Europe’s net zero goals are ‘collapsing very quickly’

  • Menzies Research Centre Executive Director Nick Cater says European voters are saying “no” to net zero and “yes” to tighter immigration.
Journalist Alan Kohler wrote a piece in the New Daily urging households to “switch their gas appliances to electric” if Australia wants to reach its net zero emissions targets.
“The electricity bills are going through the roof in countries like Germany and Ireland," Mr Cater told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“This whole thing is just collapsing very quickly in Europe.”

@@sav7568 No, the AEMO put out a report last year that stated the total output of energy from Australia's wind turbine electricity generation plants was just 30% of the total nameplate capacity on average over a year. And for total solar across Australia it was just 20% of total nameplate capacity.
But yes, I did quote an average of 5% to 10% energy production on days with heavy cloud cover over a 24 hour period. That is from our personal solar supply which comes with an app from Germany to monitor our daily generation. We are capped at 5kw so the output is pretty pathetic and the same principle of output would apply to the 87MW commercial solar electricity generating works 4 kilometres up the road. We had a 24 hour period recently where the output of energy from our personal system was just 4% of rated capacity. This is an example of why the total average over a year is just 20%.

This election at the European Union should be scaring labour it clearly demonstrates the shift is happening and the coalition with Peter Dutton has a grater understanding of the shift. The coalition can see France’s use of nuclear energy to power electricity is a significant benefit for its citizens and the environment. With over 70% of its electricity generated from nuclear power, France enjoys some of the cheapest electricity rates in Europe. This affordable energy helps alleviate financial burdens on households and businesses alike. Furthermore, by relying on nuclear energy, which produces minimal greenhouse gas emissions, France is making substantial progress towards its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions. This commitment to clean energy ensures a sustainable future while providing economic advantages to its citizens.
