      Wear one color head to toe. Also black. And lastly, longer cuts on coats or jackets works - and pants/jeans/etc that aren't cropped but hit past the ankle.

    As a plus size woman I usually don't take advice from women who are already thin, but Here's 3 reasons I'm a new subscriber and I think everyone should be as well. First, the title of your video caught my attention. You're right, who can't use more help looking better. Then your information was spot on for women of all shapes and sizes. Finally, your delivery and sunny personality made it impossible for me to stop watching!! Keep this up and you've got a new cheerleader here!!! Love it! I did see a tip about shapewear. It was to size up - that way you look smoother without creating extra spare tyres. I thought that made sense. Also I wear boyfriend jeans because they make my legs look long and slim and I get extra room for my tummy so I find them very comfortable. I think that helps if someone is a bit of an apple shape like me. I agree with you about blazers - very flattering.

Same for shoes - heels cost as much/little as flats. And yeah, you're right: STAND TALL ! Thanks so much & btw, you're lovely looking !

    When I was pregnant with my daughter and gaining a lot of weight, my husband would tell people (when they commented on my shoes/boots), "Yeah...the bigger she gets, the taller her heels get!". Because if you are 5'4" and a curvy 130 pounds, and then you put on a 4" heel...you're now a woman who is 5'8" and 130 pounds. Obviously the 5'8", 130lbs "new you" looks thinner! Great video, Karen! I found myself watching it because I still see myself as a chubby girl, even though I'm 5'4" and now only 114 lbs (I've lost 70 pounds). I miss my big booty! 😁

    Finally! Someone who puts out an intelligent tutorial 4 beauty tips. Thousands and thousands a video of out there, this is the first one I have ever seen that doesn't repeat the same old nonsense.
    There's one tip that makes absolutely huge difference in size and shape that is making sure your bra is the right size. Most women with the band to loose which doesn't give enough support which causes the twins to just lay over your rib cage. But getting a bra that fits really well keeps the twins up where they should be thus exposing a smaller waistline and more of an hourglass figure. This is the one thing that has made at most difference me and my friends that I have drug into a lingerie store for a new bra that fit properly

Neither of us need to be wearing them due to the stuffed sausage effect you spoke about. We are not far but are all plus size ladies and this look is not flattering! I’m going to share your video with them. You have a lot of good advice so I’m subscribing to your channel.

    Thank GOD you said "and literally they should HIT the ground" regarding wide legs pants,,,,thank you thank you. Such a pet peeve to see them worn with too much shoe showing. Drives me crazy. my tailor finally believes me when I say I want the pant leg to kiss the ground. Bravo-all about that generous cut that looks high-end rather than skimpy ill-fitting clothes that make you look bigger and cheap. And that generous fit can be had at high-street, Vintage, or even big box chains like Target,,,cause it's always fun to mix it up. 😉 your videos are Fabulous!

  • @micapetey
    @micapetey Před 7 lety

    Just discovered your channel and I'm addicted! Your chic sense of style, your impeccable taste and that dazzling smile. Plus your advice is excellent. I'd add "get a great tailor/seamstress." I just bought a beautiful silk tunic top but the sleeves ended at the same place as the hip-length hem. By shortening the sleeves to bracelet-3/4 length, I changed the shape of the tunic from a blocky square to an elongating rectangle. I also had the side slits opened up to give the top a more fluid look. Cost about $30 but it makes the top look so much better. My best tip is to avoid shapes or cuts that make you look square and instead, go for rectangles! Just by opening a boxy jacket, you turn it from a square into two lengthening rectangles. The same goes for where tops hit skirts or pants -- go for tops that are longer or shorter (rectangles can be slimming when they're horizontal too!) but not that are going to divide your body into two squat squares! Keep up your awesome videos!

    You are so right about the full legs on a pant. I've been wearing them since I was 18 years old. I'm tall and have full hips. So, the loose, airy fabrics with a full leg which is long accentuates the length of my legs and makes me look thinner. So few people mention this and it is absolutely true. I like the fact that I can pair the loose fitting pant with a tailored blazer.

    Growing older I’ve changed my size and shape and hence am struggling to find how to dress clever for my new shape. One thing I am in love with is A line dresses. I’m 5foot tall so an A line dress that hits my knee works wonders at hiding my mum-tum and spare tyre.
    I’ve also discovered a new appreciation of a good, fitted shirt (not a blouse) with jeans. A crisply starched and ironed fitted shirt in a size bigger than I’d normally wear over jeans, 👌🏻
