    I'd imagine it depends what you call a "straight midrange". For me, if it flies dead straight brand new, then I don't want it because it's going to be understable after a few tree hits. I prefer something that barely fades when it's new so that it beats into the perfect straight flyer. For more, the neutron Hex is definitely that disc! Funny enough, my eclipse Hex is much more overstable than all of my neutrons.

    • @KarstRats
      @KarstRats Před 9 měsíci

      Ehhhhh. My comet is holding up really well on not changing in how it flies. Its getting puddled its so beat. And it started slightly undertsable but hasnt gotten worse. Just enough that i can oush it as flat as i can down the narrowest tunnels in my area and it tracks well enough to hold the line and not smack the trees.

    • @TyCampbellTX
      @TyCampbellTX Před 9 měsíci

      There are definitely exceptions to the rule, but the concept of a disc beating in and becoming more understable isn't really debatable lol that's a pretty well established fact. @@KarstRats

  • @Thenamesnelson
    @Thenamesnelson Před 9 měsíci +3

    These videos are great but I just want to point out that if you pause on release, you can see your player is throwing almost every single shot on slight hyzer. Don't get me wrong, that is my most comfortable release angle as well, but it does have an effect on flight. He is basically making every disc slightly more overstable, where the -1 turn is being used to just flip to flat, and you are seeing a more pronounced fade. You should consider this for future videos.

    • @ChillGardensSV
      @ChillGardensSV Před 9 měsíci +3

The Mako3 is a great disc, but it's a little deeper than I prefer and I seemed to have a hard time getting a consistent release with it. How far are you throwing these discs? If it was mentioned, I missed it. Would be so helpful if you included a stamp with each throw of roughly how far each went (even +/- 20 ft would be very helpful). You already did a great job to mention the elevation. If you throw distance and wind conditions you'd have a great video. Bonus points if you mention temperature.

    I have thrown and own many discs are my go-to's for a guaranteed straight flight are my Opto Fuse and Kasta glow Svea, Fuse handles more torque. Throw them on hyzer, and they flip to flat and ride nearly dead straight for the remainder of the flight. Uplink for understable shots, though either the Fuse or Svea can also fill that role. Can't leave out my DD Truth also very straight and will do basically any line you set it on as well as a couple Mako3's. I use my Roc3 for more overstable shots.

    If you can get one, the MVP Detour is a very straight flying disc. Maybe a touch on the understable side but for me it's super straight. I would also say Fission is very different depending on weight. Max weight Fission is more stable than lightweight Fission in general. A Fission Hex in the 165g weight range will be pretty straight from my experience. Great video.

    I love these and can't wait for whatever is next in the series.
    That being said, for me the key to a "straight" mid that it has a putter like 0 fade. I understand that such a disc probably will require a bit of hyzer, but to me the Fuse is the only one that has that.
    Most of the so called straight mids in this one were more or less flex shots that faded back to the middle. Claymore seemed to have that truly straight flight, but maybe it was due to a lowere line which I also prefer.

    honestly Caleb OATed that Star Mako 3 bringing a minimum of 70 degrees hyzer into the powerpocket then flattening it to below 15 before release, OF COURSE its going to flip. He looked less "wild" with the champion mako 3 though. I personally bag an opto fuse for that slot which would no doubt turn over for Caleb but goes 280´ dead flat for me on 60-70% power, the key is a rear-dominant grip for finicky precision discs like those which means the ringfinger and pinky are the ones gripping the rim and forming the pivotpoint with middlefinger+thumb providing angle control and indexfinger sitting on the outside of the rim or just below it.

    MVP modulates fission weight by changing the mass in the overmold, the flight plates are all the same for any run. This means that a max weight fission disc is going to be beefy because it has more angular momentum and a min weight will be flippy for the same reason

    I’ve had a very different experience with all the fission discs I’ve thrown. But I think that could be related to an issue I think this video has, release angle.
    Players are getting straight flights by hyzer-flipping a less stable disc or flat releasing an actual straight flyer. Having just one person hyzer-flipping the discs isn’t great for players who throw flat or even with a touch of anny.

    i was hoping to see that k1 hard stig in action. great disc! dont have a fav straight mid range but the glow musitang is what i bag. if thrown hard it does straighten out but probably isnt straight, the LSS is pretty strong

      I was hoping to test a stock Stig but we sold out of ours recently so we'll have to test that in the future! Though, we did do a video about the Stig when it was first released, it was pretty understable so I didn't immediately think of it for a straight mid test.

    When I first started playing, the Mako3 was dead straight. But, I couldn't throw over 300 feet. Now I borrow my buddy's Halo Mako3 from time to time and it is great for hyzerflips, but it is not "straight".

    I'm a mile above sea level, so everything is a bit more overstable for me, but I find that my Lizottle glow Hex is significantly more overstable than my MD1/Mindbenders, so I was a bit surprised to see that Axiom glow Hex fly so straight. I'd love a Hex that flew like that. All my glow discs are meathooks.

    I did love throwing a Mako3, but my straightest mid-range has to be my Tursas. I keep forgetting it has a -2 turn because I never see that in its flight.

    Beat in DX ROC is very straight for me. I also throw the DX Dart for those straight shots. It’s officially a putter, but it’s really fast and goes pretty far and kinda boarders on being a mid.

    I'd love to see a video on which of these straightest mid ranges can handle the most OAT from a forehand, IE fly the least stable for a forehand and be the most usable! Or maybe non of them and this would be a dumb video hah. Most understable mid I forehand right now is a c line MD3.

    My true "flight numbers dont matter" moment was when i realized that a zone and a luna are only seperated by 1 speed, every other number is identical, but i could throw my zone on a roller angle and it would fight back to the left. Meanwhile a luna thrown flat will drift right before it comes back

      This is what I was coming here to say! I still havent thrown a Hex but I love my glow Reactor. Forehand or backhand, you can put alot of power on it and it laser beams straight with little fade, if any. If the Hex did so well they should try the Reactor

    • @YoSuhDude
      @YoSuhDude Před 2 měsíci

      @@bsage5609 the hex is also awesome. The md1 is also a laser beam if you can take a little heat off of it and just let it flip up to flat, the fade is awesome it’s almost like a glitch, just floats to a straight stop. Been loving the discmania mids, but I still bag a hex for slight turnover shots and a reactor for windy days.

    The 20 year Buzzz, Truth & glow hex are my straightest mid I throw. I threw a Champ Mako for a while but it would turn easier then the newer straight mids.

    The simple fact that after learning what flight nimbers are supposed to mean made me 100x better means they do matter. I coukdve thrown a million times and tamer my discs. But by knowing what those numbers are supposed to mean really helped tbh. In my experience they mean a lot kore than you give credit for. Just not across different brands. Every brand is different in that aspect.

  • @tonykaze
    @tonykaze Před 9 měsíci

    I also agree that Mako3 is one of the straighest discs on the market. Unfortunately I own like 6 of them and they're pretty all over the place. They're all "pretty straight" but as always with Innova there's a huge variation between runs and plastics.
    One of the three star Mako3s I have is super straight, so I got to that, but will switch to a flippier one in a tailwind or champion into a headwind to get super straight flights out to about 375ft with my armspeed.

    If you do a most overstable mid vid you've got to try a Legacy Discs Badger. Specifically the Patrick Brown Aztec Serpent. It's what I imagine a Tilt would be as a mid-range 😂
