  • This great looking little bead head nymph pattern is intended to imitate a Pale Morning Dun. But for east coast guys like me it will make a great Sulphur imitation. The little Ice Dub bubble on the back is intended to imitate the insect as it's about to emerge on its way to the surface of the water. The Ice Dub does a great job of mimicking the wings popping out of the wing case.
I will definitely be fishing this fly as a nymph when I tight line. However, I am always looking for weighted emerger like nymphs that I can use on my euro rig to cast out a soft hackle when the hatch comes off and the bite is on the swing. You know what I'm talking about, that last half hour before dark when the water starts to boil. I'm not running back to the truck to switch rods. I just switch flies on my leader and swing wets with my euro rod. You just need a little weight to get the flies out there. This fly is going to do a perfect job of that.
Like always, please check out our website, www.holsingers... for all your tying needs. Also, thank you for supporting our channel and shop for all these years now.

Shawn, that’s a smooth trick you did with that casing you did with dubbing on the thorax. Thanks for sharing.

Agree with CBL138, that IS a smooth trick with the dubbing and resultant wing case. Strangely, don't recall ever seeing that done before but I like the result. Thanks for that Shawn, and the fly itself!

@@jtahoe5672 I haven’t seen it done either so when I found it in the book I thought I had to share. He said he copied it from a fly called a floating nymph ball I think. Glad I came across it and could share it.
