Dolly Parton wrote this song. Allowing Whitney Houston to sing it made her tons of money. She said Elvis Presley approached her and wanted to sing this but he also wanted to buy the rights to the song so she would receive no royalties. She wisely said no, but let Whitney sing it while retaining all rights of ownership. Smart lady. And Whitney did an amazing job, obviously. 👍
