About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

Damn it Shannon you left us way to soon. RIP.
RIP Shannon...you're missed.
I met Shannon by accidentally walking into his dressing room at the bearsville theater in Woodstock ny back in the early 90s , he was extremely nice and invited me to stay and talk . Very very nice guy . He was sipping hot tea and telling me about how he loved to listen to Jim croce.
Great to finally see the full session online, thanks!
Such an honor to have been able to see Blind Melon Live in 1994 in a lil bar in Del Rey Beach FL 🤘🏼
I miss his voice so much. RIP Shannon ❤
"And on the day we all die, thank God our souls will be released, they'll be released, they'll be released."
I was so lucky enough to hear Shannon play "Candy Says" at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC '94. Then later that year, he dominated Woodstock like it was the warm up show at the Stone Pony that I had seen them at 2 days before. He had that ability to reach 300,000+ people like they were in a small club. Blind Melon is over looked too often. ❤
Damn, Shannon was an incredible singer. Gone too soon. RIP

This is amazing!
RIP, R. Shannon Hoon.
Excellent band...saw them play a club show in San Francisco 10 days before Shannon died. SH was higher than kite that night & still delivered a great set!
Was that @GAMH?
@@chrishubbell3313 - No, it was at Slim's
hung out w these guys in Raleigh NC, so fkn cool
Look how young … just a baby really. RIP.
im always homesick for those days ✌️💚
Such an underrated band. Thanks for this!
I truly love the music of Blind Melon. I was lucky to see Blind Melon two times. This is one of my favorite jam sessions. Much love to all connected to Blind Melon family. ❤ One of my personal favorites is Soup at Woodstock. Shannon and band rocking a huge crowd.
Always wanted to see the "Ripped Away" version of "No Rain" live. What a beautiful video!
Hello from Brazil. What a blessed day today for having come here and listening to these guys🙏🌟🤘
such a talented band and natural gift shannon was... RIP we still miss you!
Saw them in Woodstock '94...FAN FOREVER!!!R.I.P. Shannon!!!
Me 2!!!! Gone way too soon 😢but that was a great show!
Spun Doctors and Blind Melon should have switched spots.
@floepiejane can't remember what spot Spin Doctors were in, because I wouldn't even watch them with your eyes. But I agree 100%
If the Dutch documentary style version was a vhs, it would long be worn out for me. Glad this version exists. But Vulvet Un-der-grand was the only words I understood other than Blend Melun. And blue jeans or something. The best part is when Shannon Hoon is belting away in a back room, slams the door, and everyone is waiting on him awkwardly. Merry Christmas
What a voice
A couple cool and one sad tidbit(s) about Shannon. His mother Vernell was from Addison Alabama. My grandfather and grandmother both from just down the road in Moulton, Alabama became friends with Vernell and my grandfathers brother/my great Uncle Tommy and Vernell were a couple and had planned to marry and move to Indiana for work at the same time as my grandparents. Before it came to fruition Uncle Tommy was killed in a car accident at age 18. Vernell as well as my grandparents still moved to Lafayette, Indiana. But obviously Shannon may have never been had my Uncle Tommy not died in the accident. My family and Vernell’s have always been in touch although I cannot recall meeting her I guess I did as a kid. Shannon was 7 years older than me. But having been raised to love music I followed Shannon’s local band Styff Kytten as a youngster. When I was a freshman in high school it was announced Styff Kytten would be playing our high school (William Henry Harrison HS) junior/senior prom. So my best friends sister was (I believe) a Senior and their mom was a chaperone for the prom. Knowing we wanted to watch Styff Kytten, the mom snuck us two into the weight room which overlooked the small gym where that particular prom was held to watch the show. This would have been 1989-90. Not too much later Axl (also a Lafayette Indiana native) had Shannon singing backing vocals on Use Your Illusion and the rest is history. I would actually see Shannon back in town from time to time and he always took the time to say hi. I’d always ask for an autograph (never sold a single one, always gave them to friends and he knew this) and he’d always oblige. The last one that I got from Shannon I gave to my good friends little brother who had been visiting from Lynchburg, VA. It made his trip and that will always make it worth it for me. Like every autograph I’d gotten from Shannon, he would write the year he’d signed it. This particular autograph said “Shannon Hoon - Blind Melon ‘95!!” But there were hearts in place of the exclamation mark dots. It was mid August 1995. I’d never see him again. To this day I can hit play on many of their songs and get goosebumps and tears in my eyes at the same time. None do so more than Mouthful of Cavities.
Dude that is a great share. I live Hayden and grew up in Cullman. My favorite band ever. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Are you on FB?
Grew up 13 miles north of lafayette. Went to purdue. He was friends with a girl I knew so I met him twice at random college parties. I didn't know who he was, but I know he was cool and nice and friendly and cool.
Yeah. That cool
RIP from Lima,Peru . we miss you Shannon
Desde Paramonga norte chico Perú.....Shannon era único .....Esa voz calma hasta el más enajenado.....Se agradece lo mucho que nos dió en tan poco tiempo y nos duele aun muchísimo su pronta partida! de Lafayette para el mundo! RESPETOS !!!!!
hello from manila . best era for me
Always was a huge Melon & Shannon Hoon fan. Dang to think what could have been with him...Soup is an amazing album & that voice is almost Layne Staley level.
Love me some unplugged Melon !😁
Quite a low key performance but still excellent. I always loved Blind Melon when they were on the edge of coming apart. Great bass tone btw
They were a very tight and polished band but yet Shannon's voice had that raw yet controlled tone to it . That Joplin like rasp was amazing !!
Haven’t heard this band in a loooong time….thanks for the post
Thank you Shannon for all the tunes. I will always sing along 💓
this is my favorite version of Paper scratcher by far!!
Great sound! RIP
Very well played my friend!! Love your sound!🎸
Finalmente buena calidad de video y sonido de este live
Shannon looks so young and full of life here. 2yrs later he looked worn out and in need of some serious intervention (he needed at least 6 months sober before they even remotely wanted any chance of a sober tour). Shannon was really wanting to be here !
fly high Shannon.
Respect for uploading this 👏👏👏
So lovely, sad but sweet. Thank you.
Thank you for posting this Blind Melon video !! What a king !
Love Them!!!!!

Holy shit! Didn’t realise Tim Minchin played bass in Blind Melon 😲

Kris Kristofferson wrote "Me and Bobby McGee"
🥰😍🥰
real human vocals? acoustic instruments? art?.... what is this?
Exactly
Me and Bobby McGhee is a Kris Kristofferson song. You should credit it as such.
Fair!
First!!!🔥🔥🔥
What a loss.....NEVER put too much in the spoon...
The most annoying voice that i have ever heard
