- The Shadow Systems MR920P is the new compensated offering from Shadow Systems Corporation based in Plano, TX. We take a look relative to the CR920P and the DR920P as well.
Disclosures: Shadow Systems provided the pistol for video - Cyelee provided the optic for evaluation.

My buddy has one for his daily carry. Absolutely loves it.
Ordering mine today! thanks for the review!
Love my MR920, CR920 and I can’t wait to add this MR920P. Shadow systems makes an incredible gun. I won’t ever buy a Glock after owning a shadow systems.
I love me some shadow systems. I EDC my MR920 Elite most days and I’m definitely picking up an XR920P soon. I much prefer the look of the comp on the XR vs. the MR pistols because of the full length rail.
I had the Herrington Comp on my p320 but I recently got the agency dual port and it's way more effective i actually had to tune the springs and that was what I was going for!
I see Humble Marksman, I upvote.
Twice as expensive as a Glock? Not at all - buy the Glock, replace the trigger, replace the sights, improve the grip, add a compensator, and now the guns are similar, and you're less than $100 difference. I'll take this from the factory all day, everyday.
Also, made in Texas like the Staccatos!!
Glock 19 - $650
Ramjet after burner - $400
Add those together and you have the exact price as the Shadow Systems MR920p minus the
better feeling trigger (it just feels better not break better),
adjustable back straps for different grip angle,
iron night sights,
MOS without need of a mounting plate,
fluted barrel (which does nothing but is pretty),
Beaver tail,
Slide cuts for a lighter slide,
No need for a grip stipple job,
And if you ever have to use the firearm SS sends you a new one for that time period.
The one thing you get with the Glock is known reliability but once you throw a ramjet after burner on their will the reliability stay?
great video as always, would love to see a vid on the xr920p, pretty positive its gonna be my next buy
David, you have one of the most consistent channels of your kind on CZcams. I wish you would do more instructional videos since no gun can do anything by itself.
Yeah he’s like Honest Outlaw where they interweave really good points and experience about grip, recoil management, and so many little nuances that only comes from years or shooting and trying out different platforms. So I end up watching all their videos even if I’m not interested in the particular firearm they’re discussing, lol. More videos dedicated to pistol shooting and what you’re looking for to correct or accomplish would be great.
Very nice. I now I'm still enjoying my MR920L model. I've had it since last February. I'm looking forward to is shadow systems doing their own line of AR platforms and coming out with a 10mm dubble stack and 45acp dubble stack. That! Would be bad ass
I have a few Shadow Systems, starting with the original 918 and I have never had any break in issues at all. Great video, Thanks.
I never had one that had more than a couple magazines.
@@TheHumbleMarksman I haven’t shot a shadow systems yet but I wanna pick one up as I am not a fan of Glock I see people say and in your video have said it’s a reliable gun which I’m happy to hear, would you recommend the xr920p over the elite?
WOW look at that outside lounge
My 2 carry guns are Daniel H9 and Shadow Systems MR920 Elite with the Compensator. I like my H9 the most, but the Shadow Systems defense policy is nice too.
I’ve had the XR920P for the past 10 days. I love it compared to my Glock 45 with the ramjet. Recoil is similar, but it’s the grip angle adjustability,(I like the H backstrap) slide cut gription compare to slippery Glocks, optic mount system is great, stippling, stock trigger, etc.
My first 21 rounds all stove piped. However, the next 900 rounds have been flawless. I tried two brands of FMJ 124 and two HST 147 and 150 law enforcement. No issues. Removing the toolless comp is simple. Remove the spring extend the barrel out halfway, rotate at the locking tab. Takes about 10 seconds. This is my first SS but I have my eye on the MR as well.
I just ordered a XR920p with black barrel
They had unsubscribed me despite watching several of your videos a week. Bastards. Fixed!
Yes please
Cyelee should make a painted/coated version of the Shark dots looks like the Blahaj shark from Ikea.
*WOW. I just found out I was unsuscribed! No wonder I wasn't seeing your videos. I thought you had taken a break. Anyway, I re-subscribed again.*
I enjoyed this review, David. Shadow Systems are made in my home state of Texas 😎
yeah - YT is weird.
Glad you found me again!
@@TheHumbleMarksman Yeah, you advised check your subscription, and sure enough, I was not. No wonder I missed several videos. So, I subscribed again.
I wish more companies would give is the option for a steel Comp
Try the newer Bul Axe FS Tomahawk with the ports.
I got it Friday. May be as good or slightly better than all of my Shadow Systems
You beat me to the punch. I passed on a Shadow Systems for a Bul Armory Axe Cleaver. I couldn't find a Tomahawk, so I basically turned my Cleaver into a Tomahawk with window cuts and a match barrel. Awesome awesome pistol.
@@richdubbya I purchased mine directly from the Bul Armory website. I don’t like Glocks due to their grip angles, but there are some good Glock clones. I love my Shadow Systems pistols. I only change the triggers. The Tomahawk seems to have a good enough trigger. The stippling is excellent. Only thing I did was add an optic and some skateboard tape to the bottom of the trigger guard
Bro has a video from a year ago on the bul
One of the luxury Glocks.
DR920 elite owner. 3 years and thousands of rounds through it. No issues.
I love everything about my Cr920p. I'm a tall dude, relatively fit, so I needed something a bit smaller so it wouldn't print. I shoot my Cr920p more accurate than I've shot any compact gun and even better that the G19. I wish the Mr920p was just a little smaller and I definitely would give it a shot.
Please do a video on competition gadgets/gimmicks. Like picatinny mounted comps, red dot mounts, and thumb rests. Explain what would be allowed in competition. Why you don't use them.
If I didn’t already have an MR920 elite with a radian afterburner and comp I would total buy that.
Ask and you shall receive. Shadow Systems just released a video on how to disassemble the comp.
I saw!
got any plans to review the shalo tek flex frames?
🤞Hoping we get a Shadow 2 Compact review🖖
Curious as to how the new Bul armory axe with the ports performs compared to this.
Love the Babe reference.
I’ve had 3 SS. All had to be sent back. I’ve had 8 or 9 Glocks….0 problems.
Yeah, the almost perfect Fauxland special!
6:31 The Nosler 115s, 124s, and the Critical Defense Lights seemed to eject 1 ft. or less from the gun. That's very close to a malfunction. The +Ps and subsonics ejected much better.
How do you think the compensation is compared to the Radian Ramjet. The ports seem smaller on the XR
Nice, I should probably pick one up and get it ready for work. The manager is all about "magazine compatibility" for us..... Honestly, if someone burns through 46 round of ammo and needs more, I ain't giving them anyone mine to seed the ground with lead....😂
how does that comp compare to the afterburner comp
Just for comparison I've gotten a glock 35 and a Glock 40 completely modded which includes slide cuts, suppressor height sights, Red Dot mounts, red dots, undercuts on the trigger guard, laser stippling, triggers, trigger bars, trigger springs, recoil guide assembly, custom barrels, threaded, ports, compensators, standoff device.
After all of the work done to my glock 40, the total price comes out to 1750
After all of the work done to my glock 35, including a 357 sig conversion kit, the cost comes out to 1450.
I am actually really surprised that the shadow systems Glocks are equal if not competitive to all of the modifications you can actually do to your own stock Glock.
If all you want is an out-of-the-box brick, then just get an out of the box Glock. There's nothing wrong with that, and it's perfectly functional.
I for one am actually looking at the Dr series because it's going to save me the time of getting all of those things together and modified and put together, for basically a competitive price.
I carry MR 920 W Gen 2 Trijicon redot , has the threaded barrel and suppresser sights , bit pricey but who needs money anyway 😅
I checked and sure enough, I’d been unsubscribed. Glad you said something!
Between the MR920P & XR920P, which one shoots flatter?
Ppl who complaining about a 1100 Glock are the same people who would buy a agency arms Glock imo
Lol doubt
Good review, this is how I consider the gun, it has to do it all. I have no interest in having piles of different guns anymore. I go with a design I can carry and do the odd idpa/weekly steel match. I just ordered this to fit that roll. Thx o/
Does it not come off just like the CR920P? It looks like it has the divot to pop the pin out.
I use to think my DR920 was fantastic, that is until I got my Prodigy and the difference is night and day in favor or the Prodigy. The recoil on the SS is terrible, so I'm wondering how much of a difference the comp would make if I added it.
Where did you get it?
How flat does it shoot compared to the baretta apx a1?
Thanks for another great video, you actually remove the compensator the same as the cr920p. Think I’m going to keep my Glock 19 with radian ramjet. Have the cr920p already and like the slimmer overall size for edc.
I wish they came out with this before I bought the ramjet!!! 😢
You're fine. Other than the frame being shaped and textured slightly different , you have the same gun.
@@davidgaines8607 yeah, just would have saved me $
Ramjet port is larger so it is likely more effective. Owning both shadow system and radian products, I will take Radian products all day any day.
Would the mr920p be legal for idpa?
I own 5 of their models from the now discontinued Combat line. If I was going to purchase one of their Elite models this might be it.
I do find it interesting that the MR920P is basically the same size as the MR920L, but Shadow Systems doesn’t really push the latter, because it doesn’t sell as well as their other guns. I suspect that the benefits of the comped MR920P, are not going to help sales of the MR920L.😎✌️
I know it's not very comparable (full size grip+24oz), but Live Free Armory launched there Falcon 9XC glock clone (gen 4?) with a large single port, integrated slide comp. Don't think it would beet the MR920p but at about half the cost might be an interesting chose.
Damn, just took a look. That's tempting.
Shadow Systems could make a silencer QD off that and help us in banned states. Threads on a pistol are somehow extra scary here
The mr920p and xr920p are tool less removal of the compensator only the cr920p needs a tool for removal.
review zev oz9c x elite
If i want my mr920p elite to shoot straight I can't use 115 g, they fly wherever they want so 124g an higher should be recommended
Any truth to concerns about triggers breaking and mag catch not working woth differing mags?
I had mag catch issues on a very early mr920 that was due to out of spec mag catch springs
great review. I would buy a used 1. At $1100ish new, that's 1911 territory...entry level 1911, but 1911 territory none the less.
yeah if im gonna drop 1100 im gonna go after the cz shadow 2 C
@MRsolidcolor unless you get it used for a good price good luck. They discontinued the compact and they have skyrocketed in price
Yeah, but the whole point of this is having a 21 Oz carry gun. 1911s are like 30 Oz with only 9 round capacity.
@@richardw2801if you get an aluminum frame, a steel frame will run more like 40+ oz empty
Were you can get a iwb holster for MR920P with tlr 7 x light ???
A G17 holster for that should take the MR920P I would think - depending on how it’s molded - or a G17 holster - I carried it in a G17 holster when I was checking it out
🇺🇸
R u a master or grandmaster class shooter?
I could never get into the Syadow Systems guns grip etc....
Which cylee dot is that ?
Cobra
Had an MR 920. Jammed a few times even after the break-in period . Felt good. I just couldn't trust it.
Limp wrist?
@warweaponx6629 😮Don't have the same issues with Glock , M&P, or Walther.
That stinks but seems highly unusual. Did you send it back to Shadow Systems to look into it?@@sdv23100
I love shadow systems! They're also one of the best companies out there!
Is the h9 anygood ?
I personally think so. Some people have had bad barrels apparently.
Just picked one up today? What Glock mag fits this???
All the one I tried - 15 rounds+
OEM, Pmag, Bul Armory
Okay, so the XRp would be like a comped g45?
Yes
Yup
Ahhhh very sneaky mister
Does this fit g19 or g17 holsters?
It fits the g17 holsters I believe. I have the mr920 elite with the shadow systems thread on comp they released before these and it fits fine in open ended g19 holsters.
G17
👍
👍👊🔥
Babe reference duly noted
its probably apples and oranges but how does it compare to the p365 legion?
well....they are both consider fruits...so there's that...
Canik TTI Combat has entered the chat.
I won’t ruin it but this comp design is better than that one
Kind of hard to believe the Mr920p is better than the dr920p
😎
at that price id just save another week and get the shadow 2c
I wouldn’t
@@TheHumbleMarksman
Why not though? That could be video to make, comparison of the two.
@@frost8077 He discussed it in many videos. The Shadow 2 is front heavy and the dot reset is not ideal. For me, after getting used to shooting 2011s, shooting Shadow2 feels strange. My G45 with ramjet shots like a worse version of the Staccato XC, so I assume this one shoots more similar to 2011 than Shadow2 as well.
Dont get the difference i can put a radian afterburner on a 19.
I'll be damned I've be subscribed for a long time and I just checked and you were right I was I unsubscribed
I'm curious why this pistol is $1100+ and then I have to dump 200 rounds to finish their machine work and smooth things out for it to function properly? That's concerning
That’s what’s in their manual. This didn’t need it.
Fly with no wings is a dead fly.
cool. i just think comps are gimmicks and not worth the money for a 9mm. the amount of gas is not much. and 9 don't really have massive recoil.
I own 8 different 9mm pieces. My Shadow Systems Dr920p is the flattest shooting gun I have or have ever owned. Over my 2011’s even
Does it take Glock mags
Yes
This should be a Glock that Glock sells in their competition line. But no, some other company needs to do this instead
To be honest I carry a XR920 and is the best decision I ever made cause the price is no huge between a Glock 19X and my XR920 feel better and shoot better ah looks better to 🙂↕️
I mean for $500 you could get a Glock 19. The only thing this gun has over a Glock is the milled slide but you can get one milled for like $100. People will say you end up replacing everything on a Glock but honestly I don’t really think you need to. The trigger isn’t perfect but it’s serviceable if you practice I really don’t see the point of this thing.
realistically to build up to this level - fairly - you're in for an optic cut and back up sights, a threaded barrel and a compensator. Maybe a MagPul polymer magwell. Depending on how you answer those questions you're approximately $450 in mods into the glock. The Shadow gun still has better grip traction - so you can solve that however you wish on the Glock - or not.
Eh ive wanted a shadow systems because i like the looks but the dagger sabers are coming out so ill try them first.
Shadow Systems feel cheap and have more reliability issues than they should
Mine haven’t had problems
👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸💯💯🔫🔫☕️☕️
It's just an expensive Glock
What’s is the first step in divorcee?
Marriage.
An $1100 Glock? Jeezus.
It's not a glock. You couldn't make a glock this good for 1100$
@@junderwood6633 And there it is... building a better 'Glock' than Glock.
Or you could just buy a Glock and replace almost everything in it with aftermarket parts.
@@HalfCrazy520you could literally buy any gun and replace the parts with aftermarket.
Owned Glocks and have a War Poet Edition MR920…I’ll take a Shadow Systems all day
Being poor sucks. Being annoying is worse.
hey, look. another glock clone
Unpopular opinion here!
To me, shadow systems guns are overrated and over hyped. I called them the social media guns…. Meaning, it’s a Glock clone company that got lucky to have found a social media influencer with a lot of followers to test and say good things about it, so now every moron out there wants one because some influencer in TikTok or whatever else social media crap they got made a vid for his millions of followers! There is nothing special about these guns. It’s just another clone from a Glock, no different from a Palmetto State armory dagger or any other Glock clone company. Crazy how one person can influence and make an average (at best) product into a very expensive and famous item.
As someone with a lot of Glock clones and Glocks - I definitely rate the SS guns higher than many/most. Their barrels are very accurate and their frames better designed than many/most. It still is a Glock at its soul which makes it hard to come to grips with the premium price considering what others in the space trade for.
This variant - with a comp - is very well positioned on price and features. The no comp guns - it’s harder to command the premium the comped guns are very fairly positioned - IMO
Nothing but a ridiculously over priced glock...
Eh at that price wearing a comp there starts to be a bit of daylight
Fluted/spiral barrel, comp, optics cut.... What's the price tag on a g19 with those features? 🤡
@@blessedbaphomet better trigger, better grip texture, better grip angle and a magwell as well.
Sometimes it works too!
If you did the same things to a stock Glock it would be $1500+. Ask me how I know.
Still content and happy with my Glock19. …those are super nice guns tho.
Moar guns that look cool plz! 🤩
