May I know if the shops in the towns (other than cities) are open in winter? I’m worried that there are not much to see or eat during that time.

Why you can driver alone? I am from indonesia. I hear we cannot use driver international lisent.
Yes you can drive alone as long as you have international license. International license is required for Malaysian to drive in Japan. Not sure if this is the same case for Indonesian
Hi, during ur trip did u encounter heavy snow that cause road / attraction closure? I’m going to Hokkaido this Dec but can’t decide from 10th or 14th December to depart.
No heavy snow here but it hapened on hokkaido east which caused road closure for 1-2 days.

One night each at noboribetsu, lake toya and niseko. These 3 towns are less then 2 hrs apart. You may want to spend 2 nights at niseko if plan for skiing.
Hi :) Did you need to use snow shoes or are regular sneakers with water protectant spray sufficient?
Regular sneaker shoes are okay and best if waterproof shoes. It is recommended to buy shoe spike gripper when walking on snow especially hard snow to avoid slippery. You can get this online from shoppee and it is quitr cheap.

hokkaido tak sibuk mcm bandar besar lain di jepun. Parking tak susah, banyak.. ada berbayar dan ada free. Petrol mmg sekali ganda harga kat Malaysia.

Was driving dangerous at any point? Was the visibiltiy okay? I heard so many horror stories about driving in Hokkaido in winter and I will be on a road trip there this december. 🥶
My driving was very smooth even though i am coming from a country with no winter. The system and roads were well maintained. I was lucky as no snowstorm or blizzard during my vacation. Overall i feel very safe.

Understand you mentioned driving is safe and easy. Can you comments on driving during night time? As i know it will be getting dark very early during winter time.
In general quite ok to drive at night nearby the town. I drove from otaru to sapporo and reached the hotel at night. But try avoid if the weather is not good or during heavy snow.
Always follow the weather forecast.

@@derrick123 No skid. Cars are using winter tyres during this season. Should be okay on main and well maintained road even with snow. Speed limits are reduced too. Just dont go above limit.

@@sheilanoria464 wheather is good, not windy and please expect hokkaido is all white in dec onwards. Watch the weather forecast as heavy snow falls can happen during this period. Plan to stay in Sapporo (near airport) for 2 days as a last stop in case of heavy snow. Normally weather should be okay and the roads in japan are well maintained and safe.

For car rental, what is the international driving licence they ask?
It depends from which country you are from. For me, Malaysian, I've to apply for International Driving Permit (RM150 for 1 year) while in Malaysia.
Hi, which hotel do you recommend in noburibetsu?
My stay here is only for one night before heading to lake Toya mainly to rest and took oppotunitiy to visit hot spring at Noburibetsu. Some prefer the hotel near the hot spring where many hotels you can choose from. I chose the hotel not far from here too but closer to main road. You can see the hotel name from this video.

@@ryt2178 tak. Just pay direct. Car rental will give you similar smart tag device. I calculated it thin it was cheaper to pay direct vs unlimited unless you plan for long distance a lot on toll road
Hi for the snow rafting at Niseko Village, beside the price u pay for snow rafting, do you need to pay the admission fee also?
No admission fee. The place Niseko Village is open to public. Even the parking spaces are free.
Btw can u remember how much n how long is the snow rafting ? Did u try snowmobile?
@@wendywoo4145 about 15-20mins and i dont remember the exact price but rm100 plus per person. Did’t try snowmobile. Can check Hirafu which offer similar activities but i think cheaper as a lot more ppl here. Hirafu just 10km apart from Niseko. I stayed at Hirafu.

No need snow chain unless you plan to be very adventurous to drive on road which are not maintain with a very thick snow. All rental cars come with snow tyres during winter.

@@wahidahkamil4548 very very safe. The road are well maintain. Just follow the speed limit and plan your trip, monitor the weather. Avoid driving during heavy snow fall if possible. Other than that it was really safe and enjoysble trip.

@@omoumidesu tak susah, boleh cuba. Drive mcm biasa with slower speed. Tayar mmg utk snow dan jslan biasa. Rasa mcm jalan atas jalan berpasir kalau byk snow. Jspan is quite safe. Trylah you will enjoy it. Cuma elak masa salji turun lebat. Tempat i pergi tu semua well maintained.

@@omoumidesu sy beli satu bulan sebelum fly. 6 bulan awal harga lebih mahal sbb covid country border belum buka sepenuhnya. Skrg dah lain rasanya. I bought kl to hokkaido for rm 3200 per person
