I live to see kill team content, especially with your guys' amazing editing, but i cant help but feel like everyone, both the players and viewers, are missing out on how great the game system is without secondary objectives. its what makes missions like this balanced

Great Viewing as usual James you missed that the Comms boys does 2 mortal wounds per crit when he rolls a crit. He would have nailed the Genestealer in turn two.

@@CasperTheRamKnight not right. As an ex marine, I'd definitely rather defend a position than attack one. The more you can control your battlefield, the better off you are.
Obviously this isn't real life, but if they had equal forces, Orks would have steamrolled her.

As much as I enjoyed the friendly banter, I can't say I enjoyed this mission as it was played at all. It was ridiculously one-sided without Tac Ops to make up points for the defender.
It's honestly such a shame, James ran an incredibly tight game, it really feels like he was robbed of the victory.
Nah he misplayed n she out played him he chose to defend if the mission was different she would of adapted. His game was good but not good enough to get a good screen for the objective. Solid fun thematic mission

It hurts my orky heart how many special rules were not used properly :( Unload slugs allows you to reroll all attack dice.. When Comms boys shooting attack crits it stuns yes, but also has
MW2.. That said, I love your Kill Team content!

Feeling two-sided. I love every Playon episode yet I also beg for this Playon Octarius season to end. The number of rules being ignored is considerable and really makes me as a player uncomfortable yet all players are so charming and entertaining. Guess I could only hope for things to be better in the next KT season.
p.s. GW released some Killteam FAQ on November 4th yet did not mention it in any article in Warhammer Community. I would like to suggest u guys take a look and apply them in the next season
We understand. We shot all of these together and tried to go as simple as we could. Weve been taking tons of notes to apply to the next season, including the faqs and balance sheets that have come out since we shot it.

Love the Kill Team content and would love to see more! Also love having James on the channel! But man this battle seemed very one sided from the start. Let's have the Orks start short handed and put the Melee-focused Tyranids group within early striking distance!

Hey! Love the content, but I have one rules tip: at the end of the game, Rebecca made a free move action. But this means you can still not double move, which won her the game in this scenario
I just looked very carefully and the way you guys move the distance measure gives you 1-2 additional black triangles per movement XD
These are a great start into showing how great killteam is! But definitely will need work in the future seasons to come, if you guys ever need help form the killteam community PLEASE reach out!

I'm pretty new to KT (3 games played), and just played this mission today. My Legionaries (attacker) got spanked by an Intercessor team (defender). Cool to see this pop up in my feed today!
Intercession Squad is pretty brutal. The sergeant can take a bolt rifle, a Vengeance-Class Scope and the Reclusium-Blessed bolts, and sling 4, 2+, P1, Lethal 5+, 4/5 damage shots twice per activation, plus Overwatch on 2+ with Methodical. Truly frightening.
@@Glocktagon I've lost to them twice, and 'quins once. I'm confident that I'm not playing well, nor playing with good team composition.

So long as I'm satisfying those directives in that order, I can't lose.

Tbf, the genestealers have a 5+ invulnerable save, so the AP wouldn’t have done anything anyway.

I gotta say I was super excited to see kill team on the channel and I do love the players they're definitely entertaining themselves, but the rule inconsistencies has been a real big let down and been kind of uncomfortable to watch. I really can't wait for this season to end and hopefully see not only a more seasoned group take a crack at the game having made these mistakes and learned from them, but also have some of the crazy kill teams like warp Coven and Gellerpox and so on played
We understand. Thanks for your feedback. We filmed these all together, so some of the errors are of course systematic. We are trying to awknowdlge them and learn for the next season.

@22:31, James could have rerolled all the dice with the unload slugs ability within 6 inches!
I have a question tho, at 8:29 the Ork boy shoots at the stealer but the stealer is in cover right and is concealed right? So how does the ork get to shoot at the stealer? Also after that Rebecca only retained one defense dice as a save instead of 2, but I thought her Lurk ploy gives her additional dice to defend if concealed or in cover.
If I remember correctly, ork boy being within 1 white circle of cover can actually shoot the genestealer. It would need to be more than 1 white circle(could be wrong here) away from cover to be obscured + conceal would make it invalid target without vantage point. I might be wrong though

that mission felt really much in the attackers ball? Like firstly the defenders started with less models which against really killy killteams would have been great but here just really was pure downsides so idk how to feel on that and then on top of that their wasn't any real counterplay the defender could do against the action past kill good which is hard enough in even matches but they were starting with less to begin with so was really difficult

Really one sided mission for a one sided match up. The genestealers really had a ton of advantages as a melee and charging focused unit against a smaller starting team.
James has played so well in both his games and then he just can't pull it through in the end

Question: 8:25 shooting a concealed Gensteler thats in cover, when are you alloved to do that? Is it because they are both close to the cover? Noob question.
Hidden Horror: While this operative has a Conceal order, it is always treated as having a Conceal order, regardless of any other rules (e.g. Vantage Point).

Alright, so I've figured it out. Rebecca incorrectly said she had cover - (unless I am missing a special Genestealer rule). If you read up on the cover rules it will say that you're in cover if you are within ▲ (1") of a point in which a cover line ( which is all the straight lines from any part of the attacking operative's base to all of the parts of the target operative's base) crosses a terrain feature that provides Cover. Now because James maneuvered his Ork Boy in such a way that the cover line distance to the barricade was way longer than 1", he was allowed to shoot.
And don't forget if you are not sure just do what feels right and maybe figure it out later. Not that this is particularly helpful in these videos which are supposed to help learn the game.

@@karltschyman I think due to the arms of the model, she was probably considered in cover and thats why the base is not within 1 inch.(oops sorry, black triangle). But James played Orks and Orks are mean, so they saw, determined she was not in cover, and assuming the Ork was within a white circle of the barrier, shot. Then Rebecca said she was in cover, the Ork said too late hehehe, Dakka...Dakka...

Regular kill team sized. We just used a bigger board for the display. We only played on the regular size inside it.

So I'm pretty new to Kill Team myself, but couldn't she have cancelled out the crit with one of her own crits at 10:23? That's how it works in the rules, right? 0_o
So the attacker chooses whether or not they will attack the person or parry one of their dice. If the die hasn't already been parried then it will hit. Does that make sense?
@@thejomah It does, but that's my point exactly: She could have used a crit to parry one of his crits and the model would not have died! They do this multiple times actually, but it's not how I understand the rules as written
As a Kill team player, the Tac Ops should be played. Missions and game balance really need these across the board. In tournaments and local games, I can't imagine playing without them as the game is much more hollow without the need to strive for and score the tac ops. These really don't represent the meta and state of Kill Team and aren't that enjoyable without them.
We’re excited to use them. For us starting we needed to keep it simple. But future series for sure.
Those Ork Kommandos look slick. James's Orks are always a welcome sight.

It annoys me so much that Rebecca keeps paying for a Strat Ploy and then keeps not using it.
We filmed these all together, but as we found out later after we had filmed it. That strat is utterly useless for genestealers. As if there in cover and concealed they can't be shot anyways. However in this case because of how close proximity James's orks was to the stealers they didn't get cover so from our understanding they should be obscured

Potions of terrain granting obscurement can be negated if the attacking operative is within 1".

8:10 I'm not sure why the Dakka Boy couldn't shoot the genestealer that moved forward on turn one. Being on a vantage point vs a lower target allows you to treat conceal orders as engage orders. I'm enjoying the content, but please do work on the rule comprehension for your next productions!

Could someone explain why the genestealers won right at the end? I thought they were about to get tabled! Enjoyed as always!
For this mission, basically the defender starts with 12 points, and for each specific number of explosives planted, the attacker steals some. Since they werent using tac ops, it was done the moment too many were planted
@@R3C0NSPARTAN Ahhh, ok. I was thinking that points were still being scored for killing off enemy units keeping the orcs ahead. Seems pretty OP just running in your leader unit at the end to sweep in one turn!

probably in the minority but seeing one half of these games always been genestealers, which are by far the most boring kt team. It's getting kinda stale at this point. It would be great to see another matchup.
(yes, i understand it's for a competition for the paints, yes, it's still boring)
A lot of that gets fixed if you play for secondary points, since it means there are other ways to score than running the two teams straight at each other.
