  • Brown trout fly fishing in small streams is exciting. Hunting brown trout is a game of poking about the likely holding water in a trout stream, looking for a rising brown trout, spotting the brown trout or prospecting. Stalking rising and cruising brown trout takes on a whole new level of fly fishing in trout streams and in this video, follow up to Part 1 at Maruia Motel in New Zealand, we again join Ashley. We had to apply some advanced small stream tactics in order to be successful at catching several gorgeous brown trout.

    Cinematography is phenomenal. A+. Has all the qualities of what one would want in a fly fishing video.

    Your channel captures the highest level and best blend of entertainment, art, and Ph.D. level fly fishing information that I've seen. I'm in awe of 1) the skill level and tactics involved 2) the quality of the content, and 3) that this channel doesn't have over half a million subscribers already.

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  Před 3 lety +1

      thank you for that. :) If you can find us a 1/2 million subs we'd appreciate that. ;) All we can do is share along the way and hope it connects with a few people and make their time on the water more enjoyable. At no point do we think we know it all, the point of our videos is to get folks thinking through their time on the water a little more and try different things in different scenarios and conditions. Thanks again :)

    Once again another great video with technical instruction that hopefully I can apply to the streams in Montana, Wyoming, and BC that I fish. Thank you and keep them coming.

      @jensenflyfishing  Před 3 lety +1

      So glad you see it - the point in the diversity in what we're sharing is that the commonality - trout rivers - can be applied anywhere. Trout are trout no matter what continent, and while the local food sources may deviate the same principles of where, why, how all apply. Trout are quite universal and having as many tactics in mind to take them on as possible and an attitude to have a go or try is usually all that's needed. :)

      Awesome to hear. All the little details are important, and if we can share them through sharing what the fish are doing then we've done our job. Trout are such artists in their streams. 😊🍻

    Great video! (My breathing actually got shallow on that tricky fish 15 mins in)
    We fished the lower sections of a couple of those tributaries a few years ago, the fish were super-spooky. By late summer I guess they have seen a few anglers.

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  Před 3 lety +1

      Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, there are some fish that really keep us on our toes and ya just want everything to line up well. Angler pressure along with drought conditions can make for some tougher fishing.

    Goodness you catch more fish in that plaid shirt .....and your casting seems to improve 😂just love your stuff ! Thank you !

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  Před 3 lety

      :) plaid, orange, purple... the fish don't care if your approach is good. :) And you only have to cast as well as the fish demand. :)

    Really enjoying the videos, as always! Wondering if you have a recommendation for sight fishing sunglasses. As a student heading to college next year, I'm on a budget, but I also know how important good optics can be. Thanks in advance!

      If you can get a pr of Smith Optics Low Light Ignitors they are worth the $. They aren't cheap but not over the top either. And they are a game changer in bush or cloud type light. :)

    Great video mate, these are so helpful for a beginner! Just a question: I’m in New Zealand, does most of the tips and info you provide apply over here? I guess we have some similar type of terrain and waters as you guys in Canada. Thanks and god bless.

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  Před 3 lety +1

      Awesome to hear you're getting into the sport and you found this helpful! Our tips and tactics absolutely apply to NZ. In fact much of that video was shot on the south island. There's so much similarity between many of the waters we fish here in Canada and in NZ There are universal truths to trout and their behavior and how to fish for them. Whenever you sight fish you can always apply the approach, positioning, necessary cast and use of gear to help you be successful.
