  • Now then guys, here we have another video on the Renault Clio Mk2 (1 more to follow) when we got the car it had an electrical issue and judging by the mot history it had for some time, basically there was no Speedo, no rev counter, no fuel gauge, no temperature gauge, no mileage counter or odometer.
We ordered a couple of different sets of clocks off eBay both with unknown mileages (gamble I know) and when we got into it we ended up stripping the upper dash out to be able to remove the clocks.
When we plugged in the new clocks they where around 139,000 miles which was completely unacceptable, so we decided to dig into the dash and see what we could do to get the original clocks working for the correct vehicle mileage.
So please enjoy the video, don’t forget to hit the thumbs up button, drop us a subscribe to keep up with future videos, please comment any feedback and if you really enjoyed the video give it a share to broadcast it to others.
    Thanks guys 👌

You fitted a manual cluster unit to an automatic vehicle. That small screen displays PNDR. For future reference there was no need to do all this, this is an extremely common fault, you have to run through the instrument cluster reset procedure using the key. It will reset the PCB and cycle all the gagues through to calibrate them. It's also known as a fuel reset procedure because it recalibrates the fuel gauge to the level in the tank.

How would I go about removing the centre vents once the dash has been taken off

I can't free up the left hand side of the upper dash. There's no more fasteners to remove, so I don't know what it's stuck on. It came away so easily in the video.

Have you maybe noticed where the turn signal speeker is? I thought it was on the clock but I can't see it on your video. I have a bad connection issue, it works sometimes but most of the time it doesn't. Turn signals are working properly but the sound of clicking is the one that is breaking.

Did you ever manage to get this fixed?

@@sq5694 Yes, it is the small speaker inside of the dashboard. I have dismantled the dashboard and resoldered the speaker connections on the PCB. You will need to remove all the needles from dials in order to dismantle the dashboard. After you put it all back you will need to recalibrate needles. You are doing that by putting the car key on contact and then hold the KM reset button for about 5 seconds until calibration begins. Repeat the process until all of the needles are at their normal positions.
