I changed them for €1100 in Albanian for ranger rover sport 2009 🇦🇱

What’s the link to purchase the struts?😀
There's a link in the description 👍
@@HangarGaraj I placed the order, thanks 😀 What’s the story now with the dash lights since the coilover conversion?
I don't think anything changed after what I'd mentioned in the video, I ended up selling it a few months ago, nothing to do with suspension, the interior was a bit tight for me
@@HangarGaraj Cool😀 Thanks for the video and the response ✌️
Hey, so….I just completed the coilover install 🎊🍾 I removed the 3 fuses also. So my question now is….what lights came on , left and stayed on in your case?😀
😅😅

Over 200k. You must of done timing chain 100k miles ago.
Timing chain is not a problem on the 4.4l jaguar engines (2005 to 2009) , the problem with the Timing chain started in 2010 with the 5.0l engines
Dont do this
Can you explain why? Both rear shocks on my 09 are leaking. RR Sport has 93,000mi but overall is in good shape and I don't use the raise/lower function.
Problem with this is the warning stays on and you can’t use the off road programs switch anymore. Absolute british GARBAGE design
All the off road modes still work with the fuses I pulled
I put in the exact same kit and lost my modes, which I assumed would happen, so I'm excited to pull the fuses and see what happens, but first coffee@@HangarGaraj
What a waste!
