The Volcano is still active and spits regularly lava..

By means of woodrings on a tree in Turkey, the Akrotiri eruption has been established at 1560.
I love the book "Unearthing Atlantis" about Thera.
And it became inspiration for Atlantis
Pompeii is the Roman Akrotiri since it predates Pompeii and was much larger.

I don't understand why Thira would have been on an important trade route between Crete and Cyprus. Thira is north of Crete and Cyprus is east
