This will show you how to get the current version of Yume 2kki running in EasyRPG in the language of your choice. I just threw this video together very quickly in order for the information to get out there, since there aren't really any good videos on how to do this. Sorry if it's a bit rough here and there.
Please note, if you are using a non-English device, it is highly recommended that you switch the system locale back to the prior setting after the setup process has been completed.
Another important thing that I didn't really mention is the updating process. In order to update, generally all you will have to do is drag the contents of the patch and place/replace all files in the same manner as I did in the video when I did the patch 6 (that contained patches 1-5). Generally, when it's a new version (i.e. if it went to version .120c patch 8 to version .120d) you would simply grab that new version "from scratch", redo the language and RTP steps, and place your save.lsd file in the same location as it was before. Then you should be able to select the save file in the menu as normal. However if you have the prior version it's very likely that there will be an option in the wiki, like it was shown in the video, to simply patch the game rather than having to get a new version entirely. So in that case, it's same process for patching that I showed in the video. On the Discord you can easily stay in touch about the latest versions, but the wiki is also updated very quickly.
If you have a save from an older version (for instance, it's been a few years since you've last played but you still have those files), you can simply move your save file to the new installation in the same place where it is usually found, and it should be able to load without any issues. In any case, carrying over a save that was based on an old version should work on the current version. However, I have heard that there can be issues with taking a save from a newer version and using it in an older version.
Lastly I want to mention YumeNikkiOnline for being another way to play the game, which has the benefit of having no installation process, and is kept up-to-date. It runs on the website, so you need internet access. You can also play on a mobile device (it's possible to get EasyRPG on mobile too, though).

Thanks for the guide. I don't really understand why it has to be THIS complicated to play with an RPGmaker game in 2024...
Japanese locale
For anybody else looking for the ASCII folder, I found mine by clicking on "This PC" to the left, opening "Local Disk" with a smiley face (C:), then "Program Files (x86)" should be listed (not just "Program Files") and from there it should be the first folder listed inside. Hope this helps!
Weird - either way I believe it displays where it will store the files, so just follow that.
After years of wanting to play this game, I've finally learned how to download it! Thank you!
God bless you man, it was so frustrating to launch this game, and then i found your guide.
You're a fricken lifesaver... I finished 2kki like YEARS ago and now I wanted to play the new version and was so confused by the 2kki Fandom wiki... thank you, king
Holy shit, dude. You are a godsend after like 4 hours of pointless troubleshooting. Thank you.
Thank you so much! This was so straightforward and easy to follow!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. Thanks to you I finally downloaded the game without any issues :)
finally i was able to update my version lol, thank you!!
I somehow figured it out. Thank you.
thank you this helped so much!
thx, the best tutorial so far
good and informative video!
you`ve just saved me, god bless you
u the man appreciate u
Thank you so much!!
Thanks a million
works!
I created the Lenguaje folder but it never appears on the menu, I followed this tutorial and the installation page on the wiki but it doesn't work.
Edit: Ok, I'm dumb, the folder was named "Languaje" instead of "Lenguage". My first languaGe is spanish and that last G is a J, thanks for the tutoral!
Ah, glad you were able to fix it!
i cant run the RTP exe file, neither the game exe file, it shows an error in japanese, even after i changed my system locale to Japanese, is there something i did wrong?
Maybe you need to get the japanese language as well? I'm not sure.
Hey so i downloaded the most recent version, that being 120d, the language file doesn’t work, is there a way to troubleshoot that?
If you followed the steps in the video perfectly then it should work, make sure you're not skipping any steps at all. Join the discord if you're still having issues
what is the purpose of downloading the assets from the RTP? im worried that its making the game to big and is causing it to lag (im using easyrpg on my 3ds) is the RTP really necessary?
the RTP is around 15 mb. the game is 3 GIGABYTES. I think you can spare 15 more mb.
Assets from the RTP are used in various places, so those assets will not display properly unless you have it.
Hi! I was wondering what parts of this process requires your system locale to be in japanese. For example, do i need to set it to japanese every time I want to play Yume 2kki, etc. Would love an explanation for this!
I just keep it on japanese. I'm not exactly sure if you'd need to ever change it to anything else, but if you can, keep it on. doesn't really affect anything.
You can turn it off but you'll need to turn it back on if you want to patch the game or else the japanese text won't work
At 6:25 i see you have two differently-named instances of the yume 2kki .zip, do i need them too to patch it or do i just open the same zip folder twice and copy the files of one to the other? Also do i only need to do this if a version needs to be patched? Props for still answering these comments btw
the first one is the patch, the second one is the base game. so you'd extract the base game, then set it up, then grab the files from the patch and place them in to the corresponding folder (each window should have a "2" folder and some files like changelog, start.exe and other .txt files), replacing all/overwriting when prompted. And yes, this is only for when you need to apply patches, patches tend to bring new content so it's worth learning how to patch the game. it's really just a matter of dragging and dropping. There can be times when the current version is just the letter version, and no patches are available yet.
@@volvulusx5043 last question for now, does the current latest version need to be patched?
@@byron6145 if there are any patches you should apply them. As of writing, 0.123 just released, there are no patches
@@volvulusx5043 huge thanks for the help dude, game seems to be running just fine
Hello! Is there a way to have the game start up in English every time instead of having to select English on each start-up?
I've not heard of anything like that, no
@@volvulusx5043 I see, thank you for the swift reply!
Does this same formula work for other Yume Nikki games, specifically .flow?
Pretty much, I also played .flow with this setup. All I did was download the latest version (.194 I believe), placed those files in a folder where my EasyRPG is, and then did the step for language. It worked without any issues
@@volvulusx5043 Thank you, it worked perfectly!
@@Prawn-wp6xr nice, glad to hear!
Launching Easy RPG doesn't work that way for me. I have to put the player in the game files, rather than putting the game files in the Easy RPG folder.
Odd, I still have it set up like this and it works. Maybe it's something to do with the continuous version?
I wonder if this will work on an Android phone, last time i tried it worked but some maps had the backgrounds missing and other buggy stuff
I've not tried it, but I would think that if you have the game up and running on your PC working 100%, then taking all of the files and placing them on your phone (except you'd use the Android version of EasyRPG instead) should work...?
@@volvulusx5043 It works on my androis galaxy s10+, the translation sadly doesnt work. But the base game does.
Hey whenever I run the RPG2000RTP it says "The system cannot find the path specified" what do I do about this?
@@cincinnatixdxd5055 I'm not really certain what's happening, just worked for me. Watch the video again to make sure you didn't miss anything. If you can get the program that installs the RTP running then you probably just need to select the installation path, it can go anywhere
@@volvulusx5043 im a little bit stupid i rewatched and i figured out what i did wrong, thank you tho
help!!!!!!!!!!!
yall I dont think I need to download bandizip bc I already have this thing that helps to extract stuff, or do i have to download bandizip anyways? it gets confusion I mean, when he opens the original game, it haves a different design than when I open those sort of filles. . :C
You don't absolutely need to, but I'd do it if it's not working
@@volvulusx5043 ty! I'll try it in a while and I'll update
thank you based god
Ive followed every step in the video (twice) and the language option is not appearing in easyrpg. any idea what is causing that?
EDIT: turns out I had an old version of EasyRPG. Version 7.0 doesnt work, needs to be 8.0
Is there a guide for how to do this, but with the google drive file versions?
It shouldn't be all that much of a difference. Just need to download/extract the game along with the other stuff.
@volvulusx5043 I've already extracted it into the file shown, but the bandizip doesn't show the same files as before so I was just confused on how to deal with it, since it worked with the patches
should i change the system locale back when i am done?
If you find that it's affecting you somehow then that's fine, personally I keep it on Japanese locale since it doesn't do anything, really
i didn’t replace the files at 5:56 i just skipped them but the game initially works with no problems. is it ok or do i need to restart all over?
another thing i downloaded the 0.122 ver and i noticed i don’t have the initial purple icon plus the .exe in “start” and everything else, but the game works is it a problem?
hm im not sure, if it seems OK then it's OK.
@@volvulusx5043 thanks for the replyyy but in the end I did everything again for safety. one last thing now when I click "Player" and run Easy RPG, in the "Games" section in addition to the yno translations and the game version the "RTP" folder has been added, is this a problem?
maybe I just added it myself in the easy rpg folder during the download process but the game works so idk
@@janis6039 that's fine, it's just showing any folders that are there
I can't find the ASCII folder
it should be in your program files x86 by default
can i unninstall bandizip after doing everything?
If you want to, but then you may need it again to update the game
I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU TE AMO
Is obligatory change the locale to japan? or is it optional?
It's obligatory. Is there an issue with having it set to Japan? Because I don't observe any issue.
@@volvulusx5043 Thank you, I just wanted to know, there are no issues
The file is giving me an error when downloading, what do l do? :'0
What file?
The download for the game

I just can't get the patches to work.
Patches should be easy, simply drag and drop the contents over to the game's folder and replace all files when prompted.

do androids need rtp too?
I would think so, are you trying to get it set up without a PC? Otherwise I don't think it would be difficult to set up
💪💪💪💪💪
i couldnt find the ASCII file & i was really confused, it nearly worked tho
you can see the location at 5:25, basically it goes to Program Files (x86) by default
