    I'm extremely happy that US won too , they deserved it after four years in the making but people need to stop disrespecting Japan. It's great you have pride for the team but that doesn't give you the right to insult Japan. They were the defending world champs. They had a great tournament and they deserve a lot of respect for not giving up

      Anton Pham I agree. But to say one team deserves to win over another I do not agree. There is a lot involved between team players and strategy. So may the best team at that time win.

    Carli Lloyd was a BEAST! This game was so amazing to watch and I am so proud of this team and their 3RD WORLD CUP WIN!!! ahhhh! I remember being a kid in '99 and being so inspired by the USA's win. I wonder how many young girls watched this match and have become inspired as well...well, done USWNT!!

    Regardless of the outcome, these highlights make me extremely happy. I'm from Bangladesh, a country where women's football is barely a thing. I used to play football, but had to give up after high school since there isn't any good platform here. It just makes me so darn happy that more people are watching women's football and appreciating them.
    Congrats to both the teams! :D

    Let's not overlook the continuous contribution of Meghan Klingenberg.
    That girl was relentless BEAST MODE on every play.
    I enjoyed watching her continue to get the best of her opponents.
    She always knew where and when she was needed.
    She saved a critical goal from being scored in the match against Sweden.
    Time and time again she scrapped it out to make critical opportunities for her team to score or keep possession of the ball.
    She was truly a pleasure to watch throughout this tournament.

      softclay4thought All US defenders were good, plus they were efficiently backed up by both midfielders and forwards when needed. That means Jill Ellis is a great coach.

    • @softclay4thought
      @softclay4thought Před 9 lety +1

      Peter Dao Yes indeed. Jill Ellis built things up gradually and adjusted her lineup wisely at the end. She received a lot of input and was open minded enough to listen to and implement some constructive suggestions from qualified and well meaning sources.

    • @softclay4thought
      @softclay4thought Před 9 lety +1

      Peter Dao "Necessity is the mother of invention"
      This holds true for the team lineup.
      Two key players had to sit out the game with China.
      This is when the ideal deployment of talent was discovered and they gladly stuck with it the rest of the way.
      Jill Ellis is no coaching genius, but she did listen to the requests and recommendations of Carli Lloyd as to how to best deploy and UNLEASH her potential.
      CARLI LLOYD UNLEASHED!!!!!!
      YEA!!!!!

      Peter Dao "All US defenders were good"... I wouldn't go that far, overall ya, but Julie looked like she was on a mission to sabbtoage the US the last two games, terrible mistakes. She was responsible for both goals in the finals and should have cost us a Pen & a player against Germany. People need to give her back line partner SB all the credit she deserves, because she was a beast not Julie

      +Megadog Thats was a semi-final, and Brazil were pure shit that day , play Germany have dominated the men international game for a while,Brazil have a shut squad now as well, just neynar Silva and Luiz. In women's football every team is poor, this game for example, Japan conceded 2 of their goals from corners, and one from an on the ground free kick, that does not and cannot happen in a professional game. It shows a lack of quality, intelligence , coaching and effort,and those situations always make it much easier for the attacking side. They were poor goals and poor teams.

    This match was so much similar to Germany vs Brazil 2014 world cup semi final, where Germany destroyed Brazil within the first 30 minutes by scoring 5 goals but the only difference Brazil never recover in the match after that and Germany started going easy on them. They were destroyed morally, mentally and every possible way. But the Japan team here did fight back and try to recover but alas they couldn't do anything with the strong US defense ( + offence).

    IMPRESSIVE performance by the U.S. women! They looked bigger, stronger and faster than their Japanese counterparts, but the real keys to victory were their amped-up will to win, their determination not to let up, their finishing instinct, and their sharp passing and ball control during crucial moments of the game. As for Nadeshiko Japan, credit where credit's due: these women could have folded as a result of their disastrous beginning, but instead, they never gave up and never stopped trying; they fought to the very end. Their spirit was not crushed, and consequently they remained dangerous throughout the second half. I didn't count them out until 3 minutes were left on the clock!

    The reason the US played so great is because they were extremely pissed off about losing the 2011 WWC final. Look at them now, the best womens team in the world even though they kind have always been. It's a shame that the men's team isn't anywhere near as good as the USWNT.

      Figured that's what you meant... but the global competition in the men's division is so fierce that it will be years before the US men's team can become a consistent side at the international level.
      Don't mean to get political or anything, but I think the reason (or part of it anyway) why the USWNT is so successful is because our nation has given women in this country liberties to play sports as opposed to other countries, but that's just my take

    Inevitable that USA would win. Just a matter of by how many goals with virtual home ground advantage. After dumping top-ranked Germany, they were breathing fire and brimstone. Japan looked shaky against England and were lucky to go into the final by comparison. With the July 4 celebrations spurring them on, the Americans went for shock and awe attacks and it paid off handsomely. It was virtually game over after 20 minutes. 5-2 scoreline is a fitting way to end things as goals were hard to come by previously.

    Congratulations from Japan! Japan was confused because USA took a low corner kick at first. I will praise the USA strategy

      +artichokeflower Japan is an underrated powerhouse. All that talent in both men's (Honda, Kagawa) and Womens (Sawa, Kaihori). I love watching them play as they have a disciplined team. and the J league is a fun league to watch. (i've been following Shimizu S Pulse lately). Japan will rise again. They always have.

    Though I watched this match live on TV when it was broadcast, I came back to check my memory of an incredible goal somehow kicked from midfield. Sure enough, there's U.S. team captain Carli Lloyd kicking it in unassisted a step beyond the center line and right over the Japanese goalie's head. Like a typical American I don't count myself a soccer fan -- I tune in for World Cup matches and that's about it -- but I've got enough televised minutes under my belt to call that the single most memorable goal I've ever seen. (And like a typical American I'm also compelled to compare the Japanese goalie's flub with a centerfielder misjudging a sharply hit fly ball -- one hit directly toward him so the ball follows no visible arc to suggest where it may come down. Hits like those can zoom over a centerfielder's head just as they did this unfortunate goalie's.) Extraordinary.

    Even through the crushing lead, Japan didn't give up and kept up their strong tactics, spirit, and discipline. (And maybe kept the game entertaining?) Great sportsmanship. And have you seen the coach? A man of diligence, and after loss humility and respect. America may have won the cup, but Japan has won my heart. Would love to see these teams again in the future!

    The first goal was everything. Lloyd was totally free because she was way out of PA right before the corner kick. Their tactics paid off. Apparently, Japanese players never expected her attack from behind, and total disaster thereafter. The US team must have practiced this over and over again. But this is just one-time-only strategy. They used it in the most important game and paid off.
