for people who are having trouble, i use my wrist to chuck instead of the heel of my hand. it sometimes fails, but from chucking from my wrist, i learned to use the heel
I finally learned how to chuck after reading this comment and using my wrist! I use my thumb to strum so the palm of my hand isn't easy to use. Thank you!!

Thank you so much! I've been scouting across CZcams for different uku teachers but nobody explains things better than you - you're detailed, you explain slowly and elaborately and don't assume that absolute beginners already know loads of stuff that is evident to you who is a pro player (which is what a lot of other tutorials on here do).
After a year of playing and many youtube videos and disappointment this video finally taught me how to chuck!!! Thank you so so so much, I genuinely yelled out in pure joy when I finally got it

Thank you so much for this lesson. I've watched what seems like a bazillion CZcams videos and was unable to produce the correct sound. Then I watched yours and I had one of those lightbulb moments...and I'm proud to say, I can now Chuck...very slowly, but I can do it. So excited!
Thank you so much! Iâve always had trouble with palm muting and have watched several you tube tutorials to no avail, until I came across yours. Your method of teaching it was exactly what I needed to understand and get the rhythm of it.
When ever I press down it makes the strings make a weird sound.idk its just hard for me.
That probably means you're pressing down too hard. If you push the string all the way down it will still ring. You want to hit it just hard enough to make the slapping noise but not so hard that it actually plays the string

Love your teaching style, can I just share a little Australian slang with you? A fairly common term for vomiting goes like this, " Mate had a massive night, I've been chucking up all morning!!" or another term for a vomit is an "up chuck". Luckily you described it as a down chuck. :)
Later on in the video the strum includes an up-chuck! Here on in US New England as well, upchuck is the act of vomiting and the vomit itself :|
In California, where I've lived my whole life so far, we don't say "chuck up" but we do say "upchuck".
