I was a proofreader for a translation project, and one of the characters made a reference to "The Hyperboloid of Engineer Garin"
After some discussion we decided to translate it as "Death Ray", considering neither of us knew what a Hyperboloid was
I'm happy to finally know what a Hyperboloid is
But now I'm stating to wonder what a "Ray" really is
It depends on the context.
A ray in mathematics is a line that has 1 endpoint.
A ray could also be referring to a beam of light (i.e. a ray of sunshine, etc.)
