Why are TikTok hacks, so strange sometimes? So I decided to try some viral TikTok sewing hack videos. I decided to tackle how to make pleats with a fork, how to make a rolled hem easily, how to turn a piece of fabric, and unsurprisingly, how to fix a sewing pattern.

Y’know, I thought I’d hate the goat, but he vocalizes the frustration of sewing so well that he really grew on me XD

Instead of trying hacks, people need to read their manual and carefully look through all of the random stuff that they're "never going to use" that came with the sewing machine. Because there's a good chance there's a proper way and a tool for it that you already have.

Yes, more hacks please, I've missed having you around! Plus, the added bonus that I don't have to get a Tiktok account (I am standing my ground on this!).

I love the goat! Emily D Baker has one and it fell during a stream and broke one of its ears off. Her chat instantly named it Vincent VanGoat

I have also broken my wrists. Yes, both, because I am a special flower. I cannot give medical advice, but my microwave warm pack is, was, and will always be my friend. At some point, rest was not

That bottle cap is definitely a magnet! Look how it snaps down onto the metal plate. That's why it doesn't move.

Sorry about your wrist, hope it gets better soon. Also I think the goat should be named Wilhelm (For Obvious reasons)

Wait, WHAT. get the the flat bed doohickicky thing extension bed for your machine. Or one of the clear extension beds that quilters use. How are you even surviving sewing on the free arm. Sorry for two comments but I don't have my own screaming goat

Fork pleats are a hack? I've always used a fork for 1inch pleats. I thought fork and knife(use a butter knife! makes roughly half inch pleats) pleats were just a vintage trick, not a modern hack. My grandma taught me those. My grandma taught me I could adjust a fork pleat by using different prongs too.

I'm thinking Screech for the goat's name, ultimate 90's nostalgia while recognising the chaos

  • @heatherpratchler1509

When my grandma downsized she didn't need her big sewing machine anymore, so I claimed it as no one else wanted it. It's a Bernina 730 record from the 60's. She keeps trucking, no major issues, since I've had it, and is what did most of my cosplay sewing on. She is my workhorse now, the main machine I use.

The goat should be named Jamie Lee after the greatest screamer of all time.

I'm a day late, but that goat's name must be either "Edvard" or "Munch" after the artist of, you know, "The Scream" 🤣

I make girls sun dresses for charity and add pockets and a ruffle out of coordinating fabric. For years I did a gathered ruffle but switched to fork pleating a few years ago. It is so fast! Really a game changer. I don’t use 3 times the fabric - more like 2 times and leave some space between the pleats. The dresses don’t need 3 X pleating as long as the girls have plenty of room to move.
